This year, The Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi) celebrates its 10th anniversary. On the occasion of that anniversary, King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia attended events and award ceremony, held at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona. The FPdGi is a private foundation established by civil society entities in Girona in 2009. The honorary chairman of the Foundation is King Felipe, on behalf of his daughter Crown Princess Leonor. |
The Foundation’s main objective is to work for young people in all areas that are critical for their future. This year's awardees became Ignacio Hernández Medrano, Rafael Rodríguez, Begoña Arana Álvarez, Xavier Ros-Oton and Maria Jammal. |
Beautiful family. Letizia looks great in red. I want Leonor’s dress.

I want Sofia's :)

The style of this family is fantastic. The girls look so beautiful. Letizia always looks gorgeous in red. Felipe is handsome as usual. They just seem to get better with age. Stylistically, I do like the fact their outfits compliment each other without matching, which has been a trend with them lately. Great choice as the girls age and mature.

Pourquoi Sofia est elle toujours présente ?
ReplyDeleteOù sont Chritina et Helena, les soeurs du Roi ?
Il faudrait être logique.
Sofía is the "spare", Cristina and Elena are NOT royals, they do not have a salary for duties. In Spain the Royal family are only Felipe, Letizia their daughters and the Emérito Juan Carlos and Emérita Sofía. Cristina is exiled in Switzerland and Elena works for a private company.
DeleteLeonor and Sofia are the King’s daughters, thus members of the Royal Family, which consists of the monarch, the consort, the children of the monarch and the surviving parents of the monarch. The King’s sisters, Cristina and Elena are not members of the institutional Royal Family, only members of the King’s family.
Deletewe can also think that the parents do not want a different treatment between the princesses at this stage, they seem to be quite close.
DeleteFelipe's sisters are not "royals", they are only Family of the King and they need to have a normal job. In Spain we only pay for Felipe, Letizia, Juan Carlos and Sofia, the rest are not Royal Family.
ReplyDeleteI love the dresses that both girls are wearing, especially the one worn by Leonor. As the girls are transitioning into their early teen years, their public appearances have been stepped up as they are being prepared for their future roles -- enveloped in the security and example of their parents' presence.
ReplyDeletePretty girls. Love their outfits. Letizia looks good in red.

Letizia is the lady in red again.Great color for her. The dresses of Leonor and Sofia look very nice. This are two lovely young girls.Leonor's dress stands out at least for me.
ReplyDeleteIsa, I imagine Sofía is present because they are the nucleus of the family. They are so close in age. They probably ask Sofía if she wants to be present. Speculating.
ReplyDeleteIsa, according to the Spanish Royal institution, the infantas Elena and Cristina were very much present on all the Royal functions when they were part of the Royal Family, once Felipe became king, they became family of the king.
ReplyDeleteSo Sofia will be considered Royal Family until her sister becomes queen, and it is within her rights to be present on these acts. Also do you think she should be left at home?
...like the family dog.
DeleteJolie silhouette de Letizia dans cet ensemble rouge même si je trouve le pantalon un peu trop long ; j'aime beaucoup la robe de Leonor !!!
ReplyDeleteSuperb dress for Leonor and I like Sofia's too though not quite as much. I know they are close in age but not only is Sofia now taller than her older sister, I think she is beginning to look older as well. It's especially noticeable in the photos where they are all seated.Hope all went well in Barcelona after the unrest that there's been there.
ReplyDeleteI agree on your observation on the difference in growth and also in presentation of themselves. Sophia looks the more secure to me. The difference in position and future must be difficult.
DeleteI also noticed that Sophia is more graceful in the she sits and stands (knees and feet together). She strikes me as the more mature of the two. Princess Leonor will carry the weight of the crown on her shoulders. She’s a beautiful teen with a sweet and charming personality.
DeleteSouthernbelle...you obviously have not watched Leonor's speeches in many languages, ther was even an ovation.
DeleteMiss Helen Electra, I have to complete the information you give. CP Leonor is Princess of Girona, it's one of her titles as heiress to the throne. That's why she is attending this ceremony.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking, well put together family look. Not a fan of the pant styling of the Queen.
ReplyDeleteGlo
The girls are obviously not only very pretty, they also appear as well-educated with good manners. What a lovely royal family!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfits for all of the ladies. Q. Letitia Looks amazing in her signature red. I love this pantsuit - beautifully tailored with a twist, the slit hemline. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks superb, love the red pantsuit, she wears it well. The girls look lovely in their dresses.
ReplyDeleteLeonor es una princesa tan segura de ella misma, valiente y carismática. Es adorable. !Qué discurso tan precioso el de anoche! Esta niña es una princesa "Disney".. pero mejorada
