On July 17, 2020, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited the Bilbao city on the tour that they have started in Spain with the end of the state of epidemic alarm. Bilbao is a city in northern Spain, the largest city in the province of Biscay and in the Basque Country as a whole. King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the Guggenheim Museum in the Basque city of Bilbao. (Queen Letizia wore a printed midi dress by ZARA.)

ردحذفI find the shoes a bit clunky with such a light, floaty dress, but Q. Letitia does have very slim legs which makes the contrast more obvious. (V.M.)

ردحذفI agree with everyone about the shoes. These clunky wedges never really look good, especially when viewed from the side. When you see them from the front, they look more delicate than there are, and that´s the view you get when looking in the mirror. They trick the wearer. I think wedges can work with sporty outfits of sturdy fabrics, like denim or corderoy, but with delicate designs or formal wear - no. And plateau wedges never work in my view. Letizia, Kate and Mathilde seem very fond of their wedges, and ironically, they have the least suited bodies for that type of shoe as they all have slim legs and a slender frame. Amalia looked alright in her wedges, she´s got the right body type, wore a more casual dress and was walking on grass so the thick soles didn´t show as much.
ردحذفVanessa, you make a very good point about the importance of body type in the equation. It's something I had a hard time accepting when I was a teenager and longed to wear the miniskirts and minidresses that were all the rage at the time. Nobody told me they just did not work with my body type -- it was the mirror that told me. A hard lesson, sometimes, but a valuable one imo 🙂.
