| On October 31, 2019, Queen Maxima attended the award ceremony of Prix de Rome Visual Art 2019 at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. This year's awardee is Rory Pilgrim and was announced by Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Ingrid van Engelshoven and she has presented the award to Rory Pilgrim. The purpose of the award is to discover talented artists and to promote their development and visibility. For Prix de Rome 2019, the Mondriaan Fund works together with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Woo hoo. Back to over-the-top Maxima and I love it. One can criticise the big hat or the lace dress for daytime but I think the whole outfit is great even the coat worn without sleeves, one of my usual pet dislikes. However, I'm really not sure about the strange tasselly belt, which doesn't appear on the model's dress. Don't think it adds anything to the outfit

ReplyDeleteA little too monochromatic, and it's not that flattering to her hips, but not a totally bad look. I think the look with the coat is the best.

DeleteI don't see why she had to borrow the curtain tie backs for her waist. It looks odd on a lace dress. If she had to have them they would have gone better aound her hat brim.

I agree, but the colour is beautifull to her. Helas, the skirt is too long, and the more than beautifull cape is not for this occasion.

DeleteWhat exactly is appropriate for this occasion? Please post a picture of you choice, derived from your closet and shoe collection and hat collection to see if you have better choices. It must be in color,fitted to you, not repeated, and acceptable to everyone on this board. Go for it.

Love the whole ensemble - colour, lace dress, hat, cape, shoes. It all looks great and she carries it well. Very nice.

DeleteEach of the parts (hat, Cape, dress) are great but the combination is not good. The Cape and hat would be better with a dark straith dress. The dress would be better with a smaller hat and a simple jacket.

ReplyDeleteReally like the outfit. The combined dress and coat and hat ist perfection. Without the coat the hat is a bit too much. And the tassel/belt thingy is just not necessary. The dress stands for itself without that. Christine

The Queen looks lovely, not one of my favourite dresses, lace is very dense, but it is okay. I would ditch the belt. Love the accessories, choice of shoes and bag, finishing touch her gloves. The coat wins me over though it is divine, love the colour, pure class.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so good in monochrome dressing. You can appreciate each piece without your eye jumping all over. Sometimes her outfits are so exuberant that they distract from HER. This does not. When I look at the pictures I see her face and smile first, then the outfit. Well done Queen M. (V.M.)
