I think the family photos are lovely. But I do not care for the Pepto-Bismol pink color of the Queen's gown. The fit of the bodice is perfect, and the flair of the skirt is pretty, in a retro way. Finally, I think the tiara looks out of proportion when compared to Letizia's face and tight hairstyle.
These "royal" things are not very flattering It was a theme about coming across as pompous and ostentatious. Moreover most royals did not use to be very pretty, ugly instead.
Look at the young princesses in Spain where they have great clothes for young people specially.. they could not be dressed more boring..super boring ..
Unknow 4:18....what kind of clothes for young people who are princesses and have a dress code?? They are dressed as most upper class tenageers in Spain at important events. The conservative ones in Spain who are the Monarchist like this.
They are pictures for posterity, not to show the edgiest fashion in 2020 in the future. The last time they showed photos was in 2011, they do not like to pose.
Unknown 4:18....they are Royals, have you ever seen Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina? Felipe's sisters? In Spain people always have said that the King's daughters must show austerity.
What great picture of the Pss of Asturias and the Infanta Sofia, also the family pic is very lovely. This are two beautiful European Royal Pss. The King and Queen with full Regalia stunning.
Absolutely beautiful. Beyond their beauty, the princesses look regal as well as exquisite. I met the King when he was a student in the US. He was the most gracious man ever.
These are beautiful photos of the Royal family. Particularly the individual photos of the princesses in b/white, sublime. I love what the Queen is wearing, the red and blue dress, superb looks.
Of course lovely pictures, but cannot wait to see these girls less fairytale and more mature than here. Their pictures are allways innocent and lack spirit.
Clearly a beautiful family. Regarding the pink gown: the colour really is unfortunate because it cheapens the look immensely. Also, I am certain that it was a strapless design originally and the sheer neckline/sleeves added. I would like to see it reversed and am fairly sure it would look better. The blue and red dresses are beautiful and a perfect testimony that a simple yet well-constructed design rules surpreme and is really all you need.
Yes of course lovely pictures, but also a bit boring. Why not ask a famous Spanish photographer to do something new. This crown is of course fantastic, but I always think its a bit high and big on that tiny head of Laetitia
A Crown ia a Crown, not a fashion thing, it is the best the Spanish State owns. It was made to come across it is bigger than you, the State is bigger than "you". A famous Spanish photographer? To what exactly, they are State photos, not for New York's fashion week. I think that people do not know what "royal" and "Monarchy" or "Head of State" means.
These are portrait style pictures that would have been painted and probably will, for posterity. This is not the time to try something new. See the pictures released by other houses recently. The crown is a relic. She has to wear it as is. Ana
i agree with you Anonymous 2.14.....ok that these pictures will enter history but the instituion of Monarchy must also learn how to renew itself. Less institutional pictures would be even more appreciated.
Anon 9:25..not really! The ones who support the Monarchy in Spain are the conservatives, and like the institutional thing if not it could be replaced by a Prwsident, and the republican moviments are around
Anon 2:29..the political situation for them in Spain is not to be relaxed and having fun, they would be very criticized. That is in other countries, here the people do not allow them that.
Anon 2:29..relaxed and having fun with our money?? Not really! We need a hardworking monarchy, not people strolling around and "having fun" in front of us.
I think the ‘day’ outfits are perfect on all of them. The evening look on Q. Letitia is less successful. The colour of the dress appears very harsh in the photos, and I agree that the tiara looks enormous on her. I think a dress with more shoulder detail would balance out the size of the tiara. (V.M.)
Unknown..wearing make up? All the media is saying that is very good thay they are not wearing it. You should have your eyes checked. Bullying children is not the best for an adult.I would like to see yours.
True, I don't love the pink, at least this shade for a gown but I think the appliques near the tiara (a big haul for anyone much less someone so petit) makes it work, thank God.
What I love is her perfect posture. It makes anything she wears better, not that what she wears isn't great to begin with. In the last photo you can almost imagine her in a mantilla.
The King makes a completely imperial outfit sand moment somehow more personal with his warm look into the camera. He certainly is easy on the eyes!
I do vote for the young ladies to start wearing even a low heel. It's time. They are truly lovely and have been raised to have poise.
