On October 24, 2019, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the American Chamber of Commerce's 20th Anniversary Gala at Moltkes Mansion in Copenhagen. The American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark is part of the global AmCham network and is accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. An independent jury has selected Amgen as the AmCham’s 2019 Foreign Company of the Year. (Crown Princess Mary wore a floral print silk crape gown by Erdem.) |
Oh my gosh, Mary looks so beautiful always. She is the best dressed of all the royals. Thank you for this blog, I read it every night and I'm learning so much about fashion. Carrie
ReplyDeleteYes why not! still not my favorite
ReplyDeleteAlways very well dressed, I agree..... but there is something smug about her as well, something that I do not find appealing....
ReplyDeleteLily T.
Agree. She 'works' hard, is always on show, so to speak, that must be boring some time.
DeleteThat is not what I mean..., she makes the impression of being very pleased with herself. That stands for the not very attractive appearances in spite of her impeccable dress sense (or that of her stylist) glossy hair, perfect make up and so on. I cannotvwarm to her.
DeleteLily T.
I quite understood what you meant , Lily T. I simply put it in other words. I sometimes think that she is very proud of herself for having snagged a prince, although it is said that Frederik introduced himself as "I'm Fred". She is a very accomplished person professionally, and I sometimes feel she is far above her husband in knowledge
DeleteLove is not how you were introduced or not introduced. It´s your inner personal soul which says "yes" and yes we live in a age of nacrissm, hers is obvious and his isn´t. I can only think of one Princess who isn´t appropriate in this agesense and this is Princess Charlene.
DeleteRoyalty fan
DeleteAnon 12:39, I disagree with you, Mary is a beautiful, spontaneous lady, very hard working, always dressed appropriate. And now, she can stand in for HM, at event's. So I don't agree with your "smug," and I think she is very down-to-earth, and a very approachable person. I once read, that she's very popular, in Denmark.
Agree with Royalty fan. Mary gives an example of how a modern crown princess should be. (But of course everybody has the right to say what they think.)
DeleteMary is very in love with herself, and that is a fact.
DeleteI am not so shore that she shows her self many times, more acting a role, but she is very, very good at it.Fredrik will take more place one day and I wonder how hard Mary will fall when she is not number one.
@Mina: if this is a fact would you be so kind a share your research material with us.
DeleteThank you!
Always very well dressed, I agree..... but there is something smug about her as well, something that I do not find appealing....
ReplyDeleteLily T.
Agree, sometimes I get that feeling, so is Queen Letizia. Well, they are beautiful and know it. They are both "perfect" and I guess it's easy to put up a facade when you are not born into royalty and might lack self confidence. Maybee I would do the same. One cannot judge after just seeing photos. Liz H.
DeleteMary looks stunning!
ReplyDeleteAs always, very elegant! The right combination between dress and accessories! I'm not an Erdem fan, but really like this dress!
ReplyDeleteAs CP Mary is the only female in the photos we see, naturlly, she has to win the prize. And she wins it well.
ReplyDeleteBut CP Frederik needs to urgently get the phone number of the tailor of his cousin Prince Daniel of Sweden. CP Frederik can say "my tailor is rich" but that's about all that can be noted of him. Prince Daniel's suits are always a perfection.
Love this dress with its floral print and the sinuous curves of the vines. The black belt/sash accentuates her small waist. I like that her hair matches the color of the flowers in the gown, and that her hair does not hide her gorgeous earrings.
ReplyDeleteMary always so warm and interested in her work. It’s never about her which I admire. She wears this lovely dress to perfection.
Deleteoh sorry, I meant of course ....dress.
ReplyDeleteLove both the dress and her, before and now.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:13
Great look for the CPss.
