  1. Copper wedding anniversary? I did not know this word. I live in Germany and we are lucky to have a lot of italian ice-cafes here (hello, Maria!) and most of the "dishes" are called Coppa (Coppa Mocca, Coppa Pistacchio etc), so I first thought this news is about Marie and Joachim eating ice-cream.
    Now I want a "Spaghetti-Eis".

    2. in Holland a copper wedding is a well known normal expression also. And that “ coppa” is italian for cup has really nothing to do with it!

Oh my gosh, some fun is needed on this site every now and then!
      Thank you , Coralie!
The Copper Anniversary does not exist in Italy either, we are just making jokes!

    4. In England, a good "coppa" tea is when you put at least three tea bags in a mug with hot water to calm your nerves down.

    5. Maria, Grazie mille! Tell us: which part of Italy are you from? I always think that you must be from Venezia. You once mentioned that you are blond, and when I think of you I have a picture in my head: in the morning "Maria from Italy" is walking over one of the many bridges in Venezia and the mild sun of november is shining on her blond hair, which matches the golden ornaments of the Basilica di San Marco in the background, and all the Gondolieri think: "As long as there is so much beauty in the world, things can't be that bad!"

    6. If I'm correct this is their 12,5 wedding anniversary.
Copper wedding means "Kupfernehochzeit" in German, but we call it "Petersilienhochzeit" (engl.: parsley wedding anniversary) in Germany.

Copper wedding is celebrated after 7 years of marriage in Germany.

      @ Coralie
Dear Coralie, first of all let me thank you for your wonderful words!
Now, hold tight, I am not from Venice, I am from Sicily, even though I am a ' Globetrotter' because I studied and lived abroad for a period of my life and now I go out and about because of my job.
There has been a number of dominations in Sicily, including the Normans, so lots of women are blonde and with a fair skin tone.
When talking about Sicily, one would expect to find dark haired and tanned people everywhere.
However, there are many exceptions and yes, I could even look like a Venetian woman!
Have a nice day and a big hug from me,
      Maria

Have a wonderful day and a hug from me too,
      Maria

He has been interviewed recently and he said he is feeling well , but it is something which will take some more time.
He spoke about his life in Paris with his family and how his priorities have changed since his hospitalization last summer.

  9. He looks tired (you can see it in his eyes), more so than she, but they also look calm. Best wishes for his continued return to good health.

    1. Agree, he looks very tired and still a bit washed out but that is expected and it will take time. I wish him well.

    2. I noticed it too (though maybe it was just me since no one had commented). I truly hope is doing well and continuing to improve. I know it's a personal matter but sometimes "official statements" regarding the health of a royal will "skim over" the entire truth of the matter.

On another note: I remember when Fred and Mary celebrated this "anniversary." I believe their household staff actually woke them from bed (part of the tradition, I believe) to congratulate them.

      Europa.

    3. Having lived with someone close to me who suffered the same health problem, I can confirm that it takes time. Lots of love and support from family and friends can do wonders. Sometimes even better than medication.
