The Duchess of Cambridge held a video conference with Armed Forces families on the occasion of Remembrance week in the United Kingdom. The Duchess spoke with Armed Forces families who have lost loved ones to hear about the impact that Remembrance week has for them. The Duchess and the families spoke about the support that they receive from members of the Armed Forces community, including other bereaved families, and from the Royal British Legion.
The Royal British Legion provides lifelong support to anyone who has served for the British Armed Forces and their families and in addition, it helps bereaved families with funeral costs, ongoing emotional support and in the fields of counselling or mental health support. The Duchess wore a new satin ivory Peter Pan–style collar blouse from Ghost London.

Ghost London Boo Blouse
Not a fan of shiny silk blouses but this, with the black collar is lovely. Great look.
ReplyDeleteShiny and other blouses have to be appreciated on a case by case basis. I like this one for the Duchess.
ReplyDeleteExactly my thoughts.
DeleteShe can wear high contrast, black and white very well. I’m not a fan of this particular blouse ( too “girly” for my taste ), but she’s accessorized it nicely, and I love her swoopy eyeliner. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteAgree it is too girly it is a no for me. I don't like her eyeliner either it is making hr look sleepy
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteUnfortunately this is a miss for me in many areas. I dont like the exaggerated collar and the puffy sleeves together with the shiny fabric.
ReplyDeleteAgree. The collar looks like it was designed for another blouse and plopped on this blouse by mistake.
DeleteE.B.B.
Very much agreed, this is a rare miss in my opinion. This is just not flattering at all. The shiny cream color washes her out and the exaggerated collar is just throwing the look into matronly territory.

Beautiful blouse. She looks Brazilian.
ReplyDeleteVery appropriate and lovely- also a perfect example of zoom dressing.

Agree.
DeleteI'd have liked the blouse better if it wasn't in satin. Satin and Peter-Pan collars are style features that clash for me. I do like her straight hair though. So natural, clean and unfussy, which highlights her beautiful facial features.

I like silk a lot, but this blouse is also too shiny-shiny for me. A subtle "shine" is ok, but offwhite is always difficult as a silk blouse. Frieda
ReplyDeleteShe has a "girly" body too, should she stop it somehow too? :-) Such a pity that this kind of association sticks. Some styles seem to be reserved for - well, either girls or matrons. The only thing that counts is how it looks, methinks. - Shiny (blouse) and matte (collar) complement each other nicely, for me. - And I love it when she does not have a fringe - the more she keeps her hair away from her face the better. (-Ann.)
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrible blouse. The shine, the puffiness, the oversized collar. The Duchess looks like an altar server. I can't find any redeeming qualities.
ReplyDeleteI do like her sleeker hair though. Straightened locks look nice on her. I'm so used to seeing her with blow outs or curls. This is a nice change.
I agree, the shirt really reminds altar server. But I like her sleeker hair too. Strong black eyebrows makes her look a bit harsh.

Thanks, exactly my thoughts. The blouse isn´t "girly" but childish and on top extremly oldfashioned. I like scalloped hems, but in combination with black on white satin it is a total miss.
DeleteThe creme satin makes her look pale, tired and exhausted.
She can do better.
I would prefer a white collar on a blouse, but otherwise it's very nice. I like her blouses overall. But what I like the most is her hair. (Sigh). Definitely the best hair among royals.
ReplyDeletePS: I have already ordered a similar coat as she wore Rememberance Day. Thanks for the inspiration, Kate.
We all have our favorite styles that suit us, and that's what we wear.
ReplyDeleteThe shiny white material is close to overpowering, so the oversized black scalloped Peter Pan collar is a nice barrier to offset the blinding force of that blouse.
What bugs me is the fact that you can see the white of the blouse around her neck - I wish the collar had been sewn on differently (or is it detachable?).

Looks like a clip on collar to me.
DeleteBezaubernde Catherine , sie macht einfach alles richtig :: William hat Riesenglück mit seiner Herzogin !!
ReplyDeleteThe black collar sets off the poppy beautifully. I love her hair straight. It is a very nice look on her and a nice change from her blown out curls. The slight cat-eye is very well done and subtle. That is an eye many struggle to achieve. Her conversation with the families heartwarming, and it is easy to see how much it means to them to know that their loved ones are remembered and as families they are still supported.
ReplyDeleteTh e blouse is nice; the collar colour is quite fitting as a contrast to the silk material of the blouse, it shows off the poppy well. Kate's complexion looks lovely; as does her hair.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blouse...and the collar adds a touch of class. Kate is a great asset to the monarchy, and continues her dedication to her work and family.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteVery trendy shimmering blouse with puffed sleeves.
I would have done without the collar.
Like her professional make- up a lot.
Catherine looks sooo gorgeous, although I agree with many others that the shininess of the blouse's fabric detracts from her overall look. I think perhaps it just makes for "too much going on" when combined with the full sleeves, the scalloped collar, and the poppy. That said, I think this garment successfully combines drama -- the stark color contrast and the oversized collar -- with "girly" elements, quite an unusual achievement imo.
ReplyDeleteThe eye makeup is done incredibly well; in less skilled hands it could have ended up looking terrible.
Agree with Jane Chantal!
DeleteYes, to hair and makeup. The blouse is a about the ugliest thing I've seen in a while.
ReplyDeleteLovely - I think she looks great. The material is a little shiny but I like the contrast between black and white and the pop of red from the poppy. Loving the straight hair and her make up.
ReplyDeleteC'est peut-être un joli chemisier mais ce col noir à bord festonné ne flatte pas tellement Kate ; ravissante quand même avec son teint joliment maquillé et sa chevelure lissée !

ReplyDeleteI have just noticed that the make of the blouse is "Ghost" (picture with model wearing it.) Well that is exactly what it looks like a ghost outfit maybe she was influenced by Halloween that has just been. On looking at it on the model I like it even less.
ReplyDeleteWhile this blouse may not be her best look, she still looks pretty. Her makeup looks great and her hair is sleek and healthy looking.
