Duchess of Cambridge attended SportsAid event at London Stadium

On February 26, 2020, The Duchess of Cambridge visited the London Stadium at the Olympic Park in Stratford to join a SportsAid event dedicated to celebrating the role that parents and guardians play in their child’s sporting success. SportsAid helps young British sportsmen and women aspiring to be the country’s next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and World Champions. 1. Great, casual look on the Duchess. Perfect for her sporty outing, good coordinating sneakers. Nice, polished ponytail. Her makeup is so nice and light, she looks beautiful.

  2. Great. I think this is better than the skinny trousers she sometimes chooses for the sporty events. She looks smart but comfortable - and she is clearly enjoying herself.

And she is the Duchess of Cambridge or Catherine but not Duchess Catherine - there is no such thing.

"...not hard working person" ??? You must be kidding. Or you don't have any idea what it means to be a major royal and representing the Queen. The DoC is working very hard, look up her calendar on the internet and inform yourself before you spout off such nonsense. Yes on the pictures above we see her doing sports - but she is not there just for fun, she is actually 'working'. She is there because she is supporting the charity organization SportsAid as patron. And believe it or not - this is work!!

Why we see so many pictures of her lately? Think about it - we see her a lot out and about, because she is working so much :-)) This blog is covering the engagements of royals from the fashion point of view. If you are tired to read about it, you don't have to.

What is her occupation? She became a Duchess at age 29 not 21 so she must have big job experience.

    1. @Anna, maybe it is just not your taste, but I think the outfit is coordinated very well. A monochromatic look, best when two or more different shades of one colour are combined is at the top of the fashion trends for 2019/2020. Have a look here https://tvtrex.com/2019/09/10/monochromatic-fashion-trends-fall-winter-2019-2020-outfit/

Catherine got everything right with this outfit. From the pine-green colour in two matching shades to the wide legged cropped trousers to the sneakers. Of course, people can say 'I don't like it', but from fashion point of view, it is spot on! Only thing, the navy blue blazer is not a good choice, it suddenly turns a modern look into something boring. I would have stayed to the monochrome theme and would have gone yet for another shade of green - and would probably have been critisized on this blog for it :-))

Here are some wonderful shades of green to choose from

This is not a comment meant personally for you, but sometimes I wonder how come that readers of a fashion blog are not interested in fashion at all and don't inform themselves on actual trends and styles.

Liz, you are body shaming. There is never a time that body shaming is acceptable. Mind your own business.

    7. Could we perhaps ban the woke phrase "body shaming" from this site. I am so tired of seeing it every time someone expresses a comment about the physical appearance of the people we all enjoy looking at. It's a fashion blog and the physical build of the person wearing the clothes affects the overall look--whether that is their height, their weight, their age.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous28/2/20 04:47

AnnieM, you are correct. A person's body absolutely does effect how their clothing looks. What does that have to do with the constant comments about Kate looking too thin to some people? If someone is not dressing well for her body type, that is an acceptable comment. Any comments about her 'body' are in fact body shaming, whether you like it or not. It is just as bad as saying someone is too fat. What needs to be banned are direct comments that are critical of anyone's body, not the term "body shaming". Would you be alright with people pointing out how much weight a person should lose, or just bluntly saying they are fat? How would you feel if you were constantly told what was 'wrong' with your body, especially by strangers? Some people are genetically thin, some people are genetically heavier, and some people are overweight due to bad eating habits and poor exercise. In no case does it give anyone a reason to publically state their opinions, especially when based on nothing factual.

Quite like Letizia a couple of days before in a rather comfortable outfit which looks fabulous. The big difference to Queen Letizia are the shoes. Letizia wore those killer heels, which I wouldn't call state of liberation nowadays.
The sneakers look fantastic, Kate might wear them to other official ocasions and set a sign for woman.

Love the green and navy. Very smart looking. She looks happy, healthy, confident, and gorgeous. You can call her waity if you want to. Not hurting her feelings at all. She did things the best way for her and she and William certainly look happy. They have a stunning family. And from the way things look, they are fabulous parents. Good for them.

