The Duke of Edinburgh celebrates his 99th birthday today, on June 10, 2020. On the occasion of the 99th birthday of the Duke of Edinburgh, Buckingham Palace released a new photo of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, which was taken last week in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle.
Prince Philip has stayed at Windsor Castle together with the Queen during the coronavirus lockdown. It is the first public photo of the Duke since he was seen leaving hospital in London on 24 December last year.
The Queen is wearing an Angela Kelly floral dress. In addition, the Queen is wearing a heart-shaped 18.8 carat diamond brooch called Cullinan V, which she has worn many times, including for her granddaughter Princess Eugenie's wedding and London Fashion Week.
Happy birthday, Your Royal Highness. Great man from the "old school". He has always done a great job - during the war and in peace he dignifiedly represented your country - the United Kingdom. I appreciate his humor, sarcasm, directness and responsibility.
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me so much of my grandfather (who also fought in World War II).
Good for him not to participate in public life nowadays. I can imagine what he would say about vandalism in the current protests. Nowadays - in times of "political correctness" - activists would "crucify" him. Greetings from Slovakia
Agree with Anonymous 1:50!
DeleteSo agree with you...true gemtleman, but also straight forward...
Deletewow how incredible ! Queen wearing a lovely summer floral dress
ReplyDeleteThe outdoor picture makes them look very much their ages thou!
miss W
OOH! to think that they look their age you must be a very bouncy spring chicken yourself. They look and behave years younger. Have you ever heard of a 94 year old lady who still rides a horse before. They look elderly yes but nowhere near 94 and 99. The queen especially looks much younger to me.
DeleteWonderful man. So lovely to see he is still well. He has given such outstanding service to the UK for so many years without any fuss or fanfare. Great photo and like the Queen's summery outfit. Happy birthday, sir
ReplyDeleteUn couple qui paraît alerte malgré son âge. En ce 10 juin 2020, je souhaite un bon et heureux anniversaire au Duc !
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Birthday your Royal Highness.
ReplyDeleteFashion wise, they both present an impressive image for their age.
Perfectly dressed.
A history note: if you are interested and if you have the time, you may find the biography of Prince Philip's mother and father an interesting read.
Or you can pick up quite a bit of information via "Wikipedia".
Youngest child of 5 with four elder sisters. A father who died in Monaco and who stirred up a lot of gossip re his bisexuality. His mother, a remarkable woman, who often got landed with the title "très bohème".
Well, 99 is quite an achievement, wowzers. All the best to the Duke The Queen isn't all that far behind. Imagine 71yo Prince Charles having a 94yo mother... who is still out riding horses. ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteHappy (a little bit belayed, I'm sorry) birthday to him.
ReplyDeleteMay god bless him. I wish him health and a geat time and hope, he can reunite with his family soon, same like I wish this for everybody of us.
