Nice to see them again. Lovely suit ,but a little blend,MT hairstyle do not favor her,she looks better when her hairstyle is a bit looser. Henri looks nice in semi casual. Important that they keep conduct with the people.

Oh please royals, stop this publishing of “hard working” photos. It is an insult to people who do meaningful things that keep us all going....
Besides that, stop the extreme photoshopping MT.

    2. Rather harsh. Lily. Like everyone else they are trying to do something to help when their ability to do so is limited. They can hardly pose in formal wear and if shown sitting on a settee, then some people would criticise them for doing nothing! Their involvement will have a positive impact for their people.

Completely agree! I'm getting tired with these 'hard working royals' sitting on the phone, when I bet there's nobody on the other end of the phone call but the pics are made just for the show. I'm not saying they don't make any phone calls, but the pics published are for the show. - Ellie

I'm sorry, but where are you guys from? Because I'm from a country that has a monarch as the head of state and I'm on the receiving end of these 'hard working royals'-photos. I greatly appreciate these photos. The royals are not able to cure and save people, but they've got symbolism-value and are able to shed a little light on different things in their own countries. There's nothing wrong with that.
You might be tired of seeing photos like that, but please remember that they're aimed at their own people. You only got tired of them because you read a blog about royals and you've seen every monarchy's photos. Most people don't do that.

Dear R, I totally agree with you, we in Europe do expect our royals to set an example, their movements, actions, speeches, reflect strong symbolism and are rooted in history, all this has nothing to do with show time. Just think of the comportment of the Royal Family during the bombardment of London during World War II.

    9. I do so agree with 6.15 am. It is very important that the royal families are seen during this team. Remember the British king and queen during world war 2. They stayed at Buckingham Palace and tried to keep morale up for all those living through the bombing. They couldn't do anything specific but the symbolism was hugely important. In a different way the symbolism of seeing the current royal families keeping in touch with this situation is so important.

Why can't they simply send an encouraging message to their people, like The Danish and Norwegian Royals? Much better than these laptop photo sessions.

I for one am pleased to see the royals doing things like this. Their jobs in my view, involve more than public outings, etc. Much of what they do is behind the scenes. One princess - can't remember her name - said a good deal of her time is behind a desk or in meetings.
What they are photographed doing here is part of what they do. Royals reflect the culture of a country and they are its symbols - not only in good times, but in bad.
Their subjects have to be reassured that the business of state is going on and that their royals are keeping abreast of events. Grand Duke Henri and Teresa could be on the phone falling up on a request by someone to look into a problem a charity or agency is having during these confusing times.
Royals have to be seen, otherwise they have no real function. And technology makes it possible in today's crises for that to happen.

Correction: In the next to last paragraph I should have typed "following" instead of "falling." I hope you all caught on to what I was trying to say. I'm typing too fast sometimes and I make these errors. Thank you for your understanding.

    2. Sitting in meetings. I stopped reading there. Meetings are statistically unproductive and total waste of time. We will not talk about royals what they cost the poor suffering tax payer. The royals which are usually stolen royalties should be given oppertunity to get a real job. They have no function Worthly the costs

Royals do not have a real function IMO. Are you really comforted by their blabla speeches? Not even written by themselves and then reproduced clumsily and unconvincingly as Willem Alexaner did only week....

As an American, I, of course, have not been reared in the monarchial tradition. However, I value and support it for the millions of citizens in other countries.
This discussion is not a question of being "comforted," but rather one of "connection" to the larger machinery of government. The royals provide a symbol of continuity and tradition which, indeed, provides a level of comfort and security for those who choose that form of government. Whereas, in Republics such as the U.S., government has ongoing changes in leadership and legislation. When you say the royals have no function, you obviously do not see this connection. That is your opinion and you are free to express it. And, if I may say so, in these perilous times in which we are living, it serves no one to denigrate those who are indeed finding comfort in seeing their representatives in public -be they royals or elected officials. People who are suffering should feel free to find comfort where they can find it.And, by the way, royals probably do not write their own speeches but neither do government officials. Most have a staff of writers who prepare their speeches and they have communications directors who go over them and disseminate them to the public. And that doesn't even count their press secretaries who also weigh in.

That was and still is my opinion. No need to try to explain to me what royalists value in royalty.... I am aware of the ‘connective’ quality some think royals have but frankly I, personally, do not know any person who really feels that way. By the way, if expressing a different opnion on a forum means that you ‘denegrate’ people who think differently, a lockdown of internet is in order.

But clearly you care about what the royals are wearing. If you dislike them so much then why aren’t you avoiding them? I follow tons of fashion related accounts and fashion designers on instagram. I can get my daily dose of fashion there. There’s gotta be another way for you to follow fashion so that you can avoid watching people you clearly loathe.

When you made the statement, "Are you really comforted by their blabla speeches,"
I didn't take it that you were expressing an opinion. I interpreted it as an subtle nuanced statement questioning someone's intelligence because they were taking seriously royals' speeches that you clearly viewed as "blabla." That is far different than expressing an opinion which, as I said, you are certainly entitled to.
You may not have intended to cause offense, but I viewed the statement as unfortunate and not necessary to get across your points.

    2. Lily, everyone is entitled to his own opinion. I don't think this is the right place for devalorising royals and their work. Personally, I believe that somehow their role goes rather in the direction of keeping contacts with more vulnerable groups of the population or usually not addressed to with sufficient attention.

Mary, you personally believe one thing and I personally believe the opposite.... why on this site only fawning over the royals would be right, is also just an opinion.
They are paid extremely well out of tax money, which should make them objects to scrutinity. They do not need any qualification for these jobs nor do they have yearly evaluations. I, as a funder of their lifestyle by my tax payments, follow them with a very critical eye.

  15. Lily, again I respect the freedom of opinion. When I read about the new king of Thailand, I share your opinion, I admit, until he might change his attitude. But I think your general negative opinion is not acceptable, eg "royals are irrelevant and their speeches are blaba".
