On September 01, 2020, the 12-year-old Princess Eleonore of Belgium started the first day of her new school. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde accompanied the Princess at the Sacred Heart College (Heilig-Hartcollege) in Tervuren, Belgium. Princess Eleonore started secondary school this year.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, pupils aged 12 and above are obliged to wear a face mask all day. Queen Mathilde wore an Adria asymmetric jumper and Milan trousers, both by Natan, which she had worn before.

Perhaps Mommy is too glamed up for a school drop. Casual trousers and no stilettos would have been great.

I agree..
DeleteMy goodness, that is a lot of red! I think the matching mask is a step too far, but at least the garments fit well. They must have been headed to another function afterwards, as this seems too dressy for this occasion. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteOh Dear! I disagree totally about the garments fit. The first time the queen wore this outfit I really liked it but I am afraid like a lot of us she is fighting Corona kilo's at the moment. The top fits very badly now Natan should remake it a size bigger. Agree that the mask in the same colour is just one step too far.
DeleteI love Queen Mathilde, but have never thought pants look good on her -- and brightly-colored pantsuits seldom look good on anyone, imo. Would love, love, love occasionally to see her in casual, flowy summer dresses with a bit of a peasant/prairie vibe. That look would have worked well for this first-day back-to-school trip. I appreciate that Mathilde always makes an effort to go out in public looking attractive and well-groomed, so that Belgians can look at her and say with pride, "There is our Queen!".
ReplyDeleteShe looks great in pants.
DeleteTrès jolie couleur pour la reine que j'aurais bien vue dans une tenue plus décontractée que du "Natan" pour la rentrée scolaire d'Eleonore dans sa nouvelle école !
ReplyDeleteShe definitely pulls of the ‘queen’ look 👌
ReplyDeleteLove the bright colour worn by Queen Mathilde but it's a bit overpowering, even for me. Perhaps some contrast somewhere? I agree with Jane Chantal that trousers are rarely the most flattering look for the Queen. Love the matching mask and gorgeous shoes. Princess Eleanore is another young royal who seems top have had a growth spurt during lockdown
ReplyDeleteI truly dislike this outfit, the top doesn't fit her very well either, and although vibrant colors can be flattering in this case is a little too much, she is surely hard to miss among the crowd:-)

My only criticism of Queen Mathilde's outfit is the fold/wrinkle across her shoulder and bodice. It seems the garment may be too tight across her shoulders. Otherwise, I think she looks fabulous as does the King who is also dressed formally. Perhaps they did have appearances after the school run.
ReplyDeleteBold, vibrant color. I like the pants. I agree the coordinating mask is a little overkill. I hope they had another event after. The outfit is kinda wasted on school drop off.

I like this traditon of first-day-school-runs
ReplyDeleteI do too. And I really like seeing these royal kids dressing like every other kid. It is so much better for them to have the balance of a normal childhood along with their royal life.
DeleteLovely that both parents were able to attend the first day of a new school for Princess Eleonore.
ReplyDeleteUne couleur qui flashe j'aime beaucoup et masque assorti
ReplyDeleteI was quietly pleased that she has on spanks. Covid has caused many of us to need a little controlling of the figure.
ReplyDeleteToo much vibrant red for me.
ReplyDeleteI like to see that both parents are so loving and of comfort to Eleonore on her first school day.
I saw other pics and Eleonore grasped her mother' s arm in one of them.
