On January 7, 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Canada House and there, they met with High Commissioner, Janice Charette and staff to thank them for their “warm Canadian Hospitality and support” during their family trip to Canada. Afterwards, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the Canada Gallery to view a special exhibition by an Indigenous Canadian artist Skawennati, and met with different members of the CanadianUK High Commission team who work in a range of sectors supporting the partnership between Canada and the UK. (The Duchess wore a new camel double-breasted wool coat by Stella Mccartney.) |
Nice out fit and smile, but her hair is a bit messy.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100% her hair is just terrible
DeleteMeghan's hair is and looks horrible; and she's always touching it. If the other royal ladies went out with hair like that, they would be criticized. Yes, Kate plays with her hair; but at least it's nicely styled and looks clean. ~Rose~
DeleteTo my eyes, it isn't messy or terrible at all.
DeleteIt would have been a good time to come back without the hair extensions.
DeleteI donot understand this gestuurde: do you think The Danish royals went To the Swiss president to Thank HIM for his hospitality?
ReplyDeleteWardrobe: ok, nothing special.
Canada is a Commonwealth member, the DoS and the Prince are the vice president and president of the Commonwealth Trust, respectively. I don't think Denmark and Switzerland have a similar relationship.
DeleteWell, they were there for a really long time, mainly in private, over an a big international holiday period, and no doubt Canada had to provide extra security, etc. So perhaps rather than just saying "Thank you, and good-bye," they decided to make one big final public appearance that would also bring attention/needed publicity(?) to Canada House.
DeleteEuropa
Meghan will do anything for the publicicty. She was like that as an actress and continues to do so.
DeleteMonica
And, 11:50pm, it would bring attention to themselves. That is the main reason, to make their comeback. Could they go to Canada House quietly? No, they couldn't.
DeleteThat's literally the whole modus operandi of the British Royal Family...to use their positions/popularity to highlight important causes. In this case the Sussexes were highlighting the work of indigenous Canadian artists.
DeleteAccording to Vanity Fair and Town and Country prior to the Canada House visit the Duchess also made a more private visit to the Grenfell Community Kitchen, which was not pictured in this picture set.
Additionally, Canada house is literally a working diplomatic office located a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square, which is hardly an indiscrete location. There is already security presence there given it's governmental purposes. What are the Sussexes supposed to do? Erect covered walkways and shut down Canada House for the day?
It seems like people like to nitpick and ascribe the worst to this poor couple.
Joann
DeleteI don't think there was anything wrong with them going there. They have established a relationship with Canadians. After all it is a Commonwealth country and sort of a second home for Meghan. Anything they can do to bring positive publicity for Canada is probably something the Queen approves.
@ Anna. This is a very good documented answer to a narrow minded comment! She and Harry simply can't do any good in the eyes of certain people, Always anonymous always negative.

DeleteWell someone’s got their nickers in a twist. It’s just as someone else posted, no matter what they do, or how or why they do it, it’s ALWAYS going to be negative in certain people’s eyes.
And I posted my name with my comment btw, Europa. So no need to address me as Anonymous … unlike yourself.

I also have a completely similar brown satin skirt for about ten years. It seems I overtook Mrs. Meghan Sussex or maybe Massimo Dutti, haha. I wear it with a satin brown top with white dots, and a bow at the neckline.
ReplyDeleteI don't like her artificially extended hair. It's a mess. I just don't like everything artificial and denying nature.
How on earth can you know for sure that it is "artificially extended"?? It certainly is not a mess.
DeleteIt is very obvious that she is wearing hair extensions. It is clear at first glance.
DeleteOMG such hate. Meghan doesn't have extensions. She don't need them. She straightens her afro american hair.
DeleteLeider wieder einmal daneben gegangen , dieser Besuch ist eigentlich nicht üblich !!
ReplyDeleteMeghan is looking great. Simple outfit, colours very good on her. Beautiful shoes. Maybe less extensions and shorter, because sometimes her hair seems so unnatural. By the way sometimes the same with Kate
ReplyDeleteKate has a natural thick hair with no extensions .
DeleteAgree about "the way with Kate" especially the other day when she sent to church with Prince William and Queen Elisabeth. The extensions have been so obvious. Aar
DeleteAnd how well aquatinted are you with their respective hair specifically? To offer such an authoritative opinion? Based on what? Other than unfair (and possibly mal intended) personal perspective?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteJustifiably, African-American/Black hair is a sensitive topic. Black hair is already unduly scrutinized as it is. I would appreciate it if you could consider how hurtful your accusation that the DoS of wearing a wig is.
DeleteGet a life, Troll.
DeleteAnd how do you know it’s a wig? Your feminine intuition?
DeleteWIG!!!??