I think these are the best Royal pictures that I have seen in a while. Of course they could have gone for an edgy angle like the house of Orange did a couple of Christmas ago, that got mixed reviews, but I think this is not the occasion to go that route. The family pictures represent a young, modern family, classy but not ostentatious, the pictures of the King and Queen are regal enough to satisfy the most pure monarchists. The tiara is magnificent, it doesn't matter whether it looks big on her small frame, it looks just as it should. I find the pink dress completely superb, the bodice fits to perfection, with the rich embroidery and very clever shoulder coverage, and the skirt has body and presence, and balances the substantial "crown" , I also think that the color choice is genius, when these images are seen many years from now, they will still be vibrant and sophisticated. All in all, they all look terrific!!
Agree with you, and based on the outfits and the pictures from previous years, family picture should have been the Christmas card. That millisecond taken from tv footage with different expression was weird. Ana
Anon 2:39...in Spain Christmas Cards are not a tradition as you can see it is in English. You should learn a bit about other countries and traditions and not take it for granted all have the same.
Strangely enough ecards are released in each year in December with some of it written in English!. Either their majesties are confused, or they know that their influence goes far beyond Spanish borders. That was a mere translation. Grow up!! Ana.
Anon@ 7:06 PM, and you should learn to read, nobody is talking about customs or traditions. Furthermore, people DO send Christmas cards in Spain. Are you just reading every comment, hoping to get offended? Jeez!! MM
Sorry MM, to who exactly, here families live very near each other or/and get together at Navidad. I can't see the necessity to send a Card. Also younger people do not use "correos" (mail) only for package.
And yet the Spanish royal family send Christmas cards. I don't see anything in the comment that suggests being unaware of tradition, merely a suggestion that the poster thinks these pictures would have been nicer than what was sent out.
Are you yet another hyper aggressive Spanish poster who just pops up to find offence in every single comment made about the Spanish royals? 🙄
Yep, G, you are so right, there are a couple of people that get extremely belligerent when someone gives an opinion. They seem unable to understand debate and civil exchanche, and are just waiting to be offended, and jump to teach whoever dares to have one. I have lived and worked in Spain for a few years, and I can attest that people do exchange Christmas cards, not as much as Americans, but they do!!
Sorry Cherry, and do not want to argue. I am a Spaniard and I have lived in many place of Spain and nobody sends Christmast Cards. I have never recieved one and I have never sent one. Letizia and Felipe do that probably because other countries do as Saint Valentine, Halloween Santa Claus (nothing of that is our tradition) and in Spanish we call them "tarjetas de Navidad". But TV is telling us what America do with the films, series, etc.. Probably because of that Letizia does not do a great effort at Christmas (Navidad).
Google is very reliable. The point is both the old and young royal couple issue a specific greeting for the season signed by all of them. This family photo is much nicer than what was posted. The infantas also did too, before things became complicated. We are not speaking of all of Spain with its many traditions etc. Just the kings...B.
Anon 10:15...the kings of Spain and here not many people is interested in it, and as I said probably because of that they do not do a great effort at that time. However they have done it for these ones which are important for the country. That's the point in my opinion.
The Kings meet many people in their travels around the world. It is sign of respect to salute other cultures. No one said anything about physical cards sent by mail. This beautiful picture in the October 12 outfits shows that Letizia did make an effort to get a polished picture of her family to show at home and abroad, especially now that the girls meet children from other countries when they travel to the US for instance. MB
MB....I think I missed something, people is saying that the Chrismats Cards released in December are not very good and These ones are better but not Cards if not State photos and it should be the contrary. Then you wonder why people is angry in the end...
PS: YOU are correct Cherry Blossom. Elena....lol.... Susana
Wow! All this commotion because the pictures look nice and would have made a better Christmas card!! The Christmas cards that the monarchs do not make, but are on Google, some even showing Juan Carlos, Sofia, and their children!! ...Being an 82 year old psychologist retired..leaves a lot of time for research ...or not. Ana.
I do not understand that a Spanish person says that Christmas cards are not a tradition in Spain ... Perhaps that person is very young and young people do not do it anymore because they send everything online ... but of course it is a centuries-old tradition to send Christmas cards and my whole family does it. I am Spanish and middle-aged. On the other hand I would like the royal family cards to have more Christmas meaning or at least the images chosen were unknown. It is my only "but" to my monarchy. For the rest, everything is perfect including official photos. We see them in many outings in the street during the year and much in the holidays. We need more official photos.
Lovely family, so beautiful
ReplyDeleteDe bien belles photos de toute la famille et surtout la photo en noir et blanc qui est magnifique ; Leonor et Sofia sont de plus en plus jolies !
