The French magazine Point De Vue has published the Christmas photo of Monaco Princely Family, that is, Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene and their twins Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. The photo has been placed on the cover of the last issue of the magazine. An article by Alice George accompanies the photo. In the photo, Princess Charlene wears a blue silk and embellished gown from Ralph & Russo.
Monaco Princely Family's 2020 Christmas Card
Nice feminen hair!
ReplyDeleteThe prince wears a really horrible suit: drab colour and far too long trousers.
I am not a fan of young boys in suits either.

Hum.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely photo but, IMO, it would be better if Jacques and Gabriella's positions were switched. The children are adorable, and Charlene looks very pretty.
ReplyDeleteStunning
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaking to see that even christmascards receives critical comments. Try to use a little love and christmas spirit. How can we expect children to stop bullying when we the so-called adults are not able to treat others with respect, but criticise everything under the sun. Spread love not hate. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteCritical comments are neither "bullying" nor lack of respect. Also I don't think that your heart is breaking only because someone writes that they don't like a suit.
DeleteI for one still think that there is something wrong with the Grimaldis, especially compared to for example Victoria and her family, Mary and her family or the Cambridges.
Heartbreaking, really? The fact that someone does not like the colour of a suit......
DeleteLily T.
I think this might not be the website for you, since we are having comments on outfits and fashion. We are not bullying anyone merely having opinions on royalty fashion.
ReplyDeleteAlbert looks healthy after his Covid scare.
ReplyDeleteThe kids are cute.
Charlene's hair isn't as scary here.
yes And I love them & Charléne especially. She lost 2 dear friends this year, and very sad about them. Beautiful kids
DeleteI love that we get to see these cute young children so much during the year. I love Charlene's dress.

Fürstin Charlene sieht diesmal wieder sehr stilvoll
ReplyDeleteaus.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks amazing here. Her dress is gorgeous and so much more flattering than the dull and dark colours she wears so often. It's difficult to reconcile her with the grungy punk princess in ripped jeans and boots shown last week. The twins are always cute but while I like Jacques outfit, Gabriella's dress is too pale and doll like for me. Prefer a burst of festive red like Estelle. Christmas greetings to the whole extended family
ReplyDeleteCharlene is breathtakingly beautiful from head to toe.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics.
This is the yearly low for this blog. It happened last year with the Sussex card, and now this card. It is Christmas! It is the season of joy, in a year we need it more than ever. Each member of the family has been criticized in this photo. What is the point? Albert's suit is a drab color? Men's suits typically are. That's why ties are so important. Albert ALWAYS wears his pants too long. Let it go this time...Could it be possible that this picture was taken BEFORE Charlene changed her hairstyle? That would mean there is no trickery here, just her hair, but that wouldn't be any fun to comment on. Speaking of Charlene's hair, why continuously bring up her new style? We all know about it. We all know the prevailing opinion. Focus on this picture and stop stirring the pot. Charlene looks absolutely beautiful...It is always the best practice to avoid critiquing a child, but not on a Christmas card! Little Gabriella is a six-year-old-girly girl that may have chosen her dress all by herself. Sorry it is not red and festive like Estelle's. A note about hair -- being born with curly hair does not mean it stays curly for life and the child is being tortured with her hair being straightened daily. Good grief!...Jacques in a suit! Oh no! And we have one vote for the suit being too big. Little boys love dressing like daddy. Putting him in a bow tie, light socks and loafers keeps him more casual but "like daddy". I also find it endearing that he looks a little rumpled because he is a boy. If he was too perfect it would not be real. Little boys never look perfect. This is a family Christmas portrait that was generously shared with the public. I might add that there has been nothing but whining about the lack of Christmassy settings in the Christmas cards this year, and now we have exactly what so many felt was lacking. Instead of being happy about it, the photo gets picked apart. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteThank you for elaborating your opinion in detail.
DeleteI am partly guilty of what you describe myself, so: mea culpa.
I will be less critical in the future and more open for their good intentions and friendly faces( and this is no cynisme).
Ch. looks beautifull, and forA. I offer to go to a men’s tailor for a good fitting suit.
What a sensible and accurate post. Others would do well to take it to heart. How sad that the Christmas spirit is so lacking in some people.
DeleteAnonymous 10:33pm - I agree with you. And thank you very much!! That needed to be said. ~Laurel~
DeleteGoodness, Anon 10 33. I do hope you can relax and chill over the festive holidays. Certainly for me and, I suspect for many others, the joy of this blog is not only the great photos of so many royal families, published very soon after the events the depict, but also reading the views of others on these pics.
DeleteAt this point, can I say thank you to Helen Electra for this blog and her hard work in putting it together. I am sure everyone who visits Newmyroyals appreciates the work you do. It is a great wind down at the end of a busy day. Occasionally the comments become political and/or unkind but generally they are just what one individual thinks. As Coralie says above, this is not bullying or unkind just a community sharing their thoughts. may we have the freedom to continue to do so into 2021 and beyond.
@Anon10.33: oh dear...... taking this fashion blog and its comments a bit too serious, arent’t you?

