On Friday, June 19, Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Before the wedding anniversary, Royal court of Sweden released a new official portrait of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. The photo was taken in Gustav III's pavilion at Haga. Crown Princess Victoria wore a specially designed wildflowers patterned dress by Swedish designer Frida Jonsvens. (probably)

Victoria looks really lovely (great hair style) and the dress is a lovely one in it's own right...but I'd have preferred to see her in the off-shoulders version. It is more youthful (appropriate for her) and would have shown off her fantastic, sporty figure much better. The skirt of the dress she is wearing is too full in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteDiesen Tag heute vor 10 Jahren werde ich nie vergessen - das war (nach meiner eigenen) die schönste und liebevollste Hochzeit, die ich je gesehen habe. Und ich wünsche den Beiden von ganzem Herzen, daß sie ihr Leben lang so glücklich und verliebt bleiben, wie sie es damals im Juni 2010 waren.
(Aber wer um alles in der Welt hat Daniel gesagt, er soll auf dem Foto da oben wie James Bond schauen ?? DIeser Mann hat so ein tolles Lächeln, schade, daß man das hier nicht sieht....)

DeleteThe dress does not suit her. And the photo is way too photoshopped. In comparison to recent photos of her you can see that she photoshopped herself thinner. Not a good role model.

Amelie, this is an ignorant comment. If you follow this blog on any sort of a regular basis, you will have seen comments from time to time that suggest clothes do not suit the wearer. One of the first rules of fashion is to dress for your body type. That is a difficult thing for women to do when they don't know what does flatter their body, or they don't realize that their body has changed shape. (No matter where you are in the world, you can hear the screams for Maxima to get a stylist.) I don't think Victoria has much help, but buys what she likes, or what she feels will be comfortable on her. She is also trying to project an image of authority with the suits she wears. Often, the result is ill fitting, oversized clothes. On this occasion, the gown was not off the rack, but tailored to her. Just as we all knew she would look better with her hair down, we knew she looks better in tailored clothes. This was an important occasion, and more thought went into it. The effort shows. Victoria has a waist, she just hides it most of the time. I don't know why you feel this dress does not suit her. She looks beautiful, while remaining true to HER style.
DeleteThe second reason I must take exception with your comment is the fact that Victoria has overcome an eating disorder (ED). It is so important not to make comments about the photographer artificially making her look thinner. It takes so much hard work to get to a point where an anorexic (or bulimic) can look at their body and accept what they see. They can also regress if the right, or should I say wrong, thing triggers the ED. Victoria is healthy and physically fit. This is a note to self moment: You never can tell what kind of harm comments can cause. She looks more slender because of the cut and fit of her gown, a very basic concept.
