On October 7, 2020, Queen Maxima visited Utrecht within the scope of ‘’More music in the classroom’’ programme. Queen Maxima attended a meeting at Tivoli in Utrecht and signed an agreement with local partners, which is related to giving more music education in schools. Tivoli is a popular music venue and cultural center in Utrecht. Queen Maxima is the honorary president of "More music in the classroom" (Meer Muziek in de Klas) programme.
Queen Maxima wore a claret multi embroidered wool cashmere coat from Oscar de la Renta, and a red open-back midi dress from Massimo Dutti.

The coat is gorgeous. I like the cut of the dress and think it looks nice on Maxima. Normally, I love monochromatic looks but I would have preferred the dress in gray or black. I think the coat would pop more. Great boots and bag. The snake earrings are fun but not my personal taste. Her ponytail is ok but it could be a little higher on the back of her head. Can't decide if I like her eye make-up.
ReplyDeleteE.B.B.
I agree that a black dress would have enhanced the coat and the overall look.
DeleteAgree, also the over the shoulder cape thing she does looks too disheveled. That said I think the pic with her in the mask and coat blowing looks like a superhero😊.

A picture says more than thousand words :)
ReplyDeleteFor all that she is/does, this outfit again screams, 'look at me'... Just too over the top, even for her. Lovely smile. No negative comments on my opinion, after all, it is my opinion that she dresses way to flashy for a Queen, sometimes she gets it right, most of the time, not quite on target.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't agree that it screams look at me in a necessarily negative way - I just think it says she has more flamboyant taste than many people. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Also, I don't think look at me is always a bad thing if you're the Queen - if people come to see you, then you're visible.
DeleteThe British monarch always dresses "Look at me" in extremely bright colours sometimes. There is method in their madness, they stand out and that is on purpose. That way no one is likely to make a mistake of who is who especially in the case of Queen Elizabeth as she is so tiny she really has to be seen. After all that is what most people want to do and have come to do.
DeleteThat does not mean I like Maxima's get up to day. I think this is definitely a miss today.
I also think she should consider ordering capes not coats. That way she could just stick her arms through the slits and save on fabric used for sleeves. Including the dressmakers time and energy putting in the sleeves which is the most difficult and time consuming part of producing garments with beautifully set in sleeves.
Would you also say Queen Elizabeth's outfits are over the top? See examples here:

As somebody already mentioned, it's the whole point of being a queen, people come to see you, so "look at me" is the right attitude.
@nalerina Why do you think wearing a coat over the shoulders is such a problem? There is nothing wrong with doing that. There are dozens of articles about "drape vs. cape", "slung jacket/coat or slinging a coat", "shoulder draping", for example. It is not done just for style, either, though it is very chic. It is a way of wearing your coat when it is a little too warm for the coat, but too cool to go without. It is also a way to stay warm without ruining a delicate outfit underneath, or when the outfit has bulky sleeves or is a chunky sweater, etc.
DeleteOverdone yet again.
ReplyDeleteI love her hair. She needs to incorporate hairpieces more often. The dress is great. It fits, and is a nice length. The color is fantastic on her. She looks great when she wears monochromatic outfits. This is a lot of a very bright color, but so much better than what we have come to expect from her.
ReplyDeleteMáxima has again crossed that fine line. ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteLittle Red (sorry big) Riding Hood.
ReplyDeleteLook out for that nasty wolf or should I say, nasty critics on NewMyRoyals.
But seriously, her smile, her energy and attitude win the day.
Bravo Queen Maxima.
p.s. love the "fun" earrings.
Love it especially the coat, which would also work really well with a black or grey dress. Personally, I would ditch the earrings.
ReplyDeleteEach piece of clothing is good, but together? Too much.
ReplyDeleteFrom one extreme to the other: that’s Maxima.
The earrings: way over the top, the hair: good at last: why not always wear it this way?
Cannot be difficult and gives a royal look.
Too much red, accessories in a contrasting colour would have been a better choice.
ReplyDeleteI do not like the coat, even though the dress is flattering in itself.
Like the (extension) pony tail, she looks tidy and beautiful.
Oh la la, trop de rouge surtout le manteau avec de gros motifs ; j'aime bien quand même son sac à mains ainsi que les bottes !
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Gorgeous!!! I love the color!! The coat is a work of art!! So rich, bright and beautiful!! Well done!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a WOW-outfit!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, luxurious red. She truly dresses as the power woman she is and she’s not afraid to shine. Very inspiring, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteLove her pony tail.

Fabulous! As always!
ReplyDeleteWHAT! Maxima we are overwhelmed here! 😮
ReplyDelete-the snake earrings
-too much read
-red boots
Difficult to make up my mind. The best from it IMV is the poney tail and the dress looks lovely, as well as accessories, that is the easy bit. Over the coat and earrings I think it is probably too much, however we judge her shining wishes.
No one can wow with a monochrome outfit like Maxima does. Just awesome, in my view.
ReplyDeleteI like the ponytail and the smile.
ReplyDelete(-Ann. :-)
I like the dress and the idea of a matching type coat, however, the flowers are just not pretty. The red boots are not the greatest choice, but the snake earrings are the worst choice of all.
ReplyDeleteRenee
She should take cues from Catherine in the UK. Quiet, understated, classic, not 'look at me' I'm so important. Her personality is the only positive about this horrid outfit.
ReplyDeleteI agree but fear she will not recognize the class in C’s style.
DeleteTotally different personalities and cultural backgrounds.
I’m confused... Being quiet, understated, classic and acting unimportant IS part of one’s personality. So which part of Maxima’s personality exactly you believe is positive, and which part do you want to change into Catherine’s?
DeleteAnd do you think she will then still be the same person, or rather some kind of hybrid: a Maxirine?

I like the dress of the model.............and then............ she over decorates is with everything possible (boots, bag, earrings, heavy makeup, on top of it a red coat), all elegance of het dress is gone..........) More, more and more........... the effect of it is less...........
ReplyDeleteWell said!
DeleteI'm surprised she's not also wearing red gloves and a red mask. ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely, well groomed, love her hair. Accessories are perfect.
ReplyDeleteWow , she looks good. Her clothes are a perfect match with her sparkling personality. She is well educated, poised woman who looks spectacular no matter what she wears. - Siri
ReplyDeleteThis is Maxima style in all the right ways. We all know she goes overboard, but here, in a monochromatic way, it works and isn't tacky. I like the cut of the dress, and those are great boots. The jewelry is way too much.
ReplyDeleteChel
I think this is a beautiful outfit and suits her flamboyant style perfectly. That coat is simply gorgeous! The only thing I would change is the large, flashy earrings. Something more subtle, rubies maybe, would have been better. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteMaxima at her flamboyant best--completely over the top. Love the red dress, which looks like a great fit and a good length. Love the coat too and the boots and the bag. Not sure if there would have been some benefit in some contrast somewhere--different coloured boots, perhaps. hair looks really good but although I like big earrings, these are just a little overdone for my liking. She exudes joie de vivre. Long may she cheer us.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Annie. Agreed on all your points.