ReplyDeleteAs usual Crown Princess Mary looks beautiful. In answer to Lily T, I don't think she is the slightest bit smug--she always looks groomed, neat and attractive (lots of similarities with the Duchess of Cambridge) She has a quietly confident smile as she goes about her duties but I don't think it is at all self satisfied. Like most of the hard working royals, she goes about her duties without complaint and with real interest in the people she is visiting. She doesn't bore us by too much about herself which is to be admired rather than criticised. Certainly one of my favourite royals.
ReplyDeleteWell, this certainly has to do with the battle within myself. I like to look at the fashion choices these royals make on the one hand. On the other hand I think that these socalled royals are useless, despite the efforts their PR people are making to let them look hard working (really....), accomplished and doing intelligent work for the UN and so on. Everything to hide that they are just normal people who happen to be overpriveleged just by birth.
DeleteLily T.
Lily, I don't think they are "useless". Especially in a time of global changes a lot of people like to stick to their tradition. It has to do with values and identity, I think. The royals' job is to represent this. And Mary, especially as a foreigner who had to learn the language and the tradition of "her" new country, fulfills this role perfect. And: she was not overprivileged by birth!
DeleteCoralie, she is overprivileged now simply by marrying someone who is this by birth. They have not accomplished anything in their own right, yet they are wearing all kinds of medals and receiving all kinds of decorations.... for doing what? Smiling, showing up when booked, wearing nice clothes and reading speeches someone else has written.... yet they are treated everywhere as,if they are beyond normal people.
DeleteAnd on top of all this, paid for all these shallow ‘jobs’ excessively by the tax payers...
Lily T.
Agree with Lily.
Delete@Lily. Without the Queen I wouldn't give the UK a fig. So, yes, I think some royals are worth it and CP Mary certainly is one of them. She is smart, beautiful, blessed with a handsome husband and 4 lovely children. She works hard, believe me, she does. You call her behaviour smug, I call your writing driven with envy. Pour you!
Delete@ Lily. You have a point. Mary 'works hard' is proof that her PR is excellent. Every compliment also parrots these two words (posts on this page), but no one follows it up by saying what she does. All that anyone can rely on are the PR articles or tabloids. Like all royals she shows up after others have done the work and cuts ribbons, gives prizes (to people who are actually highly intelligent) and reads speeches, with a crowd already in place to cheer. -Mia
DeleteI LOVE Erdem! The brand is controversial but that's exactly what I like here. Great outfit. Frieda
ReplyDeleteThe dress doesn't suit her at all! She must have a slender waist. I can't see her waist curve at all!
ReplyDeleteVery bust Pss. Love her look again today.
ReplyDeleteVery busy Pss. Love her look again today.
ReplyDeleteCP Mary looks beautiful. Love this outfit, very feminine looking. I have to disagree with the smug comments. What you see is a confident woman, nothing smug about her at all. She is very relatable and natural, and highly intelligent. Her work ethic is much admired, she gets on with the job, zero fuss. Her enthusiasm and interest she shows in her work shines through, Always looks immaculately dressed. A wonderful warm mother and a great asset to her husband. She has never put a foot wrong in all these years, has carried herself with dignity and grace. We in Australia are extremely proud of her.
ReplyDeleteYou and every one else do not now if she is good or bad in privacy.Denmark has a low profile against Mary and Fredrik, but there are rumors that she is not the only one in his life.
DeleteRumours that she is not the only one in his life? I don't know if that is true and to be honest, I can't imagine any man to be so silly and foolish to cheat on a woman like Mary. But if so, he isn't suitable to be a king, is he?? She should kick him in the a.. then! He should go and she should be queen anyway, even if he is the "born" royal. In times of genderequality, why not? Ladies, let's start a Revolution, right here on Hellens blog - if Fred cheats on Mary, we want HER on the throne!
Delete@Coralie, please, repeating rumors is tasteless. The rumors are not visible in the pictures that go with the article. Scaling the wall of decency to peer into the couple's personal life is not a public sport, but more in line with being a peeping Tom-Mia
DeleteMia, I was answering to Mina!
DeleteThat makes your post Okay,..I guess. - Mia.