DeleteThere is nothing wrong wearing a wig. They are in vogue, they are considered protective styling
DeleteI don't know if you saw the original comment but it didn't come with good intentions.
DeleteJoann
DeleteI read somewhere that Kate also wears extensions. Don't know if it's true. I wear wigs from time to time because I have lost some hair over the years. But they are simple, just plop them on and rearrange it a little. I couldn't be bothered with extensions. They look like they would be a chore getting them on and off. But if people want to wear them fine. I just wish Meghan would trim off the edges, so they don't look stringy. But, as I said, that's probably the fashion and I have to get over it. (Like most fashions, it will probably pass and extensions will be out and it's back to the short bob.)
Be happy!

Total mismatch for daytime outfit - casual sweater, satin skirt and velvet shoes. Colors are great but a no from me. These picks don’t show the pit stains she sported either which was just a big no.
ReplyDeleteAlso do not get the visit if it was a private trip- as mismatched as her outfit.
Agree.
DeleteHer extended hair extensions look not nice at all.
DeleteWhat tough words! I think I will really start supporting her just on the grounds of principles. To me she is nice, her outfit is nice, EVEN IF NOT in line with traditional standards. Let's try to be citizen of the 21st century, unusual fashion can also be nice. Regarding to her hair style, well she probably wants to feel free from constraints about hair. I wonder whether she feels that she has not fully recovered from the pregnancy effects on her hair.
DeleteWell MaryT that’s why we can all share our views. To me casual sweater, satin skirt, no hose, & velvet heels at a daytime event seems a mismatch. Throw in the armpit stains and messy hair and it looks unkempt. These traits are observed all the time on here. Try looking up comments about Queen Maxima’s hair. If this makes you love the Sussexes more - great - but your unnecessary scolding does not deter me. Especially if you think these comments are fine for Maxima but not Meghan- that is unfair.
Delete@MaryT
DeleteThank you for your well balanced statement. I can´t agree more.
Aar
Bravo Mary T. BRAVO! Unlike so many, you are in fact a decent person. Respectful of another human being. Hat off.
DeleteLavinia
And does the Daily Mail provide you with the photos and mean source of inspiration?
DeleteAgree with you, MaryT.
DeleteAgree Anon re: the mismatch.
DeleteGlo
The little mismatch is exactly what makes her outfit chic and individual.
DeleteShe is no Barbie-Royal from a poster hanging in the dining room of a seniors home. Her style gives her quite an intellectual touch.
Katrin
MaryT you did not have a problem or seem to think it too tough to joke and criticize Maxima’s hair and dress in Nov. or Dec. - your New Year’s resolution maybe? If people (just like you) are still criticizing Maxima about hair, etc after all these years then this extreme reaction after only 2 years (after being in the tv/movie industry where people are even more evaluated by looks/dress/etc. for your paycheck) about every comment - maybe rather than complaining about everyone else it’s just not a good match- person to lifestyle or fans to royal.
DeleteAgree with Katrin, well said. Mars
Delete@ Anon 09/01/2020 12:28. Contrary to what you suggest, I stick to moderate words about Maxima's hairstyle, rather than criticism and don't need NY resolutions about it. No words such as "messy" or...
DeleteE.g. : MaryTOctober 1, 2019 at 9:26 PM
The coat is ok for me, shoes etc as well...
I think she is convinced this super casual hair style is ok for her. Above all I think she likes to be able to switch from one style to another, and Dutch citizens like that."
Joann - I agree. I don't understand her at all. She is quite pretty and
ReplyDeletegracious. She interacts well with people and seems to enjoy being there. But why does she wear her hair that way? It's not styled, it looks just messy and stringy. Maybe I'm just behind the times. That apparently is the fashion. So I may as well get over it. If I had a daughter, that's probably how she would look.
She would be complete if her hair looked more groomed.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, if those ratty extensions would just so, she would look so much better. She certainly doesn't need that reality show hair to look good. She does great with elevated basics, IMO.
DeleteChel
Beautiful colours. Very nice outfit, I like especially these shoes. - Siri
ReplyDeleteThis skirt combined with the length if this coat, no no no. But otherwise they look rested and truly happy.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Skirt looks odd hanging below a coat of that length.
DeleteMs Helen Electra has carefully chosen the photos for us :-). I saw quite a few more elsewhere. White or very light coloured bra under a dark and thin pullover - it shines through. And she was visibly sweating in the armpits. Very human, but these are malfunctions she should be prepared to avoid. - As for the hair, I don't mind extensions and if it is natural or not, because it is none of our business if someone uses them or not. But the result is our business and it is really very disappointing, how it looks and how she permanently keeps sweeping it out of her face. (Ann.)
ReplyDeleteHair extensions need to go. And hire a professional stylist
ReplyDeleteThey both look relaxed and rested. A nice touch to go and extend their thanks for the warm Canadian welcome they'd received during their stay.
