Charming lady. But ... nobody should wear brown. Ever. Most depressing color (for women's clothing) that exists. Of course, only my humble opinion ... (-Ann.)

    1. I disagree. There are a lot of shades of brown (nougat, chocolate, camel) that can look really elegant and feminine.

  2. Je trouve qu'en portant son haut dans une couleur camel-clair, elle aurait été ravissante avec son pantalon noir ; magnifiques escarpins dont j'adore le style !

  3. I really like this looks! She looks very nice on the photo were we could see all the look, however I would prefer to see some close photos, but the blouse seems to be perfect on her, like it was made on her body, it's not my preferred colour but she looks very nice on her.
The trousers have the right lent and belt and shoes are great complements.
Overall, for me she really looks elegant, formal in a business outfit.

  4. In the last picture, the blouse looks more like a bronze colour and much improved for that. In the earlier photos, it's just drab. Like the shoes, like the trousers (are they navy or black?) but not sure of the colour combo

The color is not suited for 90% of the population, including Mary.

  8. The blouse is not brown , but the so called and so trendy cognac colour.
    She looks faboulous.
Each piece is accurately coordinated with the others and the shoes are to die for.
    Perfection again.
    Her hair are impeccably styled.
    A regal vision.

Yes, smug is the word that comes to my mind too. As far as style....I like the blouse color, but the pants make her look larger than she is and the belt is quite bad.

Unknown 11:44 to say Crown Princess Mary is smug is a insult and to compare her to Queen Letizia is even worse. Letizia always has a studied look and appears to always be posing. Crown Princess Mary who is elegant, beautiful and very confident and is always at ease with herself and very natural. I once read that many thought that Prince Rainier married up when he wed grace Kelly and although I really like Crown Prince Frederick I feel that he married up when he wed Mary. She has a degree both in law and business and is the star of Denmark and will be even more so when she becomes Queen. It has always been said that Frederick never wanted to be King until he wed Mary. It will be Mary and not Frederick who will be the face of Denmark as King and Queen!!!

@ Lily T. & 11:44 Brown is often a difficult color to wear successfully. Off white or beige pants would have done the trick and still matched the shoes. Fashion should not include reading facial expressions. Why would she be smug at such an event? Embarrassing, this unsheathing of claws for no reason and throwing other women into the mix who are not visible in the picture. A more adult level of thinking please. AB

Oh my. I'm late to this party and I'm having quite the chuckle..at the suppositions and the responses..and especially the indignant retorts, lol! First of all..I think Mary's outfit is smart and appropriate to the event. It's business like, especially the colour which lends itself perfectly to the seriousness of the meeting.
And as for the other issue, I have to say that 'smug' has never entered the vocabulary I would ever use for this smart lady. Poised and confident, yes. Bold and straightforward, definitely. But smug? Um, no. Jeepers! lol.

  10. I truly love the brown/bronze combination, I know that it was taboo back in the day as well as many others like pink/red, pink/orange, dark blue/ black etc., but if worn well it can be beautiful. The blouse is delicate with a 70’s vibe and it fits her like a glove. The belt helps elevate the outfit. She looks elegant and poised.

The blouse isn't my favourite colour but I like the overall look. I like the softer flow of the top contrasted with the sharper tailoring of the trousers. Love the shoes.

    1. My problem with her outfit is not the color of the blouse, it’s the fit. It appears too tight across the shoulders and it looks like it is pulling across the top button. Her makeup looks phenomenal, however.

  13. Anonymous14/9/20 20:46

The silhouette of the blouse is beautiful and is a great choice for an online meeting. The color is probably not the best on her, but is a solid color and has interest in the sleeves. I think the belt makes this outfit look more casual and cuts her in half instead of giving her a longer, taller line. I like her hair and makeup.

The full length view is not good, belt cuts the middle, the shoes are a detraction from a long lean look, and the blouse is not pretty. Not a typical day when Mary makes a wrong step.

I think is not the brownish color but the wrong style of the blouse.

Honestly, I agree with you about Letizia who looks studied and posing all the time( she still remains one of the most elegant royal ladies anyway).
No comparisons can be made with Mary, actually.
Mary always shines like a star, she has a sort of inner allure or light which radiates from inside, irrispective of the clothes she is wearing.
Yes, she is smart, well educated, self -confident and very professional.
The truth is I didn't want to say what you wrote about Letizia openly.

it is interesting how much the view points on the same outfit can differ, each one of us has a different perception when it comes to aesthetic taste and that's absolutely fine. What struck me more than the outfit was the way in which she delivered the speech - some may call it smug, some self-confident. For me it was way too staged, way too rehearsed, like she was acting, I get that feeling a lot of time with her. The way she moved her hands was not natural as it was not in synchrony with what she was saying at each respective point in time, which for me means that she is far more alert to the visual impact she is projecting to the audience rather than to the content of her words. I may be wrong, but the average person would not make those hands gestures and so frequently while articulating those sentences in a relaxed state of mind - unless you do it in front of a mirror, trying to emulate a Oscar ceremony speech.... Duchess Catherine has a similar problem when speaking in public, she gestures with her hands way too much unnecessarily - a sign of nervousness in her case.... Well, my psychology session is over for today ;-) Interested to hear other commenters' views

    2. Sorry, I do not agree about gestures.
Mary gave a speech online and I personally do not see such a considerable amount of hand gestures.
I immagine she has a camera in front of her , no people there.
She has to concentrate also on the audience she is addressing to, quite normal.
      She can' t be motionless.
I cannot find differences between her and Victoria while addressing her audience in another post( sorry, I do not remember details, I mean when Victoria had her hair loose and received lots of compliments for her
      hair style on this blog).

@Maria....., Hello! Nice to hear from you..... I am not angry, not at all. Mary is one of the best dressed royals. That being said, in spite of her very good sartorial choices (or rather the choices of her stylist) there is something about her that I do not find appealing or attractive...... an air of over self confidence.....
And that is all I have to say about it. It is just an opinion, same as that of the ladies on this forum who think that she is fantastic.
