Si l’ourlet était rond ,j’adorerais cet ensemble; la reine Maxima a entendu nos critiques sur ses cheveux ,malheureusement cela la vieillit un peu ,ce n’est pas grave ,elle est belle .

ReplyDeleteEnough of the uneven hems, enough of the jacket-as-cape look. The jacket worn like that is tolerable if outside just briefly, but indoors, and on a stage while awarding (or receiving?) a prize, this is bad.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric of this combination has potential, and I even like the idea of a nice two piece dress with an A-line skirt part. Whether a coat or jacket of the same fabric is a good idea though, I don´t know.
Agree completely!
DeleteAgree, covered the best part of the dress too.

Mir gefällt der Stoff, daraus hätte man so tolle Sachen schneidern können!
ReplyDeleteWell done Maxima!

Like the outfit just not the hem. Her hairstyle great.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Everything else is such a nice improvement that I can live with the uneven hem line.
DeleteWhile this is better than some, I will be so happy when the asymmetrical hem line is out of fashion. In my opinion, only the 5th photo (where she is entering the building) and the last two featuring Queen Maxima from the waist up are flattering.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks great . I like this Natan outfit , the shoes and the earrings of the same color. Her hair also good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice look for Queen Maxima..was my first thought until I saw the skirt. A big no for me, and why does she not put her Jacket on? The red shoes are a nice finish to this otherwise monochrome look, and her Hair is done very nice. Overall a good Outfit, except for the zigzag skirt.
ReplyDeleteExactly the same thoughts : What A surprisingly good classical ( unusual )look for M. ( at last..!) until you See the skirt: What A pity!
DeleteAgree entirely with both of you.
DeleteWe can thank the third Mrs Trump for the shoulder-robbing trend, as she became famous, so did her show offs with a variety of coats during electoral campaigns and subsequently as First Lady. And she keeps wearing them indoors.
ReplyDeleteAs to the uneven hemlines, they’re everywhere on catwalks. Which isn’t to say they look good. Rather on the contrary. But there is something of an obsession with these across designers.
Maxima’s hair looks particularly good like this, and the above rumblings about hemlines notwithstanding, I like the idea of a dress with a coordinating coat. The wool fabric and colour are very nice and season appropriate. She gets a B+ from me today for her outfit overall. And an A+ for using her Financial Acumen for such good causes.

I am so glad that someone mentioned that it is First Lady Melania Trump who has popularized the look of a coat worn this way -- thank you, Lily! (I think it's a very nice look, although not everyone shares that opinion.)
DeleteJane, I have seen ladies wearing a coat drapped over shoulders off and on for many years. I, also, am a fan, in most places, except at a podoium and when making presentations. Too easy to slip off when congratulating honorees.
DeleteQueen Máxima usually wears her coats over shoulders off. I think she doesn't follow anyone's trend, it's just her personal way. MVP
DeleteIf you look at the gentleman in pic #2 on the right side, his facial expression tells it all: "did they run out of material for the skirt?" :-)) - I like everything except the hemline, the dress is very well fitted, beautiful colour and pattern, a nice ensemble and - it works without chunky jewellery.

Totally agree -- imo this would be a superb outfit if it were not for that dreadful hemline :-(
DeleteI have to laugh at the 2nd photo comment. Totally appropriate to say. :) The hem line is horrid, the 'cape' over the shoulders very unprofessional, at least the hair looked better than normal.
DeleteI like the outfit. But the jacket over the shoulders look is not good, it looks sloppy.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, the good points - it’s a monochromatic, well fitting outfit with interesting red accessories. I really like it until we see the hemline, which is clumsy and distracting. Why oh why would a designer suggest this for a Queen??? (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThere are uneven hemlines and uneven hemlines, this is about the worst I've seen, pity, because the fabric is rather elegant, and it could have had potential. I truly think that she needs to invest in good supporting brassieres, her bust line spoils most dresses. I do like the choice of shoes, and her hair looks nice.
ReplyDeleteTake a long look at the lady with the ankle boots in the 5th and 6th picture.... She represents the average Dutch woman’s dress sense. And that explains why the average Dutch woman finds Maxima the epithome of chic and elegance........ (not me though; Maxima is not a woman with inborn elegance)

No me gusta el conjunto la parte superior la queda estrecha, la falda como los vestidos de este tipo tampoco me agradan los bajos con piquitos,el pelo recogido pero mal peinado, no es favorecedor y añade años.
ReplyDeleteI really love this check but why for god‘s sake this hemline? It could be that Nathan wanted to give the dress a special twist, but he definitely failed. … Nice hairstyle today