ReplyDeleteAs for the look, it's a no from me. Though the pieces individually are nice, together, they seem out of place. I don't understand, Meghan and Kate, why they don't put their hair up and out of the way when out on duty. I have wondered for a while if Meghan is wearing extensions. She has such a pretty face, I wish she'd wear her hair off her face. Bel
Hair is horrible! Outfit is nice...this is NOT an official engagement, only an extension of their vacation. I fear things will never get better for these two.
ReplyDeleteI only like the shoes.. The rest of the outfit was messy and just off for day time events. I will not comment on her hair or sweat stain.
ReplyDeleteIt's rather strange to thank a country for a private vacation...
Do you all want that her hair woul'd look like the queen's, hahahah😁? I think that she looks lovely, including her hair. But neither I do not understand that "thanks giving" visit to the embassy. - Rita -
ReplyDeleteSince Canada is in the Commonwealth and they are the president and vice-president of the Commonwealth Trust, it seems to me like they are purposefully fitting in an engagement before they leave the country and their private holiday ends. I think it's quite smart.
DeleteSaying thank you is always a nice gesture. Nothing to be explained there.
DeleteBut in addition, although information was out about where they were, Canadian people left them alone. We knew where they might be walking. We knew where they ate several times. And yet everyone was respectful of their privacy. Including Canadian journalists. They didn’t jump at the opportunity to grab the potential headlines at the expense of someone’s life and holiday spirit prevailed. I am willing to bet that wouldn’t have happened in many other countries. So I think it not only perfectly normal that they went to express gratitude, but also telling that they still feel unfairly hunted and irresponsibly judged by all sorts of people for the sake of ‘entertainment’.
And should you still need confirmation, read about their encounters with people on hiking trails and helping them with selfies, without those people asking for a ‘memento’ of a picture with the royals or taking pictures behind their backs. Just decent people respecting them as human beings. Unfortunately not the case everywhere.
Lily A
Anna, they did not make the visit in Canada, they visited the embassy in London when they came back to England. I understand the connection concerning the Commonwealth and perhaps they didn't want to get so much publicity. I like them both very much and I hope all the best for them. It must be very tough for Meghan to be always compared with Kate. I have watched "The Crown" and I have been very sorry what happened to princess Margaret and how the Queen was forced to do very tough decisions against her own will. The royal life is really not a dance on the roses. - Rita -
DeleteThank you Rita, well said.
DeleteMars
I love this couple.
ReplyDeleteNice coulors for Meghan, she seems in great form
Vally
I think the outfit is modern, and practical... I am partial to browns that remind me of chocolate, and the coat just like a latte....:-) I don't think her hair is terrible, taking into account how difficult is to manage African hair. What never ceases to amaze me is the nastiness of some of the comments, I can feel my skin crawling just reading them. I would feel the same way if she was anybody else, but I suppose is a reflection of their souls.
ReplyDeleteI personally see a woman with an appropriate and somewhat forgettable outfit, smiling and engaging with the people around her.
I wish you all a wonderful day.
👍👍exactly my sentiments!
DeleteThank you Cherry Blossom, you put down my exact thoughts.
DeleteAnd to those who are making comments on sweat stains...? Really? Is it a crime to sweat now as well? We have all been in that situation and know how uncomfortable that can be, shame on you for pointing it out! And thanks to this blog for NOT showing those pictures.
Agree with Gunlise
DeleteMeghan is such a beautiful women and Meghan and Harry make a perfect couple. We are all persons of colour and therefore I wish you to tell me what makes you better?
Mars
Sweat stains under her arms, a thin shirt with her white bra peeking through (yes, many other sites show this), and her hair or fake hair is just a total mess. Is the six week break already over?
ReplyDeleteShelley
To me they look anxious and overly compensated to appear happy and rested but actually not. It's hard to describe.
ReplyDeleteFashion wise, I always think she looks better with subtle make up, soft eye, and shorter hair with side part. The skirt is a fail for me. It's better for private parties.
DeletePlease please please give the poor woman a chance. This was a thank you for all the help during their stay in Canada. It was not a state occasion and she wore a lovely coat, jumper and skirt. Some of you might not like her hair style but she smiled, looked animated and obviously resonated with the people there. This is not a blog for making snide comments about Megan but somewhere where we can discuss fashion and I for one am heartily sick of comments which have no meaning other than to stab someone who needs our help.
ReplyDelete100° agreed Elizabeth. But the good news is that whilst the negative (and some positive) comment are flowing in re Meghan, it's giving Charlene a break from the critics. SOS Charlene, be on stanby.
DeleteOn the fashion side, I like the colour combination of Meghan's outfit and its practicability for the occasion.
