The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge currently make an official visit to Pakistan that takes place between October 14 and 18 at the request of The Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This is the first official visit of The Duke and Duchess to Pakistan. On October 14, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a bespoke outfit by Catherine Walker. |
That first picture is incredible!
ReplyDeleteAgree! Like taken from a movie!
DeleteExactly what I thought! A wonderful look, everything is on point. Beautiful colour, exquisite tailoring, her hair and jewelry... wow.
DeleteAmazing! Really looking forward to the rest of their tour!
Absolutely stunning! The Duchess' ensemble is a great example of dressing to honor the culture you are visiting in a stylish but modest manner. Her dress (with leggings) are perfect in fit and style, and the color is gorgeous. Her earrings are extraordinary. I also love the outfit of the lady in red and white. Great beginning to their trip.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the shoes go very well with the outfit, which is beautiful. I think a nice sandal would have been better.
ReplyDeleteLizzie you are right about the shoes.

Agree with your thought on the shoes. The dress is splendid, but the shoes are just not quite right, maybe a kitten heal, as they are called would have looked better.... JR
DeleteBeautiful outfit, terrible shoe selection. But I’d say overall a good initial showing. Hopefully the desire to understand local traditions (and not selectively picking some but completely dismissing the others) will yield better results for footwear next time. This dress/trousers combination is elegant and so appropriate that it makes the particular shoes look even more at odds with everything. If they were part of a ‘so-so’ outfit, perhaps they wouldn’t be so jarringly bad.
DeleteI also like the idea of having the jewelry coordinated but not competing for attention. That makes for a good day time look (if we could just ignore the feet...).

I do not see a problem with the shoe. Women of this region sometimes wear shoes of this kind (not that culturally-sensitive dressing requires being a copy-cat). A sandal - jeweled or otherwise - would have distracted from the beautiful ombre coloring. -Rosa Bianca
DeleteAbsolutely superb. What a beautiful colour. Also the dress is beautifully fitted rather than the traditional shalwar Jameel so looks wonderful on the Duchess. Love the earrings again. The whole outfit is just perfection.
ReplyDelete* kameez (bizarre auto correct. Sorry)
DeleteOne word: stunning!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Simply perfect!
DeleteI agree with you both. Simple and stunning. Agree about the shoes too. Her makeup is perfect, not overdone and I love her earrings they blend nicely with the dress.
DeleteAgree...outstanding...beautiful...
DeleteBeautiful color and the ombre effect looks fabulous. Love her earrings. Per my taste, the top could be a few inches shorter so we could see more of the pants.
ReplyDeleteE.B.B.
Agree with you E.B.B.
DeleteI agree that the dress is a beautiful take on the Shalwar Kameez, the national dress of Pakistan, worn by women (and men, in which case the top or kameez is a long shirt with or without a collar similar to a 'kurta'). The colour is stunning and the faded dye effect particularly lustrous on the Duchess and her lighter coloured hair.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the shoes should have been jewelled high heeled sandals. The neck detail resembling a dupatta (shawl) is inspired. A beautiful and respectful arrival in her host country. Nicely done!

Nice dress, wrong shoes.
ReplyDeleteSo perfect in every way. A very exciting entrance indeed.

Kate is a knockout! Catherine Walker's take on a shalwar kameez is perfection. The drape in front and back, the covered buttons up the lower half of the arm, and the subtle ombre are all details that make this simple looking dress sophisticated elegance. The silhouette of the dress remains true to Kate, and the addition of the pants work in seamlessly. The I love the Zeen ($10) earrings that compliment her outfit so beautifully. Again, she is honoring of her host country and wearing accessories from a Pakistani company. I am looking forward to seeing what else she has planned to wear on this trip.
ReplyDeleteThis is as good as it gets, the color is so beautiful and even more with the ombré effect, the idea of the collar also reminds us of the national dress, what a thoughtful idea, with great results. I would also have paired it with sandals , and left the clutch behind, it adds nothing but distraction, but for me this outfit is close to a 10.
ReplyDeleteBTW, The duchess looks radiant. I am loving this hair.
She looks good, but too flashy for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean she's too flashy? She arrives in Pakistan by wearing a dress that respects their culture. Do you expect her to wear jeans and a t-shirt on the arrival. I hope you have this same energy for other royal ladies who arrives in different countries for their visits.
DeleteAlors là, sa tenue est magnifique dans une couleur qui lui va superbement bien... Très bien maquillée comme d'habitude... Je craque pour ses boucles d'oreilles !!!
ReplyDeleteDuchess Catherine looks beautiful .
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, but it doesn´t look quite right.
ReplyDeleteEither lose the leggings, or choose flat shoes (ballerinas or sandals).
I agree that the first photo is stunning.
Wow, this is perfection. The colour of the dress, in various shades, the collar, the leggings, the earrings... It looks stylish, but also very comfortable! (except maybe for the stilettos, but you can't get it all...)

ReplyDeleteI don't really like the style of this outfit. The colour combine to material looks cheap. The shape of the dress does not fit well with trousers and flat shoes had been much better.
ReplyDeleteBut I like a lot Kate's new hair style. - siri
This is a beautiful outfit. The draping of the neckline front and back adds softness, the buttons on the sleeves finish the outfit off perfectly. The colour is stunning. The flow and fall of the dress on movement is spot on. The Duchess looks fantastic.
