On January 1, 2020, members of Danish royal family attended the traditional New Year’s Levee and Banquet which is the first reception of the new year held for the government and high-level officers. Queen Margrethe hosted the reception at Christian VII's Palace in Amalienborg. Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Princess Benedikte were present at the reception. |
Danish Royal family looking in fine fettle for the New Year. Love the colour of the Queen's dress and the rich jewel colours of the others. Good to see Joachim and Marie back at formal functions in Denmark.
ReplyDeleteThe Danish royal women look lovely in their plush gowns and sparkling jewels. The two princes look very handsome in their military regalia.
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks really good, I like the colour of her dress a lot and the fabric is great.
ReplyDeleteMary looks fantastic, very majestic, everything fits perfect together.
Marie is a beautiful woman, hair and makup and tiara are very nice, but the dress is really bad. I don't like the shape and the 'sewings', the fabric looks cheap and the dress is fitting bad, too. Marie usually does much better.
Benedikte is a WOW! She is such a fantastic looking woman, she's glowing and looks happy and confident all the time. Her dress and style are fantastic, she has a great natural attitude.
Marie's gown is from one of her pregnancies; so perhaps that's why it doesn't look quite right on her now. *Rose*
DeleteWhen Princess Benedikte comes on stage, it's always a WOW. She has that "je ne sais pas" that makes her stand out.
DeleteMary’s dress is also from when she was pregnant.
DeleteE.B.B.
CP Mary looks marvellous, repeat dress stunning. I loved it the first time she wore it. The rubies look gorgeous with this velvet gown. Love the small clutch. Princess Benedikte looks sensational. Her gown fits her curves perfectly, very becoming. Pearl and drop earrings polish her outfit off beautifully. Love the choice of tiara. Her beautiful smile lights up her face.
ReplyDeleteI love Benedikte and Mary's velvet gowns. Beautiful. The Queen looks fabulous also. Those are my favorite jewels of Mary's. As for Marie, she is so beautiful, but this dress is not. I do not like the fabric. If it had been a different fabric, with a little more structure, less shine, it would have been good. The color is great, suits Marie well. And she looks beautiful in that tiara.

Princess Benedikte, what a charming and stylish lady. Her dress is adorable. Of course this is a very traditional occasion, but sorry to say the crownprince and his brother look a little bit like "clowns". Too much decorations. Most of these decorations are qualitate qua given by other royals during e.g. state visits, according to protocol.
ReplyDeleteSo I don't think that these decorations represent a heroic act. So pls half of them is more than enough.
Is Marie pregnant?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I will be the only one with discording views. I agree on seeing positive elements about most gowns BUT I cannot understand that Qn Margaret is still wearing this awful piece of fur, which she has had for so many years which is not attractive at all.
ReplyDeleteIt is dead already. Why wouldn't she wear it?
DeleteTotally agree with yr remark about the fur! Anna
DeleteJoann -I agree with Mary T. on the Queen's fur wrap. I hate it. It looks as if it's been in the rain. And it ruins her overall look. The gown is lost in it and so is she. There must be a sentimental attachment to it. Because I can't imagine a stylist would recommend it. Maybe it could be trimmed back or something or dyed. I don't know. And what is more puzzling is the Queen is an accomplished artist. She knows all about mixing fabrics, colors, embellishments, etc. So why she wears that fur is beyond me. And I mean no disrespect to Her Majesty for speaking frankly.
DeleteI totally agree you about the old fur, it is so old that it has even lost its shape. Time to retire it and make a fashionable throw pillow with it!
DeleteRavissantes toutes ces dames mais je préfère quand même la toilette de la reine ; je ne suis pas fan de sa fourrure !
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks marvelous, and even a little sassy. Love the unapologetic use of her fur wrap. For the other ladies, velvet and moire always look luxurious.
ReplyDeleteMary's dress is beautiful and fits like a glove. I like Benedikte's dress as well. Queen's outfit is ok but Marie's choice was unlucky, it looks crumpy.
ReplyDeleteFrederik is very handsome man but I'm not fan of these Danish uniforms. The hat looks like a joke. - Siri
I loved the queen's outfit, until I saw the photo with the white nylon stockings with the gold shoes. What was she thinking? .... JT
ReplyDeleteYes they were also on my NO list!
DeleteI must say the winners of today's event is CPss Mary the Queen and Pss Benedikte. I like Pss Marie's gown but a bit too shiny maybe her hair up would have made it look different? Only MO of course.
ReplyDeleteI always really appreciate Her Maj's mixing of colors. Here, the turquoise of her gown, which fits her so well and the emeralds in her jewels.
ReplyDeleteOn the fur: I too am not a fan of fur, but I like this queen's sass and her allegiance to her own views. And I like that the fabled yeti makes an appearance every now and again.
I like the gown Marie wears but I am not as much a fan of mixing silver hardware on the tiara with the gold chain they wear (some of you here would know the proper name). Picky, yes. I do wish that this family would share the tiaras like the Swedish ladies. Will be interesting to see if Mary changes anything in that regard. Back to Marrie's gown, I like the shape and shoulders and how the pin sits low on her chest. It's unfortunate it's a little wrinkly but I'm sure in person looked great. Love the neckline.
Mary always makes this outfit looks smashing. I very much like how she is wearing the ruby parure here, and it is surely a part of her now.
Benedikte looks amazing. What a color! The tiara looks wonderful on her and reminds.
Wow! I like the ice aqua color of Margrethe's gown. All the ladies look lovely. Sustainability is making its mark on fashion, so no problem with gowns being worn more than once.