The coat, although unremarkable, is quite nice and I do like the skirt, although perhaps not for a day function. The top not so much, as it looks a bit messy, as does the hair. I think that part of the problem with the top is the ill-fitting undergarments, which may be an attempt to continue to use her pre-pregnancy bras post-pregnancy. It never worked for me. The visible sweat stains are an avoidable grooming issue that should have been anticipated, as it is unfortunately something people will remember.
ReplyDeleteI like the coat and shoes. I don't like the pullover in combination with velvet skirt. As a whole, the clothing is sufficient and suitable for an informal occasion.
ReplyDeleteBut hair looks like a wig. I do not understand why she artificially lengthens and thickens them. The other ladies around her have natural hair, so she looks oddly. I would like to see how she looks natural.
I like the outfit and disagree that the fabrics are not suitable for a daytime engagement. In fact it’s the pairing of the simple sweater and satin skirt that gives the outfit its contrast and interest. I do think her hair overwhelms her now both in length and volume, and I hope she finds a more flattering style. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteNot always a fan of Meghan's clothes choices and not overly fond of brown but I like this outfit. As with Maxima, sometimes we need to ignore the hair as it detracts from everything else. So, the shoes are gorgeous and I think the skirt and sweater suit the Duchess very well. I also like the camel coat but always prefer the coat to be (a) fastened and (b) as long as or longer than the skirt/dress underneath. I agree that it is good that they thank the Canadians for their hospitality and, as I understand, a substantial security presence. Hope we see more of them doing the day job and meeting people in the year ahead
ReplyDeleteI agree AnnieM
DeleteLet’s take a moment to consider how the designer, Massimo Dutti, styled the skirt in the picture. the setting is informal, daytime fashion, with a knit sweater. Meghan styled the outfit as it was intended by the designer. Regarding her hair, it’s fine. She has naturally curly hair that is processed “straighten” to smooth out the coils or curls. Her texture is different from Harry’s. However his hair is never neat and has a distinct slightly tousled look. It’s his texture. Please let’s be nice and stop criticizing someone hair. Leave her hair alone and Maxima and everyone else.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteWell said, and I totally agree with you on every point. Thank you.
DeleteAnon 9:13
Sorry but “how the designer chooses to style it” vs. so many references to Natan and how he chooses to “style” things are not going to determine my opinion of an outfit.
DeleteBesides what a boring fashion blog if the only opinion is the notes/images from the designer.
@1:30 The point is that too many people are rooted in old fashioned ideas about clothes and fabrics. This is a different time when fabrics can be mixed and worn day and night for interest. You are free to like it or not, but it doesn't make it wrong or mean the rules of fashion are being broken. They have changed. For a "fashion blog", it is comical to see how many people don't seem to know anything about fashion trends. Natan has ugly designs. No amount of styling can help them. Other designers are taking their pieces and showing them in unconventional ways because it is acceptable to wear clothes in the traditional manner we expect and to freshen up a look with more youthful pieces.
DeleteApparently her coat is by Reiss, not McCartney.
ReplyDeleteBrown not my favourite colour;dowdy;whats with the long skirt and the short coat;wear a jacket. The hair is a mess by now she should have a style for engagements or out and about on holiday.I would put her in navy wool trousers;cream cashmere roll neck sweater;navy wool; car coat(short length); navy seude boots low heel.Hair in a ponytail;diamente clasp;diamente earings.
ReplyDeleteI like Meghan's outfit, including her tan coat, and I think her hair is fine. The outrage over her hair is puzzling to me. She appears to be genuinely kind to all who meet her; she aspires to make the world better by her work; from all appearances, she truly loves her husband and son. Yet it seems that she is lambasted over the most trivial matters.
ReplyDeleteHer work? What is that?
DeleteThank you, Debra, for your sensible words! They seem to be really needed here at the momenf... It would be interesting to see the comments, if Meghan really would once decide to make an appearance with her hair in a ”non-groomed” condition. 😄 I find her to be a kind, open, and warm-hearted person, with a radiant natural beauty as a bonus. It’s nice to see how relaxed and happy they both look here.
Delete-Reka
OK. Let's just look at fashion and style, not her actions. I see her clothes not bad, but also not excellent.
DeleteBut hair is a mess. Maybe her fans will be angry, but
her hair looks artificial and messy. I once played in a school game and my classmate got a wig that looked like Meghan's hair. Our director commanded to cut hair on the wig, which helped.
@anonym 6:11. Well I would prefer comments on her actions!! they would probably be more positive than your rude comments, again, on Meghan's hair!
