| On the evening of October 15, 2019, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa held a dinner at Grand Ducal Palace in honour of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie also attended the gala dinner. Belgian King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are making a 3 day state visit to Luxembourg on October 15-17. |
Wow! All the ladies are gorgeous, but I think Queen Mathilde's magenta gown, tiara, earrings and hair are spectacular. The Grand Duchess seems to be without an order, or, perhaps, it is hidden beneath her shawl. I don't think I've ever seen Duchess Stephanie more beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the simplicity of MT's green gown (the 4th green outfit on a Royal lady in 1 day!), especially the fine black check in the fabric.
Mathilde's dress is just too much...all that crystal crusting on the top AND loads of pleating. The dress looks much better when she is standing and the pleats are folded, than when she is sitting and they are all splayed out but it's still not to my style. However as I said in the beginning, they all look great together.

Oh. My. Goodness. I think I need time to compose myself -- what a heart-stopping megadose of splendor. How breathtakingly beautiful the ladies look, and how handsome the gentlemen in their uniforms and regalia. Mathilde is dazzling, Maria Teresa understatedly elegant -- and Stephanie, WOW. She is utterly magnificent, every inch the future Grand Duchess. I wish that whoever styled her for this occasion would take charge on a regular basis!

DeleteThe color of Mathilde's dress is fantastic and matches the Grand Duke's sash. The up close shot of Stephanie is gorgeous. Her hair and make-up look great. I love the earrings and tiara she choose but find her dress matronly. I feel a vibrant color would have looked beautiful with her jewelry.

While I can't comment on Stephanie's dress without getting a better look at it, her tiara and matching earrings are gorgeous and her hair and makeup are beautifully done. Simply put, she looks regal.

King Philippe's father king Albert is the brother of grand Duke Henri's mother grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte born princess of Belgium and of course Belgium and Luxembourg are neighbouring countries.

ReplyDeleteStephanie dyed her hair and eyebrows, didn't she? They are darker now, more brown than her own blond colour. The close-up photos of her are so beautiful. Very serene, an aristocratic beauty! Pity we can't see more of her dress; it has a Moroccan vibe over it, I think. ThdTcolour is a very light shade but she can pull it off.
ReplyDeleteMathilde looks wonderful; fantastic dress and great colour. For me, it's not too much. Her tiara is an eye-cather too, and very big compared to the other two tiaras.
Maria Teresa comes last here. Her green gown is beautiful but I don't like the scarf's she often wears over a dress. Just not my taste, I suppose. And I've never liked her new hairstyle, although it isn't new anymore. I liked her previous hairstyle more.
Do you think it is dyed? Probably it's just the light? But I am no expert in such things. Anyway she gorgeous!

DeleteIf my memory serves me right, Jean and Philippe are first cousins. I like Mathilde's earrings the best, but her gown, though lovely, has too much crystal. Stephanie's gown looks very fussy too, hard to judge tho..

DeleteI am not sure I have seen this tiara on Mathilde before, normally she only wears the lower part of it, or? In any case, she is bringing it on, full queen mode and I love it. Stephanie continues to have this rather sad and "get me out of here" look on her face, but she is beautifully coiffed and even if I am not a fan of her dress, she looks beautiful. I love MT earrings, beautiful!

ReplyDeleteMathilde's dress is fighting with her tiara for attention. While I love her tiara I think it was the wrong one to wear with this dress. Her dress would also have looked much much better if the heart shaped lining had just been straight across no heart shape. It is all too much - beads, heart, pleats,part lining part unlined. otherwise I think her dress was very nearly very beautiful indeed. The Grand duchess Always looks very elegant and well groomed. Do not like Stephanies dress on her but her makeup and hair look loverly

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't recognize Stephanie with this makeup and hairdo. She looks like another person completely, and very good, too. The caftan is wonderful but could be improved some by getting the sleeves and the lower part fitted better. It's too roomy on her. Her jewelry carries the colors nicely! The older women look so much more at ease in this situation. I hope she continues to "up her game."
ReplyDeleteWell, green was the colour of the day and no mistake! First Catherine, then Mathilde’s daytime outfit, then Meghan and finally Maria Teresa. All looked good, IMO, in a colour that can be hard to wear. Think all the ladies look fine here but I agree with EBB and Unknown that Stephanie’s dress is not particularly flattering. I also agree with Rosalyn that the scarf/wrap worn by Maria Teresa takes away from the overall look. While I do like her hairstyle for daytime events, it doesn’t show off a tiara well at all. Mathilde is the winner here for me by miles. Gorgeous dress, great hair, flawless makeup, amazing jewellery. Just fabulous.
