On November 22, 2019, The Prince and The Duchess attended a Whakamanuhiritanga ceremony which is a welcome ceremony at Tuahiwi Marae in Christchurch. During the ceremony, The Prince and The Duchess wore korowai, Maori cloaks. Afterwards, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles, Prince of Wales met with New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as they visited Cashmere High School and met with victims of the Christchurch Mosque Shooting in Christchurch. |
Cashmere High School was greatly affected by the March 2019 mosque attacks, with seven people associated with the school killed, including two current students. In the school hall, The Prince and The Duchess watched a performance by the Kapa Haka Group. Then, The Prince and The Duchess visited Tūranga Library in Christchurch. |
