| On January 10, 2020, Danish Queen Margrethe II received German Schleswig-Holstein's State Premier Daniel Guenther and his wife Anke Guenther at Christian IX’s Palace, Amalienborg in Copenhagen. In 2020, 100 years have passed since Southern Jutland was reunited with Denmark. The 100th anniversary will be celebrated with activities throughout the country. The centenary will start with an official opening event held at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen this evening. |
Nice Visit from Germany to Denmark. I really like this dress the Q is wearing, the scarf gives it something extra. I like the dress of Mrs Guenther as well.

This is a great dress on Queen Margrethe; it looks quite modern and streamlined in a way that would suit most women but definitely is flattering to a mature woman. The shawl works beautifully with it, and I can’t help being struck by the wonderful color-coordination between the blue and rust tones in the carpet and in Margrethe’s outfit! Something tells me that the queen’s artistic eye was involved in choosing the setting for this photo 🙂

ReplyDeleteDear Ann, I am convinced that the queen chose this subdued, neutral colour on purpose, for political reasons. To simplify, the north of Schleswig-Holstein used to belong to Denmark, a long and complicated history, which means that careful diplomatic movements are essential.

ReplyDeleteSorry, I disagree. In my view the drab colour of the Queen's dress does absolutely nothing for her. I am not a great fan of Mrs Guenther's dress either but Oi like the dress and especially the blue shawl of the little lady in pic number 3

ReplyDeleteI like this dress a lot though I am not sure the color allows her usual glow. It's cut and subtle detail are lovely, though. Maybe a darker shawl would make it pop more.
