On December 3, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended an official gala held in honour of winners of 'Mariano de Cavia', 'Mingote' and 'Luca de Tena' journalism awards at ABC House in Madrid. These awards are called "the ABC International Journalism Awards" and held for the 99th time this year and granted by ABC newspaper each year. This year, ABC gave Mariano de Cavia award to Spanish writer, journalist and philosopher Gabriel Albiac, Luca de Tena award to Dominican businessman José Luis Corripio and Mingote award to graphic humorist José María Nieto. |
I like it. It´s black again, but for a gala, a LBD is a different matter. Also, the make-up seems more fitting.
ReplyDeleteThe netting and fringe alludes to that of a traditional Spanish manton. I wonder if this dress was by a Spanish designer? I really think these elements add interests and cultural value to an otherwise run-of-the-mill sheath dress.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Anna!
DeleteLove everything except that ring :)
ReplyDeleteImo fishnet is not a good look on anyone, ever -- and fringe is impossible to wear successfully unless you're dressing up as a flapper or a cowgirl. Put long, semi-sheer sleeves on this dress, and you'd have a winner -- although it wouldn't be a topic of conversation, which I suspect the fishnet/fringe creation instantly became 🙂.
ReplyDeleteAttention and celebrity. Sorry, she is definitely not my favorite person.
Delete@7:18 Attention and celebrity are throw away words(from a small vocabulary) that neither describe the dress nor honor the reason for the event. Celebrities are actually people who work for their living, putting time and effort into what they do, even if it is unconventional. -Denise
DeleteRight on!
DeleteHello Anonymous 3:39pm. My "throw-away words" from a "small vocabulary" were succinct (to-the-point). No need to write paragraphs with flowery high-falutin language simply for the sake of turning a phrase to impress. It's also in deference to folks here who perhaps struggle a bit with English. Cheerio!
DeleteAnonymous @ 3:39PM. I agreed wholeheartedly with your comment.
DeleteMore ignorance. Why comment when you don't know what you are talking about? Flappers and cowgirls? You are expressing a very narrow view.
Delete@7:18 I don't think she is seeking attention. She gets enough plenty of that whether she wants it or not. Celebrity? It is so easy to throw that word around, isn't it? She couldn't be any further from a celebrity. She is a queen. A queen with a remarkable sense of style. Nothing more. You, by your own admission, don't like her, and decided to be snarky.
@9:23 Empty rhetoric to describe the person instead of weaving a network of words to describe the fashion offers the reader nothing, but an opinion probably taken from the fringe press. Quite a smoky eyed view of a person you surely have never met. ...and yes, from the top, the use of language is always revealing. -Denise
DeleteSo beautiful. Hair, makeup, accessories. 😘
ReplyDeleteIt’s different. It’s glam. Like the shoulders. Not too sure about the ‘sleeves’
ReplyDeleteThe many looks of Queen Letizia! This one is most interesting. I almost didn't recognize her with the straight hair, and her flapper styled gown. She has a creative stylist who keeps us guessing. The Queen is beautiful, as always.
ReplyDeleteThe demure coat comes off and voila! this creation. Her stylist has chosen excellent looks lately. She always goes dramatic for this event. The fringe and open weave at the shoulders bring the drama to this basic little black dress. Another winner.
ReplyDeleteTotally sgree
DeleteVery smart! If you look carefully at her previous event you can see the netting of the dress underneath the coat, as well as the same bag and shoes. All she had to do was remove the coat and viola, new outfit.
ReplyDeleteMaria I was considering that to be the case too. It would explain why her eye makeup for the COP25 conference was a bit heavy. But somehow the eye makeup for this event looks lighter? Perhaps it faded a bit as the day went on? She looks great nonetheless and was able to kill two birds with one stone.
DeleteJoli modèle avec cette résille mais les franges me semblent superflues ; le maquillage même s'il est parfait me semble trop appuyé !!!
ReplyDeleteShe is such a creative and fashionable queen. She is always elegant, gorgeous, stunning. I really love her taste.
ReplyDeleteAgree with all points. She has what it takes to manage every appearance.
ReplyDeleteThis was a reply to Debra. (No idea, why that isn‘t displayed...)

DeleteGreat look, i love all combination, she really looks good!
ReplyDeleteSo simple and so perfect.
Currently the best dressed queen in the world, the most elegant royal.
ReplyDeleteI do agree.

I do agree.

She looks amazing - I like the fringed effect, it makes the dress different. She has an enviable figure that looks particularly good in this style of sheath dress.
ReplyDeleteLove the hair and make up especially the dramatic eyes.
Yes Letizia looks good,great look.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a standout look, from the fringe and net detail of this ensemble, to that gorgeous makeup. I could see why this might not be a look for everyone, fringe is dividing, but she looks fantastic. Not many could pull this off, but she certainly does for me.
ReplyDeleteChel
to quote Carl Kolchak - the horribleness and the awfulness will not soon be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteFab!! Outstanding.
ReplyDeleteThe coat is beautiful. This gown, is divine. The Queen looks stunning. Her hair and makeup are perfect.
ReplyDeleteWow! J'adore.
Meine Fashionqueen 2019 heißt also Letizia!
ReplyDeleteWas für ein Kleid ist das? Hersteller, Seriennummer? Style? Irgendjemand ne Idee?
