Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg have welcomed their first child - a baby boy - on Sunday morning.
Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie, has given birth to her first child, a son, at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital at 5:13 am this morning. The child weighs 3,190 kg and is 50 cm. Both mother and son are said to be in good health. The new royal and future grand duke is named Prince Charles Jean Philippe Joseph Marie Guillaume.
The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg said: Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie look forward to introducing him to the people of Luxembourg. His birth is to be celebrated with a 21-gun salute, and the Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple have expressed their wish that people support child welfare projects in lieu of sending gifts. Those wishing to make a gift as a birth gift can contact the Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchesse.
The Grand Ducal Court said: Part of the donations collected will thus be allocated to projects for the benefit of children in the Grand Duchy. The other part of the donations collected will help children in the most vulnerable countries, where famine has worsened since the start of the coronavirus crisis.
Hereditary Princess Stephanie's son is named Prince Charles Jean Philippe Joseph Marie Guillaume. New Prince carries a few traditional names. Jean – The name of Grand Duke Jean, who passed away last year at the age of 98, is included in the list of names. Philippe – The name Philippe is a tribute to the Hereditary Grand Duchess’ father, Count Philippe de Lannoy, who also passed away last year at the age of 96.
Now that is very very good news! I am so happy for them! Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteQuelle grande et merveilleuse nouvelle en ce dimanche matin.. Félicitations à ce sympathique et charmant couple !
ReplyDeleteBig Congrats to the new mother and the baby!
ReplyDeleteI always had a soft spot for Stephanie - who lost her mother just before her wedding, her marriage to the man who will one day be the patriarch of the country hence making her the matriarch.
(YES, unlike the past, monarchy doesn't "rule" the country but I think their symbolic presence is more than enough to attract interest to the country itself which I think has more positive influence than negative.)
The fact that they took their time with being parents I think is a testament that she took her role very seriously indeed unlike what so many people would like to believe.
Wish the new family the absolute best !

Such wonderful news, congratulations, can't wait to see the little prince Charles👑
ReplyDeleteFrom Joann - Wonderful news ! A bright spot in a troubled, scary world right now. We all needed this. By the way, there is a lovely picture out on the internet of Grand Duke Henri and the Grand Duchess , through Skype, looking at the proud Papa and the baby. I don't know how to post it here, but it would be nice if someone could do it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations💐What a great Mom's day gift!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely news. So happy for them and so delighted that all has gone well. They have always seemed to be such a charming and relatively low maintenance couple (given their status) with a well developed sense of duty. Congratulations to them all.
