On July 8, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the downtown area of Jaca and the old monastery of St Juan de la Pena. The monastery of San Juan de la Peña is a religious complex in the town of Santa Cruz de la Serós, at the south-west of Jaca, in the province of Huesca. San Juan de la Peña means 'Saint John of the Cliff'.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia are visiting cities around the country to see the different social and economic situations after the coronavirus lockdown. Queen Letizia wore a new puff sleeve sweater by Massimo Dutti.

ReplyDeleteI love Letizia but not a fan of this outfit--with the short trousers she could have got away with flat trainers and not gone for the ugly shoes which might have been okay with a shorter skirt. The top is okay but such a dull colour. Hope she is back to the bright summer outfits soon
ReplyDeleteweird outfit on Queen. i prefer the lady in the skirt

They are travelling all around the country visiting each region, there are 17...they have seen 6 until now.
ReplyDeleteShe deserves confortable clothes, Spain is a large country, every trip is about 1000 kms..go and return....they will end up worn out. It is hot, about 40C also.
I don't dislike either piece, but I think black pants are difficult to combine in the summer and only a vibrant print on top could have saved the look. I like that they are are modern and stylish but the total look is just blah. I like the shoes, as they balance the length of the pants. She looks OK, but this outfit is not one of her best.
ReplyDeleteLove the hair, and the exemplary behavior of the royal couple by observing health protocols.
Hello Cherry Blossom its so nice to hear from you and hope you are doing well. You have always been in my thoughts and prayers as you and all the other front line staff worked extreme circumstances.... good to have you back!
DeleteAgreed with you (as I find is often the case). With one exception: I really dislike the shoes. But otherwise the top and the pants on their own are ok, just I don’t like the combination. CH
DeleteHey, Cherry Blossom. I remember your post early in the Covid crisis and that you were nursing in New York. Have often wondered if you were well. Good to see you back.
ReplyDeleteThis has been marvellous seeing the Royal couple touring different areas. They have done a superb job.
ReplyDeleteI like this sweater, and I often don't like puff sleeves (I think it's the folds that give it the edge here). As for those saying the outfit is too blah, they are visiting a monastery. I think it's a great choice for the occasion. Seeing her in a cheery summer dress wouldn't fit the occasion. I like the dark shoes with the pants.
ReplyDeleteChel
Chel, you could dress appropriately without being boring. Look at the woman accompanying them, elegant, feminine and very appropriate. Letizia's outfit is all right but boring regardless.
ReplyDeleteHH
Oh dear I sort of agree with everyone. Boring. I am not a fan of puff sleeves on a sweater am just lukewarm about them in a blouse or dress. She is wearing two of my pet hates: wider elegant well cut trousers 3/4 or 7/8 lengths (dont mind so much if they are tight casual types) and wedge espadrilles which I normally think I hate but find quite nice here but would have prefered with full lenth trousers or a midi length wide skirt.
DeleteWhat I admire most about her is that she always looks like she made an effort to look like she took some care in what she chooses even if very casual to dress simply but well for the people she will meet.