@Annie M and Lily T It is about being charitable one time a year, Christmas. Nothing more. There is a time and a place. If you can't accept a Christmas card in the spirit in which it was intended, you make Ebenezer Scrooge look like a saint. People do miss the point of this blog, which is critiquing fashion, but even God took one day off. December 26th and beyond, game on.
DeleteGreat pic. I like how they are dressed in the same shades that are used to decorate the tree. While not traditional red and green - icy blues, whites, grays, and metallics still work for the holiday season.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks fantastic. I love her dress- the leaf pattern is beautiful. The twins are getting big.

Well said Lili.

This is a beautiful photo. Charlene looks stunning, love her dress. The children look gorgeous. Well done.
ReplyDeleteCharlene's dress is gorgeous, as is Gabriella's. The kids are so adorable. Beautiful tree.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo ! Charlene, looks beautiful (this is pre shaved head I'm guessing!)The children are adorable ! Ana
ReplyDeleteWell well ... if I want to feel christmas spirit, I am definitely not looking for it in a fashion blog :-) . - Charlene looks very good here. But I would like to admit that, with a few exceptions, I never like the way Charlene the children, be it a suit and a princessy dress or something casual. There is always something awkward for me, not as if she did not care, much more that she very much wants to care but maybe she simply lacks a sense for it. And to write this is not unchristmassy or against the charity work these people do - this is just a piece of opinion about outfits & Co. in a blog that was created for this. (-Ann.)
ReplyDelete".... Charlene dresses the children", very sorry, omitted the verb in above post. (-Ann.)

Deletehave a completely different opinion than you. It is Charlenen's twins who are always suitably and well dressed. Maybe the best of all royal children. I know that now there is "in:" casual clothing, everyone tries to look "normal", so they wear a sweater, jeans, t-shirts ..., sustainable fashion, etc., just for God's sake some" activist" does not accuse them of elitism.... I appreciate that the Monaco royal family did not succumb to this
pressure and look exclusive and very nice. Very well, Charlene.
(Stephanie)
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I find the way the children are dressed out of the ark a lot of the time especially Gabriella. I far prefer the way the Swedish children are dressed. I often feel that Gabriella looks like an old fashioned dressed up doll.
Delete@Stephanie: It is OK to have differing opitions. But I think you misunderstood me. I don't mean that these children should be dressed "casually". I like tradition and I understand why it is also a very good option to dress the children traditionally. What I miss is simply a good fit, general attractiveness etc. By the way, same observation applies to Prince Albert: Pants too long, a non-colour tie to a darker non-colour suit and the suit does not do any favour for his figure. This is what I mean in case of the children too. Little Jacques could wear a suit and a bow tie, but then make his bow tie sit straight and don't give him black next to his pale skin. (-Ann.)
DeleteSix years ago, the first photo of the twins with their parents: every commenter was complaining that there was TOO MUCH RED!
ReplyDeletePerhaps (this is only my guess) Albert and Charlene read the comments and learned?
Margot
Although red, green and gold may be considered as the classic christmas colours, this year the colour scheme silver, pale gold and white - which is also a classic and is known as the scandinavian style- is very much on trend if you take a look into interior style magazines.
DeleteThey all look great. I especially like that it is a true Xmas card with the beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely photo. For some reason, though, to me Charlene looks almost unrecognizable here. I certainly don't doubt that it's her, so I think it must be the lighting.
