The traditional opening of the new working year of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) took place on September 8, 2020, Tuesday. A traditional church service was held at Stockholm Cathedral before the opening which marks the start of the 2020/21 parliamentary year. King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended that church service. Afterwards, the King and Queen attended the opening of 2020 working year of the Parliament at Riksdag building in Stockholm.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the opening of the Riksdag session became different than in the past years, and fewer Riksdag members and a small number of invited guests attended the opening session. Only 190 of 348 members of the Riksdag and half of the government ministers attended, because of the safety measures. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia did not attend.

ReplyDeleteI love the pearl necklace and accessories on this simple but elegant outfit. The jacket looks as though it is hand woven. I think Q. Sylvia’s hat could be better though. The basic pillbox shape suits her, but the netting looks a bit crumpled. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteAt first I was not so keen on Queen Sylvia's outfit because of the sharp contrast of the black and white. When I saw it up close you could see the pretty texture of the white fabric, the fringe and how it was finished off with the pearl brooch and the pearl necklace and then I really liked the outfit. She definitely has some talented stylist! I think she could have gone with a black hat or a black and white hat but the white was a good choice as well!

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful outfit, very elegant and chic. The jacket particularly is lovely. The addition of pearl necklace, drop earrings and brooch, is the perfect finishing touch.

ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia as elegant as ever. I very much like the idea of the outfit and the style of the jacket but would have preferred the jacket a bit longer. When you see it in profile in the second picture it's not flattering at that length. Still a classy outfit, though.