DeleteTo Maryt 7: 05 PM It is fashion blog so I write about fashion about hair and outfit. I´m not rude!I have the right to have my own opinion. I don't care if she is the Duchess of Sussex or the unknown Bronx woman or the Queen of Sheba. I see a woman who has - in my opinion - an unsuitable hairstyle and I think she would look better if she changed her hairstyle to something more natural because - I also think she's a pretty attractive woman. I respect too that someone has a different opinion and likes this messy hairstyle.
DeleteLike the shoes, call the Kardashians and find out who does their extensions, because her extensions look like she bought the best ones Sallys had in stock.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks lovely and I happen to like her hair. It is longer than royals in the day-to-day work, but these two don't have that role. She is glamorous and yet earthy, to me. I love the colors, and I don't mind the mixing of textures. It's not like she wore a gown to a daytime event (that didn't expressly call for one, that is).
ReplyDeleteIn several of the photos I cannot help but to think of a certain Mr. Archie in his holiday card photo. He has his Mom's eyes.
Whether hair extensions or not, her hair needs a good trim. It is so unkempt and much too long. I don't understand this. She pays attention to her clothes, but not her hair.
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess looked happy, very engaging, smiling and confident. With regards to her outfit, the idea was there but this is a rare miss for me. The combination of velvet shoes, different textures of fabrics re: skirt, top and the heavy coat. The skirt not really for daytime, satin/silk?. All together is a miss match. The skirt is longer than the coat, a no no for me. I don't normally like brown shades too much. These colours aren't too bad, but just not various colours all together.
ReplyDeletePlease, please appoint a hair stylist!
ReplyDeleteStaggering number of comments!
ReplyDeleteTo keep it fashion related only. Afew things make this appearance not as elegant as could be. Firstly, a pair of slack either brown, cream or black might work better, giving her height and not making the coat look funny. Second that silky material is very hard to pull off in a professional capacity...it's more apt for going out on town or informal get together setting. Third, a sweater that is more breathable and slightly larger might be more comfortable. Shoes...I don't know why folks think extremely high heel is elegant. I think moderate heel height is more practical and elegant.
Lastly, make up...less is more and match your skin tone. I think her make up is a little overdone. And hair neatly styled is preferred.
Joann
DeleteThank heavens someone has finally spoken up about those exaggerated high heels. And I am not jealous because I cannot wear them because of my back problems. But women do not look good in them.First of all, they ruin the leg line - especially the curve of the ankle. When a woman is standing facing someone she looks as if she's standing on two sticks. There is no curve to the ankle. And when photographed from other angles, she has a big bulge showing around the mid calf where her muscles are contracting from standing on her toes. And many women cannot walk in them. They are "picking" across the floor, swaying their rears back and forth to stay on balance. If that weren't enough, they are pulling the muscles on the foot arch. Over time, those muscles will be stretched too far and it will likely be painful to walk flat footed again. Podiatrists have already weighed in on the dangers of those shoes - the way they mess up the muscles in the hip area. Now, I feel better. And please don't yell at me. You'll thank me for this some day.
Every word is to the point!
DeleteGood point. And, Meghan is not the only one who wears shoes like that. Look at Crown Princess Mary or Queen Rania, for example, pretty much always insisting on a very high heel in their public appearances. It's exaggerated. - AJeurope
DeleteAccording to studies, both men and women tend to prefer partners with (slightly) longer legs than those of the average person. Thus, there is in fact a biological reason for the fashion for high heels. When a young girl reaches puberty, her legs lengthen more rapidly than other parts of her body, thanks to hormonal changes, and her long legs then become a signal of her sexual maturing. Thus, wearing high heels mimics this change and makes a woman look more attractive as a potential mating partner. Certainly not a healthy fashion at all, almost as unhealthy as the old Chinese custom of foot binding.
Delete-Helena-
Totally agree on these comments about the heels! Why are Woman doing this to themselves?
DeleteIt looks awful and is totally unhealthy as Joanne pointed out.
Joann
DeleteFor Helena - Thank you for that information on the history of wearing heels. I had never heard that before. I always wondered how women's high heels started. The idea of sexual maturing was very interesting. Again, a very informative post.
Well, Helena (or Anonymous 2:20) high-heels-wearer like Letizia, Mary and Meghan are already married and have children. So why the "biological reason" to wear them?
DeleteBoth of them look happy and relaxed ! We should stop to compare Kate and Meghan : clothes, hair etc. They are completely different . But after the long break, the lovely time they spent together with little Archie in Canada....back to work and perhaps a little brother or sister for Archie in 2020 ?!
ReplyDeleteSo many comments on her hair! Lord!! Can someone who is African-American tell us whether her hair is normal or not, given the texture, and put an end to this debate altogether? I would like to hear it from someone who has similar hair for once in my life!
