The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently making an official visit to Ireland taking place between Tuesday 3rd March and Thursday 5th March. On March 3, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a special reception at the Guinness Storehouses Gravity Bar in Dublin on the first day of their visit to Ireland. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a new emerald midi dress by The Vampire's Wife. |
If only she had shorter hair.
ReplyDeleteAVA
No, her hair is lovely, she is lucky to have thick long luxurious hair most women's hair starts to thin out at her age.
Deletej.
Why??
DeleteCatherine has nice hair and lots of it but she doesn't have good hairdo .Shorter and more straight would make her not only more fashionable but also look younger.
DeleteAVA
Duchess Kate's hair is beautiful. I went to the hairdresses' years ago;hairdresser said long hair isn't in fashion, to be honest it never goes out of style. Her emerald dress is striking.
DeleteWhat an asset Catherine is to the Royal Family. She looks fabulous and I especially like her hair and her gorgeous smile. The photos from earlier in the day with her linked arm in arm with Sabina Higgins are so precious.
ReplyDeleteOh dear...more green. I do give Catherine credit because Ireland or not, she does usually look good in green, but I'm not enamoured by this dress. The style/design is OK but the fabric looks like green crinkle foil. It also looks too 'costumey', like something from 'Wicked'. So it's a no for me.

Well she wears the same designer as Pss Beatrice. This is a nice dress, but a bit to shiny.Dss Kate looks lovely wearing it. Prince William is not bad to look at either.
ReplyDeletebaby #4 on the way
ReplyDeleteI thought the same Mildred. Radiant smiles and green is her color.
DeleteGlo
Never mind she had some guinness:). I usually don’t speculate but she looked so radiant- must be the color.
DeleteGlo
I thought the same thing! She always cuts her hair shorter before an announcement too...
DeleteI don't think so. She is holding a glass of beer in the last pic.
DeleteYou must be right...the pint of Guinness she is holding certainly confirms it. Get a life...
DeleteI suggest you look also carefully to pictures of last week where she was wearing trousers. In addition she was also running last week, etc...
DeleteThis dress is all about shimmer and shine. It fits her beautifully and has a great glow under the lights.
ReplyDeleteI like it for the most part. It's bold, sparkly (okay), but I wish the giant ruffle that was popular in the 1970's and which came back more recently would go away. I am not a fan. Also, this is one of those occasions where I think the length doesn't work as well on her. The sleeves I like.
ReplyDeleteI also do not feel her hair is overly long, at all. She looks lovely. It's well kept and styled.
Her hair is gorgeous, but it will look better blown out. The curly look is very old fashioned.
DeleteI do admit that I like ruffles. They are so feminine! I like the dress, Catherine looks like a beautiful mermaid!
DeleteLike this sparkly dress but like dellbabe68 I am not impressed by the reappearance of the 70s frill. I think the real beauty of the dress is evident in the close up pic where she is holding her glass of Guinness. Two good outfits to start this tour but the earlier dress is definitely my favourite today.
ReplyDeleteThe color, fabric, and fit of this dress is perfect. If only the bottom ruffle was not there...but she does look great. I appreciate the green to honor the country she is visiting.
ReplyDeleteShelley
Yes, I also appreciate her polite nod to the green! She does look quite nice in this dress.
DeleteShannon
Omg, this endless row of green clothes while visiting in Ireland. And this particulsr piece is even ugly. The shiny fabrik looks cheap and plastic and the ruffles makes it look frumpy. And those earrings are totally wrong choice with this outfit. - Siri
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Catherine and William, both GEMS!
ReplyDeleteYES
DeleteBeautiful Catherine and William, both GEMS!
ReplyDeleteThe dress was beautiful, till I saw that odd ruffle thing on the hemline.
ReplyDeleteWould have looked 100% more modern with a trumpet style hemline.
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess looks lovely and she is indeed a great asset to the Royal family. This dress and the earrings are a rare miss for me. I love her hair this length, it looks great.
ReplyDeleteI almost like this. But not quite. I think, again, it´s too fussy, too many design features. This dress is has: metallic shine (almost to a degree of a wet look), rich texture, eye-catching darts, pointy shoulders, sheer sleeves, ruffles on sleeves, same ruffle echoed at the hem, uneven hem (not intentional, but distracting), and an unusual length, all on top of a statement colour.
