On January 1, 2020, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan and other members of Japanese imperial family attended a New Year reception held for ambassadors to Japan at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo after visiting former Emperor Akihito and former Empress Michiko. The reception is held each year traditionally at the beginning of new year. |
Très belles photos.. Magnifique le couple impérial ; belle allure de l'empereur et Masako est superbe avec cette belle parure de diamants.. J'aime beaucoup sa petite broche !
ReplyDeleteMarvellous Masako! By the way, didn't her daugther Aiko not celebrate her 18th birthday recently, so not yet allowed to participate?
DeleteYes, I was hoping that Aiko might join the other ladies at this event.
DeleteShe will be presented at court with tiara and matching jewels on her 20th birthday, not before.
DeleteC'est à l'âge de 20 ans qu'elle sera autorisée à participer !
DeleteElegant and classic. The jewels are stunning. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteClassic and traditional. Very nice great jewels.
ReplyDeleteThe Dresses - same same but totally different. I like their traditions.
ReplyDeleteThese beautiful ladies are the epitome of elegance, class and grace. The Empresses looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe Emperor and Empress look beautiful. I'm so glad to see Masako doing well in her role. As for the rest of the royal ladies, beautiful. Loving the coordination!

Can anyone tell me if wearing long sleeves is proper outfit for official events? Instead of long gloves?
ReplyDeleteCould anyone tell me wearing long sleeves is proper outfit for this kind of occasion? Without long gloves?
ReplyDeleteNot happening there. They always wore long white gloves and probably will continue doing so. Long sleeves make not much sense when wearing these kind of gloves.
DeleteThank you! I thought long sleeves aren't suitable for this kind of event. Empress is wearing it but no one else...So I was just curious. I guess she has own style and not following the 'rules'.
