On November 4, 2019 Queen Maxima of the Netherlands presented 2019 Prince Bernhard Culture Fund Prize to Dutch Mill Association (Vereniging de Hollandsche Molen) in a ceremony held at Amsterdam IJ Music Building. Dutch Princess Beatrix also attended the award ceremony. Since 1923, the Dutch Mill Association has worked for the conservation and preservation of windmills and watermills in the Netherlands with the aim of maintaining them in working order. There are about 1.050 wind- and 150 watermills in the Netherlands. |
Q. Maxima steht immer irgendwie so hölzern.
Maxima has A beautifull face but She is not an elegant lady, nor in posture nor in movement.
DeleteWalking on the very high heels has allways been painfull to watch.
The Total outfit today: overdressed and not her style, to oldfashioned indeed.
@anonymus 12:37, completely agree. Maxima is not elegant at all. Well noticed!
DeleteUnless you have watched her walk, you have no idea if she can walk in high heels. Every time these comments pop up, they sound more like the person commenting disapproves of high heels--and there are many. Low heels on a woman of Maxima's age look a little frumpy. Comments that she does not look elegant can be attributed to the fact that she does not wear elegant clothes very often. Her clothes are constantly stiff, eccentric, too tight, and made from odd fabrics--then over accessorized. None of that says elegant. She rarely dresses her body to accentuate her assets and disguise her problem areas. Lastly, she is not a petite woman. It can be harder to appear elegant when she is a larger than life character.
DeleteMaxima's hair and makeup look flawless, gorgeous! So happy to see this! As for the dress, its not her worst, not her best, IMO. But her beauty look just makes her shine!

I agree. Not one of her best style looks (the skirt is too wide, like a poodle skirt), but her smile and perfect hair and makeup are fabulous.

I agree. In addition I like her skirt's fabric.
DeleteThank you, Chel. Was trying to find something positive to say about Maxima's skirt --it's not her worst will do me. Actually, I quite like the fabric anyway but the silhouette is not to my taste. Hair is great and she looks really lovely in these photos. It's always good to see the two queens "on duty" together.
ReplyDeleteLovely color, fabrics, hair, make-up, jewelry, purse and Cinderella shoes! Just too much outfit - if the big bow, big sleeves then narrow the skirt. If the big skirt, scale back the top. It gives me the old impression of the outfit wearing her or a little girl in someone bigger' clothes.

Princess Beatrice looks lovely - great color, jewelry all over wonderful. So good to see her.
ReplyDeleteGlo
she looks like a lampshade with a Maxibow
ReplyDeleteShe must have been joking :-))
ReplyDeleteBlouse and skirt are not bad - separately. Each combined with something very different. Dark pencil skirt for the blouse, a simple top to go with the skirt. The look is a complete antithesis to Queen Maxima's usual style.

I agree with you, Ann, that the blouse, which makes a strong statement, needs to be paired with a simple, narrow skirt.
DeleteCan't think of many tops that would coordinate successfully with this very unusual skirt. I've admired the blouse on Maxima before -- think it is absolutely gorgeous -- but it is, shall we say, an assertive piece and works best with a skirt and shoes that are rather toned down. However, this is, overall, a nice look -- helped by neatly styled hair and lowkey makeup, jewelry and clutch.
DeleteI think Máxima is in general always overdressed. Here she is presenting a prize. Why wearing a kind of cocktail dress with very shiny shoes. It is too much of everything. The former queen looks elegant and well dressed for this occasion. Annal
ReplyDeleteVery true
DeleteI love this on Q. Max. Yes the blouse is big and pouffy. Yes the skirt is big and pouffy. But the monochrome colour scheme makes it work for me. This is “refined exuberance” and I think it suits this gregarious Queen very well. Oh, and her hair is excellent too. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you (Judy).
DeleteGreat hair & lovely shoes. The outfit, too much of everything as usual.

Jolies couleurs dans la toilette de Maxima mais je préfère celles de la princesse Beatrix pour une personne de son âge avec de beaux bijoux assortis !!!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit, no, not something I would expect to see on her, the hair was nicely done.
ReplyDeleteBoth Royal ladies look great. Love Pss Beatrix this suit and the pearl look stunning.Maxima's up do looks great.
ReplyDeleteSometimes less is just better! Stay focused on the cause and not the people. Some of Maxima's outfits just scream --- "look at me", rather than to place the emphasis on the cause she supports.
ReplyDeleteI like it! The nude colour ensures that the design does not overpower the overall look.
