On October 4, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited Orihuela city of Alicante region and Los Alcazares town of Murcia region to see in situ the damages caused by the recent floods that occured after the episode of heavy rains in these regions. On September 23, the King and Queen had visited the areas affected by the fires of Gran Canaria and on September 27, the King and Queen had visited the municipality of Arganda del Rey affected by the floods. Queen Letizia wore a new silk top by Hugo Boss. |
Letizia looks nice, but the outfit would have looked better with heels,OMO.
ReplyDelete@7:28, wearing flats is intentional and appropriate, they are visiting with the people that have lost so much during the fires and floods, this act doesn't require glamour, and that is why she is dressed accordingly.
DeleteShe looks fine, no fashion statements here. My condolences to the people of Spain that have lost do much this year.
No heels visiting a place devastated by the floods and greeting people the whole day, firts in Alicante, then in Murcia.
DeleteThanks Cherry!! 6 persons have died...RIP..
DeleteShe cannot be overly formal for the reasons mentioned by others but, there are pictures of them standing on a beach as part of this visit. She cannot win. The experts were aghast when she wore heels to see the vegetable garden at the White House, now this. B.
DeleteIt is obvious that this blog cannot concentrate exclusively on fashion and style!! circumstances need to be taken into whenever needed.
DeleteOf course she wears flats, heals on the beach would be stupid
DeleteI am afraid her trousers shrank very badly in the wash!
ReplyDeletenalerina, actually it's a trend, I highly recommend that you check it out, if only because you are commenting on a fashion blog. Perhaps you don't like this style? I get it".....
DeleteBianca
I think all bloggers on this site should pay a minimum of attention to trends yes indeed. I was first wondering whether the shrinkage comment was a joke (not such a good one), but could it be that it was not?
DeleteI have made remarks before on taking the time to do a little research before commenting if there is something you don't understand. At the very least, read the above description of the event.
DeleteI agree with MaryT that the people commenting here should try to pay a little attention to the current fashion trends before making ignorant comments. Firstly, this is a place to comment on fashion. There is a big difference between what you would personally wear and what looks good on another person for the event, how the garment fits, what colors look good on each person, which silhouettes work best for body type, and what is in style/on trend. It doesn't matter if I would wear Letizia's outfit or not, she is on trend and dressed appropriately. Her clothes should not be the focus of the visit.
In the same way that I do not like to comment on funeral attire, I don't think this is a moment to focus on the fashion, much less make a joke. This was a somber visit.
PERFEKT - schon wieder! Dieses Mal ein bisschen legerer. Ich liiieeebe diese Hose/Culotte zusammen mit den Flats und dem Blüschen.
ReplyDeleteSimple and chic.
ReplyDeleteI think the same.
ReplyDeleteTous ces messieurs sans cravates ! Quelle décontraction!
ReplyDelete6 people died because of the floods, I do not understand what you meant...
DeleteMerci Anon10:40!
DeleteEverything was going pretty well until we got to her feet! :-O
ReplyDeleteThis look is so out of place for our Lettie I'm wondering if maybe she has/had some sort of foot ailment and couldn't wear the shoes intended for the outfit.
Europa
Out of place?? 6 people have died because of the floods and they are visiting the devastated area, many people have list her house, animals, plants, food....I do not know what kind of persons there are in this blog..
DeleteWho care for the shoes or the clothes??
She was walking on the beach an unpaved places....heels are very appropiate...
DeleteI am as well at a loss of understanding several comments today. Is Euopa's comment really meant?
DeleteI agree. Mary, that I do not understand some of the comments but I am concerned that there are so many people who seem to be looking for a reason to be offended. The flat shoes don't look great BUT they are a sensible choice for this particular visit. The abbreviated trousers are not, in my opinion, a flattering look on anyone (and they do indeed look as if they might have been full length and shrunk in the wash), BUT they are a fashion trend and worn by many of the royals. Personally, I still don't like them. Any of us who read/watch news items will know about the devastation in Spain and the resultant loss of life. It would be very strange if we did not feel compassion for the families and communities concerned. Of course, what is worn does not matter in comparison. However, the fact remains that this is a fashion blog and the purpose is to comment on what is worn on the occasions which are posted. I have read back through the comments again and cannot see the problem.
Delete@ MaryT. Europa's style and nickname for the queen has it's origins elsewhere. The comments do not need to have an underlying source in fashion, or even the humanity of the occasion. Negative is their specialty. M.
DeleteLettie?? Do you have nicknames for all the Royals or only for HRH Doña Letizia?? As far as I know you are not so close.
DeleteIn any case it would be Leti...."Lettie" in Spanish is not pronounced that way...
On the Spanish magazines sites they critique her constantly and for everything. They are very negative ! All without reason , she dresses beautifully and promotes Spanish fashion always .
DeleteWell, lately they are not criticising so much....it seems that these visits have been welcomed.
DeleteAnnieM...if "Europa" was a Spaniard (as she meant to come across) she would have known it. Also she would not have written "Lettie"....as the pronunciation in English....
DeleteMany trolls lately..
Susana
Right outfit for the occasion- simple, clean lines. I like Felipe’s blazer and does his shirt have polka dots?
ReplyDeleteE.B.B
To Cherry Blossom @ 8:01 I stand corrected. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia nails it again. Beautiful and appropriate for the occasion. Touring an area that has been ravaged by floods, this outfit is perfect head to toe. Wearing heels would be silly (even though I'm among the crowd that feels you don't have to wear heels all the time anyway). The culottes are very much in fashion and look wonderful on her. Her minimalist, neutral looks have been a hit with me lately. Very easy to replicate, and very classy.
ReplyDeleteChel
It is great to see the King and Queen out and about supporting the people and touring the areas affected. Her outfit is a good choice and works very well for the occasion. Her flat shoes are the perfect choice.
