King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended the concert Für Jan van Eyck
On September 22, 2020, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the concert "Für Jan van Eyck" at the St. Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent. The concert was performed by the world-famous ensemble Collegium Vocale Gent and presented a new work for choir and organ by famous Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Collegium Vocale Gent celebrates its 50th birthday in 2020.
In 2020, Ghent and Flanders are honouring their great Flemish Master, with a theme year in the city, a new visitors centre for the Ghent Altarpiece, and a large-scale touristic Flemish Masters programme. Jan van Eyck once lived in Ghent, where his magnum opus (Het Lam Gods' Altarpiece) still adorns the St. Bavo's Cathedral.
Pants would fall better if they were two inches longer. I don’t like the cream sweater with the metallic pants. A darker color sweater would be better. Love the earrings and hair.
ReplyDeleteE.B.B.
Love her hair and pullover, not so sure about the pants.
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh²
ReplyDeleteCan I ask what your comment means?
DeleteNice hairstyle and like the sparkly mask. The outfit is okay but trousers are never the best look
ReplyDeleteMust have fallen asleep before I finished the sentence!! meant to say, trousers are never the best look for Queen Mathilde, in my opinion, and these definitely add inches to her hips
DeleteThe sweater with other pants or skirt would be lovely. However, it's a sweater, to casual for the dressy pants. Length/color of pants is fine. A dark gray blouse with billowy sleeves would have looked good. She is lovely no matter what she wears, hair and earrings, spot on. The King's tie, does not tie in with her outfit. Usually, they are very coordinated.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks great. I love the cream jumper against the grey pants. Her accessories are lovely, little grey clutch is gorgeous. Her up style is perfect.
ReplyDeleteVery nice ensemble, fab pants (and mask), and super sleek, mod hair.
ReplyDeleteQ Mathilde looks great!

Totally agree with you Bepa . She looks amazing.
DeleteI like the sparkly trousers (plus coordinating mask) but I think the sweater is a bit of a day look. Maybe a grey or a black one in a silkier finish would have looked better. Loving her hair like this.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteFor a semi-formal, evening occasion, the pants and top are O.K.
ReplyDeleteNot such a good choice if it was a big "hob-nob" occasion with other Royals and dignitaries.
Mathilde is beautiful in this outfit, very stylisch.
ReplyDeleteI like the originality but agree that trousers aren't the best look for her.
ReplyDeleteI like what Mathilde is wearing. I know pants are not her best look, but she is not banned from wearing them. These pants are a Glen plaid sequin, with a matching mask, and she has paired them with a white/off white blouse, not a sweater. I have seen pictures on another site and the color does vary depending on the shot, but is reported to be white. I can't be sure about the color, but it is a blouse to be sure. You can see the cuffs and there is a pleated detail on the shoulder. She is wearing the perfect color coordinating shoes, and brought a little more bling with her bag. I love her hair styled this way. She looks very chic.
ReplyDelete"St. Bavo's Cathedral" !!!
ReplyDeleteIl s'agit de la cathédrale Saint Bavon.
Sparkly trousers ( and mask)are out of place on a formal morning engagement.
ReplyDeleteBasic fashion rule.
I like the sweater and Mathilde' s updo, though.
Yes, the reason for the mask completely disappears at formal evening events.
DeleteCheveux joliment coiffés en chignon ; petit pull qui lui va à merveille mais je ne suis pas fan du pantalon dont nous retrouvons le scintillant dans le masque ; avec les boucles d'oreilles, c'est un choix judicieux !
ReplyDeleteThe sparkly mask is a little too OTT for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd apart from that, not everything (except with Mathilde) has to be 'matchy-matchy'.

Sparkling trousers are out of place both on formal morning or evening engangements, actually.
ReplyDelete* ...both on formal morning and evening engagements...
ReplyDeleteLove her hair; Sweater too casual for the pants; Pants, ok.
