    Well done, God bless!
What a lovely and regal Countess,

  2. The material is beautiful but the short sleeves, poor fit, and sloppy ties are a miss.

The dress looks absolutely fine and even if it is poorly fitted with short sleeves etc. I honestly cannot see what on earth is unsuited to a visit to church.

The outfit is okay for church except for the short sleeves & rawhide-looking ties. Is she going riding after church?

There's a reason ministers etc wear what they do so that they're totally covered when before the Lord; they don't preach in shorts & T-shirts.

However, Sophie's modest choice isn't all that bad compared to how some people dress for church. And she's almost entering cleavage territory.

Last time I looked women no longer ride in skirts - or side saddle so I highly doubt she was planning a church/riding combo outfit.

The tasselly bits serve no use other than as decoration - down to personal taste IMO rather than unsuitable for a place of worship.

The "short" sleeves practically reach her elbows and unless her bosom has climbed several centimetres north that dress is nowhere near cleavage territory.

Seriously, I think some people need to make the distinction between their personal taste and whether an outfit is suitable for a particular event. There is absolutely nothing immodest about this outfit.

    5. Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with the short sleeves being immodest. I guess I should have been more specific and pointed out that these "short" sleeves are too long. I think it would have looked better if they were a couple of inches shorter or just been long sleeve. My issue with these short sleeves is that they are both ill fitting and unflattering.

    1. Agreed, beautiful dress. And short sleeves aren't allowed in church? LoL

  5. For me, the dress is perfect for the occasion. Sombre, discrete with just a touch of "fashion".
I'm sure that many bereaving people and families will appreciate this service.

  6. Belle Sophie dans cette robe qui lui va à merveille mais je n'aime pas ses manches courtes ; quel contraste avec les superbes bottes. Délicat médaillon au bout d'une petite chaîne !

Dress and boots are perfect I think, but those long tan ties ? Can't imagine what they add to the dress. I wonder what Sophie's pretty pendant is.

    1. The Countess is wearing an Hermes Constance Amulette pendant in (I believe) rose gold and diamonds. She’s worn it many times.

    to Laurel 19.50:
Her dress is fine. She is dressed appropriately - these sleeves are fine for church - in the summer. But in November, I think she should have a coat. It use to be pretty cold in old cathedrals.
Sophie is a beautiful elegant lady. But her main advantage is her behavior: dignified, modest and full of respect for others. And she has a really nice voice - it's a pity we can't hear her reading.

You can't dictate whether or not a person wears a coat. Not even in a church. She is not wearing a hat, so I cannot see why a coat should matter. She is the only one that knows if she is warm enough. This looks like a "Sophie dress". It is nothing too special, but it serves its purpose. The point is that she is there and honoring those who have passed.

Not my favourite in many respects. Not a very suitable sartorial choice for a church service (although you are right in pointing out other royals have done much worse; being a very‘likeable’ royal, she can get by with it, I can only imagine if this were the Duchess of Sussex what the comments would be...). Also, place and occasion assise, 3/4 sleeves and heavy boots are a rather unsuitable combination. Given how she gets rides to and from events (and the current temperatures) she made a pretty weird footwear choice. I also don’t think this dress/cut does her any favour. So - not my favourite in many respects. CH

I like the dress very much, but I think the dropped shoulder isn’t the most flattering look for Sophie.

That is hitting the nail on the head. She does not have a tendency to dress in the most flattering way for her body. I think she leans toward her interpretation of what is expected of her as a member of the firm.
