Queen Letizia received an award for her struggle against violence

On November 26, 2019, Queen Letizia received “Award of the Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence 2019”, in the category "Most outstanding personality", at the headquarters of the General Council of the Judiciary in Madrid. The Queen was deemed worthy of the award for her commitment in the struggle against domestic and gender violence and the support she provided to the victims. The Observatory against domestic and gender violence plays an effective role in analysing the response of the justice system to this criminal phenomenon. The General Council of the Judiciary is the constitutional body that governs all the Judiciary of Spain.

  1. The way the King looks at the Queen - swoon - if a picture is worth 1000 words then this one radiates love. DMP

  2. Congratulations to Queen Letizia for this outstanding award. I like her dress, but wish she had added a brooch. Her hair and makeup are perfect. I love the photos showing King Felipe presenting her with the award. Very sweet.

    1. Brooches are not on fashion, it is a very outdated thing for old women. Only Queen Sofía,wears them and she is 81 years old. Here thing sounds every day more outdated. I do not know anyone wearing those things, she only has worn one at military events.

    2. I thought the same, I know she prefers a lie key look, but I do miss a brooch or something to be added at this dress, the rest as usual: prefect

    3. ¿Quien dice que los broches no están de moda? ¿Y quien dice que son para ancianas?
Abre revistas internacionales de moda y joyas y verás que están muy de moda.

    4. I think I read somewhere that Queen Letizia purposefully wears high street clothing and minimal jewelry so as to not seem extravagant given Spain's economic situation. I'm sure most people would like to wear watches or jewelry. Seems like she's conscious about optics.

    5. Si, seguro que vas a trabajar y todo el mundo en la oficina lleva un broche. Letizia esta trabajando y da una imagen de mujer trabajadora en un evento feminista y moderna a favor de la mujer, para las mujeres jóvenes como yo. No con broches.

    6. Her dress and general soberness style are quite appropriate for the event and the stance she adopted in her speech (defense of women suffering from violence). In such a case body language is more important than pure fashion aspects.

  3. I am sorry but I do find these awards and prizes quite ridiculous. Letizia, Mathilde, Abdullah, all receiving prizes and rewards for their extreme efforts.......really, it is their job to support good causes. Normal people who work all their lives under difficult conditions never get an award.

    2. I totally agree with you, we present them with awards for doing the job they are highly paid to do!!

    3. You can see other people in this event with the same prize,so they are getting their due appreciation. Also, let's say if being a computer engineer is my job and I do it well, don't you think I should be recognised and rewarded because "it is my job"?

    4. True. I don't totally disagree with you. However, she could have just sat at home with her feet up and ate bon-bons but she didn't. She brought, and brings, attention to a worthy cause.

And, I agree with a previous post; the dress is nice but it needs a little something - a brooch, scarf with a pop of color, something.

    6. Lily T., there is really something to it! That's why royals are funded by the taxpayer. To represent a country, it's culture and people - and to support worthy causes.

    7. Agree and there are a lot of normal people who have a job (not only nine to five) and do volonteer work as well. Mars

    8. Lily T. Watched the event. She dedicated the award to the 52 women who have been killed so far this year, (more than one per week!) the children who have also been killed or orphaned, and the people who work to put an end to the violence. It should be noted that there are schools, hospitals, universities, and roads named after other members of the family, and paid public officials, a much more prominent and lasting 'award'. Ana.

    9. Thank you Ana for bringing that information.

    10. Her speech has been very brave because there is a new extreme right wing party that denies the gender violence. So someone as the Queen is necessary to point out things.

    12. Thank you, Ana. This is a symbolic award… for a symbolic person. Representative monarchies are nothing else today: Representing the state in such matters, drawing attention to important things. This is a tough job sometimes and no reason to be jealous.

    3. @11:56 52 women have been killed this year. This does not include the ones who were hurt or the children who were also killed or hurt. Have You understood the event?? Look closely at all the women you meet because there are 5 weeks left in the year, and the statistics say that violence will claim the life of one or more every week for the rest of 2019. -A-

  7. To me, this is a great award for anyone. Hold their feet to the fire. If the judiciary doesn;t try to protect the victims of domestic violence, let them be held accountable. G

  8. Fantastic look, and very appropriate for the occasion. I like the simplicity, no extra jewelry/ bling. The appearance doesn't call for it. Her hair and makeup are flawless as usual. The silhouette the dress looks wonderful on her.

The Queen looks beautiful. Love this coat dress, very smart, accessories perfect choice.. Yes a brooch would have been nice. They definitely are not for older people, they are a lovely jewellery accessory. I wear them a lot with scarfs.

  12. No me parece el lugar ideal para hablar de ciertos temas, la ropa, el peinado son comentarios que no molestan a nadie, dar nuestra opinion sobre la manera que tienen de presentarse, vestirse, me parece aqui es perfecto.
