On the occasion of World Bee Day celebrated on May 20 every year, Crown Princess Victoria took Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar to the hives at Haga. Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar and beekeeper Lotta Fabricius Kristiansen, who is responsible for the hives at Haga, got together and visited the Crown Princess family's beehives.
The beehives at Haga were a wedding gift to the Crown Princess couple from the Swedish Beekeepers' Association (SBR). During the visit, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar learned more about the different types of bees that exist and why they are important for our biodiversity. Around midsummer, the first honey is harvested from the hives at Haga.
During a normal year, the four bee communities at Haga usually produce between 80 and 100 kg of honey. The honey is then sold in the Slottsboden and the proceeds go to the Crown Princess couple's foundation which works for the health and welfare of children and young people in Sweden. Crown Princess Victoria has been an honorary member of the Swedish Beekeepers' Association since 2002.
Qu'ils sont adorables les petits princes qui ont l'air très intéressés par la nature. Peut-être que vers le milieu de l'été, le premier miel récolté dans les ruches de Haga sera pour eux !
ReplyDeleteThis is so heartwarming! Wonderful pictures in these troubled times!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great learning experience. I hope Estelle and Oscar will grow up humbly appreciating how privileged they are. They all look quite nice in their bee-keeping outfits. And what a joy for Victoria to be able to take both her children along now that they are older. ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteLove seeing parents interacting with their kids. They are always my favorite photos. I've never been a big fan of posed photos. These are particularly sweet. I love the interest and wonder captured as they explore the hives.
ReplyDeleteEvery inch a mother to both children and so she will be Queen.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely for the children. Great to see them able to get out and about. They are such sweet little ones.
