On December 15, 2020, Swedish Crown Princess Victoria took part in the online launch of the Human Development Report 2020 (HDR). At the online event, the Crown Princess gave an opening speech. The report lays out a stark choice for world leaders - take bold steps to reduce the immense pressure that is being exerted on the environment and the natural world, or humanity’s progress will stall.

That looks really nice. Pretty colour, interesting neckline, fits her well. I can´t see her whole outfit, but I hope it´s a knee-length dress. Anyway, no floaty florals, no frills, no pussy bow, no boxy jackets in sight - that´s promising.
CP Victoria's red dress(?) and green earrings are certainly Christmassy, but, I really don't care for the earrings. Would someone explain the artistic idea of them? What am I missing?
I was wondering too. I like the colours but the design seems random and isn´t especially attractive, at least in that large, clunky size. I also wonder what exactly makes them multifunctional. If they are convertible in some way, maybe they´re cooler than they seem, but for now, I don´t like them.
Edit: I was curious, so I researched and found them. The two pendants are detachable, the material is recycled (metal/plastic), the part that I found hard to interpret is a small grasshopper (sitting on the green bit). I don´t like the earring any better knowing this, but at least there IS a design idea. https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0908228001.html
Thanks for the link, Vanessa. I thought I noticed a grasshopper or bug the last time she wore them, but I wasn't sure. I wasn't fond of them the first time, and I still don't care for them. They might be fun with a casual outfit, but not on dressier occasions. I like the convertible aspect, but it doesn't help in this case.
From what I can see of her dress, I love it. Clean lines, close fitting, and solid color are wonderful on her. I hope the rest of the dress looks as good.
I fully agree with Chel on everything. IMV the combination of the so and so earrings and the very strict hair style (once again) is detrimental for her look as a whole; it even harms the attractiveness of the nice dress.
The dress is gorgeous on her...no fussy ruffles or frills to compete with her natural beauty. I don’t like the earrings though. The shape doesn’t compliment her jaw line. (V.M.)
Would like to see the whole dress but then I might be disappointed! Think this dress is a great colour and style for the Crown princess and I rather like the festive earrings.
She looks great and festive, but the most important thing is the content and message of her speech. I hope everyone watching the video will listen to it and take necessary action in their own life. - B.
Thanks, Vanessa, for researching the earrings, and for the link to the website. Like you, knowing what they represent doesn't make me like them more than at first glance. But, I must say that I'm impressed by CP Victoria's willingness to wear such affordable jewelry.
Love the model and the colour of her dress!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of her hair style in general and the earrings in particular, but the dress style seems lovely, and the brooch is a great addition. - Ellie

That is a very flattering cut of the dress. Nice color, especially at Christmas time. Not sure about the earrings, but the pin is nice.

I think she looks great. The red, green and gold is very festive.
ReplyDeleteI think the earrings help with stopping her strong jawline being the main focus and draw the eye elsewhere.
