In the evening, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands attended a reception held for the Dutch community in India at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai and then made a short visit to the Gateway of India, which was illuminated with a Dutch scene. Queen Maxima wore a new print linen dress by Zimmermann. |

Dear, dear maxima, The chignon du cou works. The dress is nice but its not the right fit for Maxima. She makes a B line for anything that is big, large and oversized. Being that she is a tall big boned lady she just does not understand most of her fashion choices are more flops than hits. If she would wear more tailored simple lines she wouldn't look so large and towering. . I would feel intimidated being in a room with her especially if I were petit in size. No matter how many fashion faux pas she is a lovely lady. Urgent! hire a stylist ASAP!
ReplyDeleteAt last someone who sees it as I do: Thank you!
DeleteLooking tall is no faux pas, especially when you are tall!
DeleteNow this is an appropriate outfit. The hair is well done, no weird hat, or strange jewelry, the shoes and bag compliment the outfit. The only quibble is those shiny stockings, very outdated and the wide light colored stripe on the sleeve could have been left off, and the dress much prettier. However, this is a vast improvement from the last few days.... JT
ReplyDeleteGreat day! After the very nice Stephanie, Maxima is wonderful as well! Love her hair!! Yes more of this!!
DeleteAaaaah, lovely. So pretty, so uncluttered, so not bewildering in any way. More of this, please!! (And I want that dress.)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great dress and Maxima wears it well. The color and print are fantastic on her and I love the 70s style. I am so happy she didn't over embellish with gaudy earrings, and her hair is giving me a 70s feel with the center part and softer sides. I don't often wish Maxima will rewear her clothes, but this one is a keeper.
ReplyDeleteI love the chignon with a center part. The earrings work with the dress and her hairstyle. I think the bell on the sleeve could be taken in a little bit but otherwise love the dress.

It's great that Queen Maxima tried this oriental-styled dress. She looked demure.

I am not sure if I like this dress or not, as it gives me @The little house on the prairie@ vibes. Art the same time, the colour and print is really lovely on Maxima. I think that another kind of fabric would have been better, something a bit more flowing.
ReplyDeleteAgree, this dress reminds me as well on "little house.." and as on others this looks matronly.
DeleteNow this looks far better than the last few outfits. She looks brushed and polished witout being too formal. Her warm personality shines through. I could have done without the bow at the waist. I agree that tailored simple lines suit her far better but at the same time she can look fantastic in some of her very offbeat clothes (if you analyse them they may be offbeat but are usually the ver simple ones. I think it is fantastic to be so tall and don't see why one should want to underplay it.
ReplyDeleteAgree totally. It’s quite ok for a woman to be tall and have big bones (or wide shoulders — cf. Charlene), no need to hide it. As it is quite ok for a woman to be petite as well, no need to hide that either. A nice dress with some oriental vibes in the fabric, although it would perhaps look even better as a long dress.
DeleteA.K.
Agree, well said Anon 1:48 PM.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note (nothing to do with fashion, but with protocol): The hosts got the hashtag projected to the building right, saying #NLINDIA but not the text before it: it should always mention the guest nation first and then the host nation. "Celebrating friendship between The Netherlands and India" would have been correct, instead.
ReplyDeleteI really like this dress on her and her hair is beautiful. Much better as yesterday. I coul'd wear this dress myself, the color and the pattern are very beautiful. Looks like Maxima has two sides, a lady and that other one...
ReplyDeleteOh Maxima, I'm so happy with this! It is very appropriate for the occasion, the color is lovely and fit is great. The hair and makeup just make the whole look beautiful, she looks pulled together.

ReplyDeleteI like this outfit, apart from the stockings, I would go bare legged. She does so in summer in NL why not in India?
ReplyDeleteMuy guapa , por fin se ha quitado el sombrero y va bien peinada.
ReplyDeleteLike some of the other posters, I’m not at all sure about this dress. I do agree about the shiny tights but wonder if these might be heavy duty support tights, understandable given the amount of time Queen Maxima is on her feet. It’s difficult to get these in non shiny styles. Maybe she just likes them. The hair is good and tidy but there’s something not quite right about the dress. There is too much material in it, making the shirt bulky and matronly, the top needs a collar or a different style of some kind to stop it being overly prim. Compared to the youthful, well fitted blue dress she wore yesterday, this is a miss for me.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is much better than the last few days. The Queen carries it off well, with her height, the colour is very becoming on her.
