On February 25, 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a special performance of ‘Dear Evan Hansen‘ at the Noël Coward Theatre in London. The show is being held in aid of The Royal Foundation. The Duke and Duchess watched the show and met members of the cast. ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ tells the timely and timeless story of Evan, a boy who is struggling to connect in our hyperconnected world. (The Duchess wore a new tweed dress by Eponine London.) |
The award-winning musical spans generations and has been credited with helping to start important conversations about mental health between parents and teenagers. Shout 85258 is a free and confidential text messaging helpline supporting people in crisis and was developed by Royal Foundation. The helpline is one of four not-for-profit partners of the show which provide mental health resources to audiences and beyond. |
I usually love Kate's style, but this style I really don't like.
ReplyDeleteThis dress does nothing for her.
I can't really say that I like this look on the Duchess. The dress is a little too sombre and the shoes somehow seem out of place to me. Her hair seems to be too long and too loose and reminds me a little of a loin's mane. Kate is beautiful no matter what, but today isn't one of her best evening looks for me.
ReplyDeleteDear Evan Hansen is one of my favourite shows. I've seen it twice and had a friend playing the lead role of Evan in a professional production. It deals with very contemporary issues that young people are facing all around us, every day. Glad to see The Royal Foundation using this show to help those that need this kind of support.

I completely agree with you. The dress is too boring and the shoes don't go with it. The shoes look so painful. She needs to cut a few inches off her hair that would bring out her pretty face.
DeleteI definitely agree with you on this. She has been rocking it out of the park lately and this is a step backwards. Not that it is horrible, but not great either. I do like the sparkly Jimmy Choos, just not with this. And I did like her hair a little shorter also.
DeleteChel
She has lovely , thick hair. I cannot see why the endless calls for her to cut it.
DeleteIndeed.
DeleteI like this look on her. Her body looks a bit fuller in this style dress (more flattering, in my humble opinion) and I like that it's longer too. Her usual slim fit dresses make her look far too slim. OK, I'm ready for the onslaught from those who will accuse me of body shaming! Love to all!
ReplyDeleteWow;Kate looks fantastic,I love the shoes and clutch bag. Her hair looks so shiny;I love the length. Contemporary issues that young people are facing, society is evolving too fast and people can not reign things in;and say no to drugs, bullying, facebook bullying;stand up and say NO;YOU DO NOT DEFINE ME!
ReplyDeleteNot my favourite. Quite an odd choice, both for the occasion and also for her type of body. Chrissy
ReplyDeleteEven if I'm the only one, I just love her look tonight. Loved that dress! and the earrings are amazing, a loan from the Queen I think!
ReplyDeleteI agree Lily, don't feel lonely. I agree as a break in her usual style and the dress fits her nicely. Accessories well adapted.

DeleteYou are not the only ones… I think this look is very nice :)
You're not the only one. A great, classic dress, with stand out shoes and clutch. She has this classic elegance I love!
DeleteI think it is the colour of the shoes and clutch that doesn't sit right with me. The Duchess looks lovely but this is a rare miss for me. I agree about her hair it is a bit too long and not as becoming. The dress, I am still on the fence, something about it I just don't like, not quite sure yet.
ReplyDeleteThe tweed is plenty textured, combined with the glitter pumps, it's too much.
ReplyDeleteI like the silhouette and material of the dress but it is better suited for a day occasion.
Unfortunately, the dress looks old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteI actually like this dress and I think the Duchess of Cambridge looks good in it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the shoes are out of place, I solid colour shoe would have looked wonderful.

Indeed, if you take a look at the model, she's looking much better in those dark sneakers.
DeleteThe dress itself is fantastic, but it cries for simple accessoires.
Further more: dark tights and hair tied to a knot.
Katrin
I actually think the outfit works. Her sparkling shoes gives a boring dress some sparkles ( no pun intended).
ReplyDeleteJoli modèle mais la teinte est un peu triste ; une couleur unie -comme du rouge- irait à merveille à Kate surtout que ses escarpins sont pailletées.. Qu'a-t-elle fait à ses cheveux ?!
ReplyDeleteThe volume and texture of this dress are good for her, in my opinion. But dark grey is dark grey and dark grey from head to (almost) toe without anything else is just too much. The shoes are too far away to set a much desired accent. Loose hairstyle not really nice this time and an updo (or half-up) would be better for the evening - and also for such a dark dress I think. (Ann.)
ReplyDeleteI like her outfit as her clutch and shoes are a fitting accent to her dress. Wish she'd worn her hair in an updo, though.
ReplyDeleteLove love the shoes!!!! Rest of the outfit.. OK.
ReplyDeleteOnly dislike - hair
I think the dress is actually quite good choice for Kate's body type, but the accessories and the hair spoils the outlook.- Siri
ReplyDeletePerfection . She looks just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like it all - I think the sparkle of clutch and shoes lift it. Minor quibble - think her hair might have been better in a half updo.
ReplyDeleteFor me,no matter what she wears, always suit the Duchess Catherine
ReplyDeleteI think this dress is superb, and has a classic elegance, and a little retro vibe, with the over size buttons and the pleated skirt, it’s way more flattering for her figure than the fitted and sometimes a bit too tight outfits that she favors. The shoes are just the cherry on the cake, simply fantastic. I agree that her hair is healthy and pretty, but I also think that a little texturizing would improve the look.

It is an odd combination of styles. A day dress (tweed fabric), with more formal (party) style bag and shoes. Her hair is lovely, the earrings, too much for the dress. Makeup is spot on. It is just an odd combination. Though Catherine usually never gets something wrong, this is just not right somehow.... JT
ReplyDeleteNice outfit. Somewhat understated.
ReplyDeleteBezaubernde Catherine, sie macht einfach alles richtig !!
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit but not for this event--it looks alike a working outfit to me in spite of the glittery effect of the material and the shiny buttons. The shoes are just fantastic and the earrings are gorgeous but I'm not sure that they are sufficient to move the outfit from daywear to evening wear.
