Today is May 17 and Dutch Queen Maxima celebrates her 49th birthday. Queen Maxima was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 17 May 1971 as Maxima Zorreguieta. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were married in Amsterdam on Saturday 2 February 2002. The royal couple have three daughters, Princess Catharina-Amalia (the Princess of Orange), Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane.

As King Willem-Alexander’s wife, Queen Maxima’s main role is to support the head of state in performing his formal duties and the other work he does in the interests of the inhabitants of the Kingdom, assisting him in his task of unifying, representing and encouraging the people. Queen Maxima has been a member of the Council of State since 2004.

Queen Maxima holds numerous public posts. She also performs representative duties, such as representing the Royal House at official occasions of all kinds. Netherlands Government Information Service (RDV released new a photo on the occasion of the birthday. Happy birthday to you, Queen Maxima.

I love that she is such an enthusiast and always seems so interested in her visits as well as being able, given her banking background, to represent her country at various International meetings.
