On October 7, 2019, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended a reception held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of La Grande Arche at La Défense in Paris. La Grande Arche de la Défense is a modern triumphal arch built at the end of the twentieth century in La Défense, Paris's modern business district. Construction started in 1984 and the arch was completed in 1989. Crown Princess Mary wore a new polka dot dress by BH - Black Halo. |
The thin red belt is really what makes this dress exquisite. Without it, it's only half as nice. Also, I think it's a bit long on Mary, it looks better a tad shorter (like on the model).
ReplyDeleteI agree. I have had a black polkadot dress for years. I always wear it with a thin red belt.
DeleteAgtee about the belt. But she still looks stunning, in my opinion! Simple but still a picture of elegance and sophistication.
DeleteWow! So simple, elegant and chic. The detail of this lovely dress is all in the neckline and Mary shows it off with style! Nothing needed around her neck. It's a perfect take of a LBD without being completely black; her decision to wear a black belt elevates it for evening wear. She couldn't look more perfect for a Paris soirée.

Totally agree ... marvelous look ...
DeleteFully agree, exquisite!!
DeleteAnother great choice. The fit is impeccable and the neckline is superb. It shows off her collarbone without Mary being overexposed. I prefer the models belt because it adds a little color to a black and white look.

I like the neckline too, but your comment made me have another look at her collarbone. And now I cannot help but think that maybe that neckline isn't all that attractive in her.
DeleteThe red belt is nice, but I would say it makes the outfit suitable for sunny summer day. This dark belt is much better for this kind of evening party. Love the dress and the whole appearance. -Siri
DeleteMary looks INCREDIBLE here. Immensely polished and elegant. -PJ
ReplyDeletePolished and elegant describe Mary perfectly. Completely agree with you.
DeleteMy goodness, she looks absolutely spectacular. International best dressed list for sure.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you Pasha Kitty . They are both very fit and elegant.
DeleteFrederik is bursting out of his suit
ReplyDeleteSimple, elegant and chic. Mary nails it again.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking couple! Would have liked to known what shawl she was carrying.... jt
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I think Mary has lost weight. Looking at these picture, I can see her little daughter in my mind ... She is the spitting image of her mother and will be (better said already is) as beautiful and attractive in the years to come ...
ReplyDeleteAlways dressed to perfection
ReplyDeleteIs the colour of the dress really black? It made me spontaneously think of Julia Roberts Polka-Dot-Dress in "Pretty Woman". Anyway Mary looks gorgeous as always!
ReplyDeleteI prefer Mary's belt as it is because it does not cut this heavenly dress in two. She is a dream in polka dots ... As for Frederick, I remember Mary's speech on his 50th birthday, she talked about him wearing very tight lycra - I think it was for cycling and she poked a little harmless fun on him. But I am sure Mary is clever enough not to criticise her husband for always wearing too tight jackets (he seems to like it like this :-)

Men, please cool it with the blue suits.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am at odds with almost everyone. She looks very good, but for an evening reception I find this dress particularly blah. It seems to me more appropriate for a summer evening out with friends. Not even required that it would be a dinner at a fancy restaurant. Given how many beautiful more formal dresses she already has in her wardrobe (I did a quick lookup through her previous looks and came up with at least 4-5), this particular dress does nothing for me. It is Paris after all and I admit I had high hopes for an outstanding repeat. Again, she looks nice, but whilst I appreciate ‘simple’, the impression I have is ‘rather boring and no pizzas whatsoever’. Hopefully next time!

I hope Prince Joachim and Prss Marie were somehow associated in events, they are now staying in Paris.
ReplyDeleteCP Mary looks stylish and oozes class. The dress is lovely, the polka dots are pretty, the perfect length and accompanying thin belt is the right choice. Her bag and shoes are spot on. Love the added touch of shawl. It would have been great to see it draped over her shoulders to have a visual of it. Her earrings are just enough. Her makeup natural and enhancing.
ReplyDeleteBezaubernd sieht Mary aus.
ReplyDeleteBlack Halo schneidert anscheinend traumhafte Kleider.

ReplyDeleteThis neckline looks sensational on CP Mary! And the print is always a classic.
ReplyDeleteChel
Great look once again on Mary.
ReplyDeleteSimple, classic, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove the polka dots, she looks amazing. - Capt. Marvel
