King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain started the official duties of 2020 with the traditional celebration of the Military Easter, also known as New Year’s Military Parade, at the Royal Palace of Madrid. On January 6, 2020, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain attended Pascua Militar (New Year's Military Parade 2020) in Madrid. Pascua Militar is a traditional celebration held by Spanish Army on Epiphany day since 1782. King Felipe led the celebration as the commander of Armed Forces. Royal ladies wear a long dress at Pascua Militar ceremony as a tradition. |
I love the color of the queen's gown but, to me, it has a "bathrobe" vibe to it. Also, her hair is uncharacteristically messy. On a positive note, her makeup is perfect, and her pearl and diamond earrings are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI am totally agree with you Debra.
DeleteI agree it looks very dressing gown like but I love it it is just unexpected and different for a change. the oh so popular wisps floating about do not succeed in this instance but just look like she got caught in a gale.
DeleteIt is the protocol for this event, Pascua Militar, celebrated since 1782.
DeleteA long dress but cozy and warm because it is freezing.
Sadly, the messy bun spoils this otherwise very dignified look.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeletePenelope
Totally agree, Jane. The outfit is lovely and it's such a gorgeous colour. Shame about the straggly hair.
DeleteAgree.
Delete-Elisabeth-
True , the messy bun is not very nice. The gown would be more pretty with a belt I think.
DeleteMeghan Markle effect?
DeleteAgree about the hair.
DeleteQueen Letizia is stunning in blue💙! Perfect hair and makeup too. The earrings must be new...Happy Pascua!🇪🇸
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are from the late Juan Carlos' mother, María de las Mercedes de Borbón, Countess of Barcelona
DeleteSusana.
Those earrings are stunning. Would love to know their provenance. DMP
ReplyDeleteLove this cobalt blue colour on Queen Letizia Very elegant and I think it may be a full length coat over a short dress or skirt. Like her soft wispy hair-do. Overall very pleasing ensemble for the occassion.
ReplyDeleteThe protocol is a long dress, it is a "castrense" (military) event but in the morning.
DeleteThe blue long tuxedo style dress is gorgeous. The color, style and fit are fantastic. The earrings are beautiful. Makeup is flawless as usual. However, the hair looks disheveled, uncharacteristic for her. Maybe from the elements outside? If so, I just don't see her hair stylist not compensating for this.
ReplyDeleteChel
Totally agree with you Chel.
DeleteI like everything else except the colour... :-)
J'adore !
ReplyDeleteThis is a very lovely color, but what happen'd?. I like the dress, but in other photos the slit is to high. Her earrings are stunning her makeup perfect, the hair not so much.
It is giving the oposite effect. Sam
DeleteSober and elegant. Love the dress, the earrings and make up and don't mind the slightly messy updo.
DeleteSusana
No need to be rude. Navneet
DeleteAna
lovely colour, very becoming and indeed a smart and elegant appearance.
ReplyDeletewould there perhaps please be any info on the colour and make of her lipstick ?
thank you,
jmm
I like this dress, taking into account that this act requires a long dress, and being in the morning the design can't look too elaborate or have a " night/cocktail " vibe , which often results in outfits that look a little strange.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of de-structure updos, but this time the result is not good, it has the appearance of a hairstyle that has been blown by the wind or rain, rather that an intentional messy bun.
Wonderful dress, hair and makeup!! Stunning and elegant!!
ReplyDeleteI am a great fan of Queen Letizia however this time her outfit has missed the mark - just my opinion and the hair is a tad too messy.
ReplyDeleteThis gown is lovely. Colour is gorgeous and very becoming. A perfect fit, very elegant and regal looking. The Queen has perfect posture. Those earrings are divine, love them.
DeleteStunning outfit
ReplyDeleteThe gown is lovely on her, both in colour and style. I’m chuckling a bit at her messy hair....the Royal hairspray must have gone missing!
ReplyDeleteNice coat. But she is beutiful even with a potato sack dress.