  12. I love this outfit. What a great choice for the event. And this is how cropped trousers are meant to be worn - casually, with flat shoes.
I don´t think the black jacket goes well with the sneakers but I understand the need for some sort of extra layer to put on.

  13. Anonymous26/2/20 20:37

Ironic. Her too-tight (imo) skinny jeggings would have actually been a better choice for this event/engagement.

Even though I think this particular pair are the best fit for her, I am glad to see her in some trousers/regular pants. These might look better with a heel - like on the model. Great color on her too.

  14. I find it amusing to be scrutinizing an outfit a woman wore to run at a gym and listen to some tips on boxing. I think the heels suggestion is a good one if she's going to wear the pants elsewhere. But she looks great, healthy, engaged in the "engagement," and interacting positively with everyone around. I'm less amused by the non-sartorial comments about the "waity" business, which are always used as a put-down. They echo the worse of the abusive press. She did have a lengthy relationship with William before getting married, and it is not as if she spent the time knitting at home while he caroused around and sowed his oats. For most of that long courtship period they lived together at university and before their marriage. It is what modern couples do, and it has paid off in the strength and stability of her marriage, a stability that is now crucial to the endurance of the monarchy. The monarchy--whether we want to admit it or not--is a very traditional institution whose strength is that of embodying a traditional sense of family and nation. The long courtship may seem overly traditional, but it is what was needed here. I look at her and the patience and commitment (and self-denial) that is expected of her and admire her from my own rebellious-youth, mold-shattering feminist approach to my own life and career. I couldn't have done it, but kudos to her for looking so fresh and engaged (and prettily and appropriately dresses) doing it for all of us to find a (strange) comfort in watching it.

I agree with you...the "waity" comment was bizzare. Why make such an irrelevant comment that goes so far back in time, and as you correctly said, can be credited to the abusive press. There always seem to be a few people to bring the comments down to gutter level.

    2. @ Lisa Paris, thank you for your thoughtful and so beautifully and eloquently worded contribution. Most people may not understand what it means to marry the heir of the English Crown. One of the most demanding 'jobs' in this field, representing a country and a monarchy - maybe one could only compare it to the requirements of the role of the Japanese Emperor and -although not 'royal' - the American president.

Catherine has done a remarkable job in preparing herself for this role. Most women would have backed off, realizing what this step means for their personal life. It means literally giving up any personal choices for your life. She has dedicated herself fully into this role and she has never put one foot wrong. If she did, the press would have torn her into pieces. They tried in the beginning and as we can see in some comments the false stories they made up to vilify Catherine have found their way into the heads of some brainwashed people to the day.

These are very nice trousers but they don't look good with this tight top. Kate has very boyish body and this outfit underline the fact. With some loose top (like the one on the model) they could be fine.

Boyish? I think this tighter top underlines the fact that she doesn't have a boyish figure - no boys around where I live need a bra.

    2. It is a sport event, where you wear fitted clothes. The green top is not too tight, it is just right. A frilly peplum style blouse as the model wears would have looked ridiculous in that context. And what is this nonsense about looking 'boyish'? Her whole look, especially the modern pants, her hair, make-up, earrings, everything is charming and feminine and even more so her engaging smile. All I can see is a beautiful, slender, fit woman taking part in a sports event.

Unlike others here I don't find this outfit very flattering on Kate. Nice to see her in something other then these skinny jeans that are not good on her. Maybe this would have worked in my eyes with a looser top, maybe a fluffy sweater. We see on the Zara model how much better the big shirt look to these pants especially when We(excuse me for saying this)Kates skinny body in consideration.

  20. Love everything about this outfit, color, style and specially the sneakers, pity she can’t wear those on other occasions. Personally I think she looks healthy and youthful. I also like that fact that you can wear low cost clothing and look fabulous. My only quibble is the jacket, not the color, but the tailoring is more dressy than the rest of the outfit.