ReplyDeleteTake away the ruffles from sleeves and hem (thus shortening the dress to proper cocktail length), and we´d be talking.
Earrings and clutch are gorgeous in any case.
I already thought that the persistence with which official visitors wear green in Ireland is starting to come across as stereotypical rather than diplomatic dressing. It´s so predictable by now. Also, if she really feels she needs to wear exclusively green, then I don´t get William´s blue suit, which not only clashes with her bottle green dress but also looks like he doesn´t care at all. He would have looked awesome with a black suit and a green tie instead (much like the guy standing to Kate´s right in the group photo, although his tie is a bit too neon).
Bien belle la première photo.. Très joli vert lumineux mais ce large volant me semble de trop ; superbes les escarpins. De nouvelles et superbes boucles d’oreilles ?!
ReplyDeleteHer hair is gorgeous, but will look better blown out. The curly look is so old fashioned and ageing.
ReplyDeleteThe dress probably cost a pretty penny, but it looks cheap in all it's metallic shininess. Don't like the ruffles either. The hair and earrings are pretty though.
ReplyDeletethey both look old in their 50s, that dress is too old for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAging, always this "aging". There are so many other attributes for disliking a dress! Just give it a try to be more specific in describing something you don't like, instead of associating dislike with age.
ReplyDeleteOntopic: I like the dress, it is a bit funky and fun. Anybody noticed the Madonna-like build of the breast part? Come too close and it could pierce you. And I like the shorter hair, whatever the styling, it does not dominate that much as when wearing it very long. (Ann.)
I so much agree on being upset by this permanent reference to "aging" "looking old" etc. when speaking about a dress. All these dresses are worn by young models.
DeleteThe Duchess looks stunning. The champagne bottle green color of the dress is outstanding!

ReplyDeleteI get a kick out of all the reviewers who say she is dressed too old. What would they prefer? A revealing slit up to her hip? Showing her cleavage? A mini dress? Kate has figured out you don’t have to show all your “assets” to be beautiful. Many times a covered, modest look can be more sexy because it makes you wonder what is behind the dress. She’s a style icon for a reason. Besides, the world doesn’t need another Kim Kardashian.
ReplyDeleteRight on !!
DeleteThere is a lot between Kate-style and Kardashian-style. Check e.g. Letizia, she is never showing too much but she never looks matronly either. Style is all about the small choices. -Siri
DeleteAgree!!
DeleteI don´t necessarily think that THIS dress is too old for her, but like many other readers I think that many of her dresses are. Often, she dresses older than her age, which, of course is due to her conservative approach to styling. I get it, and I approve, but I wish she´d go for conservative (as in classic, timeless) rather than matronly.
DeleteThe current trends featuring bow blouses, midi lengths, floral all-over prints and floaty fabrics don´t help as those things are generally associated with granny dresses. She could steer clear of those trends and opt for simpler, timeless designs and still look both decent and dignified. And her own age.
No one suggested that she needs to show more skin or more "assets". And honestly, I find it sad that you associate a young fashion with revealing slits, cleavage, mini dresses and sexy looks.
But pussy bows, midi lengths and all over floral ARE MODERN FASHION. Women my age love this because it doesn’t scream granny to us. That’s probably because we never lived through the fashions the first time they appeared. I don’t think she looks old. Everything she is wearing is very on trend.
DeleteYeah, no. This is definitely not a good look for her. The dress looks like it came straight from the 80’s and the shiny material looks cheap. It might have worked better if the bottom was fitted and they lost that hideous ruffle. Love her radiant smile, her new haircut and that she wore H&M earrings though!
ReplyDeleteAgree! I‘ve never seen anything successful from this designer.
DeleteThis dress it's a joke. Designer or not I wouldn't wear that for money.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! It’s really awful. No money would have me wear it either. Cheap disco-ball era. CH
DeleteThe dress hemline looks very odd. It should have been a trumpet hemline, much more flowing/streamlined and modern
ReplyDeleteOtra vez verde. Lo siento no me gusta.
ReplyDeleteEs un tejido que parece barato.
Love the dress. She makes everything she wears look gorgeous!
