The visit of Dutch King and Queen to Kalimantan, which was planned to be made on March 12, was cancelled due to a boat accident that occured on the river in Sebangau National Park on Kalimantan Island. On the third day of their state visit to, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited Sumatra. In Sumatra, The King and Queen first travelled to Lake Toba for a visit focusing on ecotourism and water quality. |
There, they visited a traditional Batak village where they received information about the history of the region and future developments. The King and Queen then visited the Del Institute of Technology to learn about the development of sustainable tourism. (The Queen wore a paisley-print linen dress by Zimmermann.) |
Afterwards, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima travelled by boat to Samosir Island in the middle of the lake, and there, they visited Silima Lombu ecovillage, built to show the local community the potential of sustainable tourism and small-scale organic farming. (The Queen wore a top and trousers by Natan.) |
Maxima's dress colour and pattern are lovely. The hat is an unfortunate over-sized beehive, and the Western high heels and pointy toes with that dress are a disaster. Such a bad combination! - Ellie
ReplyDeleteI love the dress - great colours, nice fit, and perfect for the occasion. I don’t think much of the hat though. It looks a bit squashed on her head and the colour is too close to her own hair colour. The culottes outfit is fine too for the activity, but I find the bottoms somewhat bulky. (V.M.)
ReplyDeletegenoten van foto,s en ook van het gelukkig stel!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat has she on her head, a beehive?
ReplyDeleteNo! Just no to the Natan outfit.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric of Zimmerman dress is cute but, not sure the style works on Max.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always loved this beautiful dress, and Maxima looks lovely in it. The wide cropped pants, though, do not suit her.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks great in both outfits. Love the pink dress, the hat and hairdo. Bravo Maxima.
ReplyDeleteShe is a real beauty!
DeleteLet me put it this way: the country is very beautifull on the pictures.
ReplyDelete( saying something on the clothes of the Queen would very much be a repetition of yesterday and the day before: wrong choice and combination again)
The 2nd outfit was cute, if she had not worn those shiny stockings. The hat with the first outfit was interesting, not sure I liked it or not, but it was different in that it blended with her hair, and was not 2 foot wide. She should have gone with a bag that matched the color of the hat in the 2nd outfit. The king looked good in his 2nd outfit, though in the last photo, it looks like he could shed about 20bls from the waist line (most men his age could).... JT
ReplyDeleteLove her outfit. She looks georgeous
ReplyDeleteAgree, what a beautiful background.
DeleteLovely dress her smile is the biggest asset. I like the pantsuit just not all the flowers on it.Pic's 11-13 are great, what beautiful background.
ReplyDeleteThe coral color of the dress is quite spring-like and is flattering on her. I do not care for the style or pattern of the dress. The wide leg shorter pants and the appliques on the shirt are huge no for me. I do like her headband!

The first dress is beautiful, although as many have already pointed, the accessories are a disaster, sometimes I get the feeling that Maxima would wear a tiara everywhere if they let her :-) memories of the DOC come to mind when she visits countries that are culturally and climatological very different from the West, and how tasteful her sartorial choices are. The second outfit is just not great, but once again, does she need a shiny pantyhose, a dressy clutch, a headpiece and all that stuff to go to the jungle and get on a barge?
ReplyDeleteIt just puzzles me.

DeleteCherry Blossom, you're :"she would wear a tiara if they let her," very amusing. Hehe. And for the forest visit, at least she's got pumps/slip on's, on, and yes, she could've took a more casual handbag, with a strap to carry on the shoulder
hahaha, I thought the same about the purse... who brings a clutch onto a boat? The headband, too. Though we might've complained about her hair.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the beehive hat, and I know I'm in the minority here. It's her thing, these big hats, and she likes ones that are her hair color. At least it's neat.
The dress looks lovely soft and feminine. It is great to see the Queen smiling, interested and engaging.
ReplyDeletePour une fois que la reine pouvait porter une grande capeline pour se protéger du soleil.
ReplyDeleteOn the occasion of King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherland's visit to Indonesia this time, May bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Indonesia strengthen further.
ReplyDeleteOne disaster after another: a wedding guest dress paired with gloves and high heels and a mutant hornet's nest on the head to visit a geopark and one of the most unbecoming Natan's creations with another absurd thing on the head. At least she wore sensible and quite nice flats for the boat ride.