ReplyDeleteI hope this information will shed some light on this hot topic concerning Duchess M shorten it so you can see her pretty faceeghans hair. I stumbled upon a video of Meghan on the Craig Fergeson show and she told him when she was a little girl she had very curly hair and used many products to straighten her hair. My only comment concerning her locks is that she is very small and with her thin face all you can see is her big hair. I think she needs to shorten her hair so you can see her pretty face. By the way this video shows a very charming Meghan its worth seeing....
ReplyDeleteAs you like it. Back to the stage … and no, I don‘t mean Meghan.
ReplyDeleteI don't care/mind whatever they do, as long as they pay for it with their own earned money. Nothing royal about Harry and his wife anyway - if there ever was ...
ReplyDeleteFashionwise I like the colour and the combination of skirt and top ...
Totally agree...nothing royal about either of them.
DeleteQueen
Nothing royal apart from Harry being the grandson of a monarch and the son of the heir. Just the title and bloodline then.
DeleteAs a non-British, not English person from Central Europe, I think I have a distance and I am an objective critic. I do not fully understand why these people attract such attention. If they came to Prague, Warsaw or Bratislava, nobody (except for foreign tourists) would probably notice them on the street if they had no bodygards around them.
ReplyDeleteSo for me - clothes: each piece is separately nice, but all pieces together do not match, such as a sweater and extra high heels Jimi Choo, plus a winter wool coat ...
Hair: I agree with the critical views.
According to the photo her appearance: is pleasant and nice.
What does this couple do? (I mean, besides visiting various events)
After reading all these comments in English and French, I would like to offer a fair, neutral and unbiased opinion regarding her HAIR. I saw some other photos on Paris Match with further details. Meghan looks relaxed and happy. However, her hair smothers her pretty face and is far too long, in fact the overall impression is ruined by this dominating disproportion and makes her look untidy and unattractive. We know that she can do much better, a pity.
ReplyDeleteIn the fifth picture, I thought she is wearing a black head scarf. Think the extensions need to go. She's got nice hair and is attractive enough without them.
ReplyDeleteOf course they look happy and relaxed, they are on vacation, just doing nothing much. Being adored and taken care of. I am not a fan.
ReplyDeleteThey just announced on Instagram that they are rertiring from senior royal life and going to finance themselves. I guess the haters got what they wanted, i personally feel for them, theybseem like a genuine couple.
ReplyDeleteFor my opinion it‘s the right consequence. Hopefully the positions between royal duties and charity-vip‘s will be separated well. Harry never felt very comfortable in his role, he often struggled with it. Now he has a partner who makes this step easier for him. It‘s not a question of haters, this is only one point among many. Let‘s see what the royals make of it.
DeleteConsidering it came as a surprise to the Palace learning at the same time as the rest of the world on Instagram- I think these two are just self-focused loose cannons and it is best they part ways- a bit too in the mold of David & Wallace.
DeleteGlo
Wallace—>Wallis
DeleteUgh auto correct
Glo
I wish them well but only time will tell.
DeleteNote that they didn't say they give up royalty entirely...but just step back, whatever that means. This way they can still use royal connection for branding, speaking etc. Cause let's face it without royal heritage and connection I don't think people would even notice. Perhaps trying to have it all. Will let time tells the story.
If you read on their website they are only giving up the 5% that was funded by the Crown Trust. 95% from Prince Charles they will still be receiving. They will also be plan to charge salary now. Sounds to me like they want to have their cake and eat it. They luce much too lavishly to ever be able to live without the Prince of Wales 95%. There is alot I have left out so go read on their website to understand more.
DeleteIf it is indeed true they blindsided the Queen, (P Charles & P William ) in announcing their plan to step back then I rest my case...that's just childish and disrespectful. It says more about them than the RF.
DeleteSo they have 'stepped back' from royal duties.. What a shame
ReplyDeleteYou cannot expect,an adult careerwoman of nearly fourty years to adjust smoothly in this very special system called “monarchy”, espacially not when she is not British.
DeleteAnonymous 12:43, then it would have been wiser not to marry into this special system!
DeleteSadly, this was becoming almost inevitable. Meghan clearly did not enjoy the British way of life----putting up with things you don't like or don't enjoy for the sake of the monarchy, (Christmas at Sandringham) ignoring the advice about expressing opinions which could be regarded as political then being upset when criticised, (Vogue cover) trying to play the media and then wondering why they are critical (Master Archie's birth). Overall, they are still a definite asset to the monarchy and there are other examples of younger siblings creating their own lives abroad--Princess Madeleine of Swedewn comes to mind. The people I feel really sorry for the Queen and Prince of Wales who have obviously had this thrown at them as virtually a "fait accompli" just as they were getting over the Prince Andrew scandal.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. They are giving up their royal duties but not their royal titles. I find them both rather naive.
