A new photo of the Duchess of Cornwall has been released by her new project’s Instagram account (duchessofcornwallsreadingroom) before the launch of The Reading Room project, which will take place on Friday. Her first four book recommendations will be announced during the launch. The photo was taken by Jennifer Pattinson. By means of virtual book room sessions, The Duchess aims to encourage her fans to read books during the lockdown, and will announce her four new book recommendations on Friday. Among The Duchess's previous reading recommendations are classics such as Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, as well as Travels On My Elephant, a memoir written by her late brother, Mark Shand.
Now there's a bad photo if I ever saw one! Too dark, a fussy sleeve on one side where the pic got blurry, and somebody decided to make her look fake blonde although she usually appears with grey or almost white hair, and does not seem to have a problem with her hair having lost its original colour with aging. The crowning failure is to show her reading but there is now book, apart from a corner of something. There are so many so much better pictures of her around! - Ellie
ReplyDeleteSometimes people feel total ill and start to tjink others look strange.
DeleteTake care. 😇
I agree with Ellie!
DeleteI think it's a lovely photo!
DeleteI commend the Duchess for her efforts in encouraging us to read more. When so much of the world is hunkered down waiting for COVID-19 to run its course, reading is an ideal activity.
ReplyDeleteA new offiicial photo ……
ReplyDeleteSorry , but it does not look very much Duchess Camilla 💜 …… and especially not new ( at the age of 73) , IMO.

What a peculiar photograph. It took me at least 5 seconds to work out that the fluffy cream thing in the foreground was her sleeve. It seems a very odd choice.
ReplyDeleteI really like the photo. It has something rembrandesque about it. Very atmospheric with a lot of depth and warmth. Admittedly, the book could have been given a little more space.
ReplyDeleteAnd it has often struck me lately that the Duchess does appear naturally younger and more attractive than she actually is.
If the photographer finds a perspective that does not show each and every wrinkle on her face fully presented - and if this shadowy presentation suits the subject (reading a book) nicely, then I don't really know why anybody misses her age appropriate wrinkles presented in gleaming light? Much better so than plastic surgery combined with full light. - About her hair: I never perceved her hair as white and uncoloured, for me, it has always been a very platin silvery blond. (-Ann.)
ReplyDeleteA strange official photo of the Duchess.
ReplyDeleteThe information on this site says it's a new official photo.
More of an impromptu profile shot taken without warning.
But maybe such a photo falls into the category of "arty" which is a bit over my head.
Is she wearing that pinafore dress again?
Gives me memories of my dear old mother who used to say when it was time for her to do her housework, "I'll put on my pinny now".
Poor focus on the part of the photographer. The photo should have been extended downward to show the book -- to firmly make the point. And the lighting was poor and unflattering to her. The ruffled sleeve should have been smoothed down before the photo was taken.
ReplyDeleteWow, some harsh comments. I actually like it. I applaud her efforts with the reading program. This portrait reminds me of an old painting, and with the pose of her reading it is perfect for the occasion.

I agree with you. I like the photo, it has warmth and depth. I could see immediately that it was her and what she was doing.
DeleteIt has something contemplative about it. Why not. Frieda
ReplyDeleteWell said.
DeleteThe photo is very classic. Interesting reading suggestions. May I suggest a royal read; The Windsor Knot by SJ. Bennett; which has Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth as a super sleuth.
ReplyDeleteIt's not an attractive picture
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess of Cornwall looks so serene and beautiful as always...

I think you need glasses.
DeleteOdd photo: No book, hair a weird color, blouse blurry on one side, too dark, just a poorly taken photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of someone reading under a lamp!
ReplyDeleteHer hair is gorgeous!
Well this is not really an official portrait. This photo was published on the instagram account of her Reading Room Project (duchessofcornwallsreadingroom), she is sitting in the garden room of their house and in this context I do not necessarily miss the book in the picture. I like this photo, not the usual smiling-at-cameras picture, more intimate. (-Ann.)

ReplyDeleteI love Camilla's this photograph very much.
ReplyDeleteMaybe her reading list should have started with the Bible, or Koran, or other religious material. She looks like a nun in these photos if you take out the 'golden' hair.
