At the invitation of President Joko Widodo, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are making a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia from March 10 to March 13, 2020. The King and Queen began their state visit in Jakarta by laying a wreath at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery to honour the war dead, especially those who fell during the Indonesian War of Independence that took place between 1945 and 1949. |
Afterwards, an official welcome ceremony was held at the presidential palace in Bogor, where President Joko Widodo and his wife Iriana received the King and Queen. |
In the afternoon King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima laid a wreath at Menteng Pulo Cemetery, the resting place of almost 4,300 Dutch soldiers who died during the Second World War and the Indonesian War of Independence. |
The King and Queen then visited the Pipiltin Cocoa chocolate factory, which works with farmers from various regions in Indonesia. The farmers are trained in sustainable cocoa production methods and ways of improving the quality of their products. |
Oh dear...well, on the plus side the dress fits and it’s long enough, but other than that I have nothing positive to say. I dislike the wide leather belt (too heavy) and the hat, which from a distance looks like half of a sports helmet. All in all I’d say it’s not a great outfit for Q. Max. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteYes! I was trying to figure the hat out, and your description is perfect (and gave me a giggle). I just don't understand why she does thia, For someone with incredible resources.
DeleteChel
Yes the hat! Can't quite find the word/s that I need to make a comment. I'll get on with my household chores and phone in later, that is, if I find the word/s.
DeleteThe hat and hair looks like a Playmobil hair or helmet. The original version of this dress is Boho chic, but this cape version..? I love the tissue, but the belt, necklace and cape just kills it for me. The best is the little girl with the ponytails...
DeleteThe hat looks like an armadillo
DeleteSiento decirlo pero no me gusta el moño, ni el tocado, ni el vestido
ReplyDeletetampoco el cinturon, todo en conjunto la da un aspecto anticuado, la envejece.
Estoy de acuerdo contigo
DeleteI like the dress on the model, quite less the one worn by Maxima. And don't care for the hat.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting look and I like it. I love the fabric, the colors, her hair is great (very 20's looking, and perhaps a new design for her to keep using), and I like the wide belt. I do not like the high-low look AND the cape. In general, high-low is difficult and this is a beautiful enough material where I wish it was an even hemline. It would have been more sophisticated. I like that the cape covers the back of the arms as it adds a different-but-not weird look, but I do wish anything resembling a cape would be reserved for evening attire. I also think the slip/lining should come to the bottom of the dress.
ReplyDeleteVery strange hat and hairdo, Star Wars inspired? The belt and gloves are so wrong with this dress, far too heavy. Moreover, belt, hat, shoes and clutch are too matchy-matchy, pure amateurism fashion- and stylewise.
ReplyDeleteLily T.
I do prefer the dress of the model.
ReplyDeleteThe belt and handshoes of leather are to robust for the tender tissue and colour of the dress.
The hairpiece is really awfull ( sorry, donot know an other word for it)
I would have opted for accessoires in light grey instead of that hideous shade of tobacco brown.
ReplyDeleteSimply horrible
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard NO for me. The hairpiece is strange and it looks very odd, maybe if it didn’t blend with the hair, it could be more palatable. The leather accessories are too casual for the delicate fabric, which on itself look better for a cocktail dress than a morning visit. The whole ensemble is a mismatch of styles, materials and it looks eccentric.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you Cherry Blossom.
DeleteAgain too much of everything like always. Only positive things are fabrics and colour
ReplyDeleteThis is one hot mess. The outfit is more suited for an afternoon tea as a maxi dress with delicate accessories. As a style icon, Jackie-O had two looks as First Lady: During the day she wore either a 2-pc pant/skirt suit or sheathe with jacket/coat; and in the evening she wore either a cocktail dress or gown. Not even the accessories were left to chance, Maxima seems at war with herself and her idea of 'the' queenly image. As such, she seems exaggerated in every form; e.g., unkempt hair or alien do-hicky. I'd settle for a good hair style and a few simple suits or day (work) dresses.
ReplyDeleteWell, they say if you can't say something nice ... say something vague. So, ... the little girl is cute!! ;D LOL.
ReplyDeleteEuropa.
ditto - LOL
DeleteShe looks ridiculous! that hat!
ReplyDeleteShe's a pretty woman with a great personality but, she desperately needs a good stylist.
ReplyDeleteOn her own she either over does it on accessories or just doesn't understand what goes with what.
Totally agree. Her stylist is maybe a bad choice, but I think that the influence of her stylist is unfortunately minimal.
DeleteThe hat with the hairdo both are strange and terrible . I am sorry to say that but it is what I can see !
ReplyDeleteThe dress in itself don;t look bad, but this cape or something I don't know really.
ReplyDeleteOOH MY! Queen Maxima should know better than to wear this dress for a daytime event. The fabric is so sheer and revealing. Bless her heart she tries so hard, unfortunately she has more misses than hits!
ReplyDeleteI know this is Natan but I really like it. Lovely colours, nice floaty sleeves, much nicer than the version shown on the model. Add the tidy updo and the brown accessories and this is a real winner for me
ReplyDeleteWe don't often see photos with children/grandchildren on state visits. I assume the cute little gal is Jokowi's granddaughter - lovely photos with her. Máxima's outfit is okay; but the hat is terrible, looks like some strange sea creature glommed onto her head. ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteI know she thinks this is a nice outfit, however, the hat thing looks like part of a brown egg shell perched over the top of her head. Won't comment on the rest, too much going on that is wrong (imho).... JT .... The dress on the model was lovely, did not like the changes made to the dress the queen was wearing.
ReplyDeleteFabric, style and design of the dress are really nice. I don't need this cape but it does not disturb me massive.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing which ruins this outfit is the headpiece, that does nothing for her.
Unusual outfit
ReplyDeleteMaxima et Mathilde devraient essayer d'oublier un peu Natan
ReplyDeleteMathilde makes in general the right
DeleteMathilde makes in general the right choices in the Natan collection. Máxima unfortunately not and often she wants changes in the original model, mostly not for the best.
DeleteI do not agree. Maxima (almost) always makes the wrong choices out of the Natan collection. On the contrary Mathilde has some beautiful simple suits and dresses of Natan. Just have a look at his site
DeleteOtra cosa horrible con un pelo que va a tener que raparse para salvarlo. Lo tiene podrido, por favor.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress for a hot climate, and some nice 1920s vibes in the hat and hair!