DeleteSweeping more than 80 girls under the carpet is more than sad. Aar
DeleteThey are spoiled brats. Period. Awful. They should be ashamed. Marie
DeleteOh my!! I am so happy for their decision.....I don't see why people are upset about it.. wait a minute, yes I do!
ReplyDeleteWho are they going to hate now? Back to vilifying Kate? It will never be that juicy after all, she doesn't possess the qualities that make her the perfect subject for the yellow press to attack and manipulate the women haters. After seeing the pit stain photos, I realized the cruelty of society, can you imagine if this or worse had happen to you or your daughter and some " friend" would post all over social media?
Let me count the ways..
She is a woman of color.
She has her own money.
She has higher education.
She is a woman of color.
She is American.
She has her own ideas.
She refuses to let strangers meddle in her life.
She is a person of color.
She is independent.
She refuses to be vase.
She is intelligent.
She is human.
She is fallible.
I wish them both health and happiness.
DeleteI couldn't have said it any better. Hooray for them. Tyndall and Zara also announced that they will move to Australia. No hue cry was heard. MB
I agree wholeheartedly! I'm super happy for them as well.
DeleteZara and her husband might move to Australia one day. She just accepted a job in England I believe. Nope. Sorry. These are two spoiled brats that don't want to work for the crown. They want Dad's money. But not the Sovereign Grant. You can't have it both ways. The Queen is going to have her hands full with this situation that they have selfishly put her in. There will be decisions to be made in reference to Government and Security. As the press release said, this will be complicated. And an unprecedented situation. Apparently they did not listen to her about releasing their statements. The Queen and the Monarchy will stand. She will do what needs to be done. But he is her grandson. I know she is so hurt right now. Wow. Unbelievable. Not the best way to back away. For sure. (Jean)
DeletePeople are upset because the British people will have to continue to pay outlandish sums of money for their "security" all while they will be making more outlandish sums of money in their "business" ventures.
DeletePeople are also upset at her continual refusal to follow royal protocol in sooo many ways. If she wants to be so independent then she needs to quit taking tax payer money!
I say good riddance to the both of them.
Sophie
Utter nonsense!
DeleteI usually agree with and enjoy your posts @Cherry Blossom, but I totally disagree on your repeating over and over "she is a person of color", I don't think that has much to do with Harry's and her behavior. They both act like spoiled brats.
DeleteAgree - what a shame. In our times it is still a huge problem to be a feminist.
ReplyDeleteStop going after her hair. NO ONE SHOULD EVER comment or criticize on African/African-American hair. That racism needs to stop. Since colonization we're STILL forced to cut, shave, straighten and hide it. We're discriminated against for wearing it naturally and now you're going after Meghan who may or may not wear extensions. Royals wear them all the time too. What's with you people? Learn history. - Alla
ReplyDeleteCriticism of hair style on fashionblog IS NOT racism. AND you are wrong. Everyone has right to say his opinion. I think it is called Freedom of speech. She CAN wear what she wants and I have right to say if I like it or not. People often criticize hair of queen Maxima and her fans can get over it.
DeleteHear hear! Couldn't agree more.
DeleteHow many times was Queen Maxima bashed for her hair in this blog? Countless times. But because she is white and blonde that is okay? That's double moral standards. Either you condemn any remarks a persons hair or not. Scarlet Witch
DeleteNo anonymous. You CLEARLY don't know the history of racism of African-American hair. It is racism. Here in the states as Alla mentioned we are discriminated against for our natural or non-natural hairstyles. Why don't you look up mammy and the racist history of our hair. You are insensitive and don't understand it so gimme a break on freedom of speech. Saying her hair is messy when it isn't because why? It's doesn't look like a non woman of color's hair?? We go through it daily of people wanting to touch or hair and then getting fired for braids or locs when non women of color wear braids and locs and aren't bothered. Take the privilege of "double standard" out please. Maxima has nothing to do with Meghan. - Esme
DeleteThat puts at risk the lives and livelihoods of the Trolls (Daily Mail aso). Photos and other sources will be much more expensive.
ReplyDeleteMars
And sadly, this is what is driving them away. Can't say I blame them. Constant nitpicking is unhealthy
ReplyDeleteI love Meghan and Harry
ReplyDeleteIts sad to see the break in relationship between the brothers
I think back of them doing a walk about the day before Harrus wedding at Windsor... i remember them playing together as kids
I look at how good the FAB 4 looked as they walked together to church that Christmas morning
I was crying with them when there mum died. Was hapoy with them when they got married and had children
Why do they want to set back from royal life... we love to see them and kniw that they doing well. They feel like my children
When Meghan came along i was so happy as i know that she will bring a new fresh part to the royal family
Harry and William wer3 born into a family with tradition and responsibilities...even his uncle tje eatl spencer respected that when he mentioned that he will respect that in his speech at there mums funeral.
When Meghan said yes i will marry you... she didnt just say yes to the man but yes to the insitition of the British toyal family and all there rules aswell. Its difficult yes. But its a way of life and she had to have known what that entails. Yes...she is an adult women with he own mind set. But for me she must know that when u marry a man that is a senior member of the royal family...then tjere is a certain amount of respinsiblity..
As difficult as it may be
Im hearsore today because of this news
Im heartsore today because of the break in rekationship between the "boys" that i grown to love
I love Meghan and felt that with her standing side by side with Harry would have been a power couple for the royal family
Never mind the hair extensions or the other negative things that has been said about her... it doesnt taje away from the fact that she is a beautuful intellient successful women of colour
Rochelle - a women of colour- from Cape Town RSA
Agree with you and I always wondered that Duchess Catherine is the better person for so many Bloggers - why? I can not get what made her better?
DeleteMars
Catherine has a husband who was smart enough to know the press storm that would happen with his future bride and tried to prepare her for it. They dated for several years. William understood what marrying into the family entailed. He watched his mother do it and LEARNED from that. And every single move Catherine made was studied and criticized. Not to mention Camillia, who because of the situation with Diana, was absoulutely raked through the coals. They both responded with silence, dignity, humor, a strong work ethic, and a sense of family and duty. William in turn grew up and matured. And married someone who would calm him, help him carry out his duties, give him his own sense of family with his own children, and above all support him. Harry and Meghan rushed into dating and marriage. They don't think before they speak. They don't think before they do impulsive things. And it shows. Someone on Twitter said it best and I am summarizing. But there were two boys trailing behind Diana's coffin that September day. One grew up and matured. The other just grew up. It isn't all Meghan. It is also, I believe, as much Harry as her behind these decisions. And I know his grandmother, father, and brother are so
Deletehurt right now. The monarchy will stand. The Queen will do what must be done. She always has so make no mistake about that. But he is still her grandson. And I know this is painful for her. So sad. (Claire)
Claire well said. I fully agree with u
DeleteTHANK YOU Claire.

The Meghan hate and lies we see here is the reason this couple now are stepping down. Net hate, lies and rule violations form the press can brake even the strongest people. So can only congratulate you won.
ReplyDelete@anonym 6:11 and 10:54
ReplyDeleteAgree this is a fashion blog and therefore I can not understand why facism is allowed here.
To Anon 11:44 here do you see fascism? People; you are mad. Someone says that does not like hairstyle of some woman and you yelled: racism, fascism. It is only fashion! Is it possible that one intelligent strong woman could be upset because of fashion critic? This hypercorrection is toxic. I admire fans and ladies who can sdmit fashion critical opinion with smile and grace like fans of p
DeleteMabel and queen Maxima.
Cherry Blossom's "she is intelligent" -
ReplyDeleteIs she? If she made a mistake when ignoring the consequences of marrying (1) into the Royal Family and (2) the son of Diana, then she should not blame others and punish Harry for it. She cannot make up for all that Harry is losing because of her, i.e. his (first) family. -
Just look at Camilla, this is how an intelligent woman masters all the media and public hate.
(Ann.)
Meghan may be intelligent but I doubt her social skills.
DeleteTotally right Ann!
DeleteMonica
Nope. Not intelligent at all. Both are spoiled brats who want what they want. They should be embarrassed at how they come across to people. All that they have comes with being royal. They have put the Queen in an awful situation. Camilla and Catherine both had awful press. They soldiered on. It happens. Do not pay them a cent. No Sovereign Grant, and none from Charles. Which they still wanted. I don't know that Charles would do that to his son, though. But still. You want to make your own money and be independent? Fine. Strip the Sussex, and get to it. And oh by the way, you don't get the cottage either. Enough is enough. Mike
DeleteWell, doesn't this event make so much sense now. LOL.
ReplyDeleteChel
What an excellent summary, Claire. All 4 lead incredibly privileged lives. William and Catherine accept that. Harry and Meghan don't. The words spoilt and naive mentioned frequently should be joined by entitled. I really thought Meghan was a fantastic addition to the Royal Family--through her engagement and wedding, though I had concerns about the lack of family at her wedding--not her Dad and the half siblings (there were very obvious and understandable issues there) but her uncle who was a diplomat and had secured an internship for her in the Argentinian embassy or her mothers siblings Joseph Johnson and Saundra Lewis. Why were they banned? The next niggle came for me with the announcement of her pregnancy at Eugenie's wedding which seemed a mean thing to do on the bride's big day and they followed thick and fast thereafter culminating in the farce of Master Archie's "secret" birth and christening. Her statement at the end of the South African tour that they were "existing" after she had seen people in really difficult circumstances said it all. Harry's clearly not blameless in this but I just hope that, as his father has done, in the future Harry may get a second chance at happiness
