On the evening of September 10, 2019, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia attended the concert of Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at Stockholm Concert Hall. The concert was given on the occasion of the opening of 2019 working year of the Parliament. Members of the Parliament and other guests attended the concert. Crown Princess Victoria wore a new metallic masterpiece dress by Maria Westerlind. |
That’s an ugly, matronly looking dress Victoria is wearing.
ReplyDeleteMoche de chez moche
DeleteVery different choice in style, but Victoria's dress is in the same style, length and small belt that in fact everyone has one of …… I think, Victoria's dress is more dressy than for example those with V-neck and the fabric in nicely pattern (in close up) !
DeleteSofia's jacket really nice tailored.
Julie
@ Julie, >>that in fact everyone has one of << No! I don't, and I am quite a few years older than Victoria, and - heaven help - I will never wear one of these mumsy dresses, not when I am eighty years old. Victorias mother is almost eighty and doesn't wear them. Why would anybody when there are so much better choices?
DeleteP.S. Sophie Wessex wears them all the time and it is never a winner.
Victoria got it all wrong here. If - for this occasion - she wanted to go for somewhat edgy and discolike with a shimmering fabric and the pink highheels and purse, she shoud have gone the whole way with a tailored minidress....She has the figure to wear this. But with a cut like this it is a big miss. The dress looks plain ugly even on the model.
@Beth: sehr klug! Fashion Victim...
DeleteBeth - you´re exactly right. She needed a tailored minidress to go with the pink shoes and bag. The fabric is fine, the cut is not.
DeleteThe dress looks matronly and ugly on the model, and the more neutral shoes make it worse, not better, imo.
I´m also questioning this forest green belt, it makes no sense with the dress. I would have gone metallic and added a silver belt. If the dress had been tailored and quite a bit shorter, it probably wouldn´t need any belt at all.
Would have preferred Victoria's shoes and handbag to pick up one of the darker colors in her dress.
ReplyDeleteI really like Victoria’s look with the pink accents and shoes and bag. Sofia’s trousers had to be perfect tailored for this look to be outstanding and they are not. She looks great none the less.
ReplyDeleteAgree.

I like Victoria's overall look with sparkly details on black, the look only she can pull off. Though I must say, the bosom area is not very flattering. She looks better with age anyway.
ReplyDeleteSofia - I like how her perfect neck supports the shoulder line of the jacket. Very flattering! Though, the overall silhouette, especially the hair, seems a bit off. Nonetheless, she also gets better with age for sure.
Queen Silvia - always impeccable !

I kind of like Victoria´s approach here, it´s interesting and fun without being weird. However I think that the dress is too large/loose and too long to get the right effect. It needed to be more fitted, shorter (knee-length) and have a sharper silhouette. A fresh, fun look doesn´t work with a matronly cut. But still a refreshing change from floaty florals.
ReplyDeleteShoes and bag are great.
I like Sofia´s outfit, but it´s too business-like for a concert. Silvia´s suit is gorgeous but is also bordering on day attire. At least the jacket is a bit more festive.
WOW. All three women look fantastic. Love Victoria's dress, though I would have chosen a darker colored shoe and purse. The queen looks lovely, as does Sophia. The gentlemen look dashing.... JT
ReplyDeleteI think all three of the ladies are dressed nicely. From what little of the other concert goers are shown, the concert does not appear to be one requiring formal attire. In my opinion, Queen Silvia is the best dressed. Her dress and jacket fit perfectly, and her pearl necklace and earrings elevate her overall look. Victoria, I think, is trying new styles and her dress for the concert is a colorful addition to her evolving wardrobe. The pink shoes and clutch perfectly complement her dress. Sophia's look is nice but rather boring.
ReplyDeleteLove Victoria's look here with the bright sparkly dress and the pink accessories. I Like Queen Silvia's outfit-smart as always but agree that Sofia's outfit is very business like (she won my vote for best look at the earlier event so don't mind her coming last this time!)
ReplyDelete"Next"...!!
ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia looks beautiful. Love the outfit she is wearing.
ReplyDeleteQ Silvia's two piece ensemble is fantastic.Sofia's blazer is very well fitting great with the black pants. Never seen this dress on Victoria a nice look.Like the offset in color shoes and bag.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Judy
DeleteThree very different women with different preferences. All look lovely.
ReplyDeleteAgree - well said.
ReplyDeleteNot a nice dress for Victoria, sorry. Sophias outfit is unfortunately a bit boring.
ReplyDeleteOkay! I get it, double breasted blazers are a fashion item in 2019/2010. The eighties are back :-)) But although Sofias blazer is quite nicely tailored, she wears it with the wrong combo. Have a look at the model. This long type of blazer works with cropped trousers and flat shoes. It does not work with oversized flared pants and heels. I wonder when we shall see the first double-rowed blazer that actually works.
ReplyDelete@Beth: So what. Fashion trends go round & round and then it's "new" again. If you make it, someone somewhere will wear it. I think it fits Sofia well, and it looks comfortable. Too bad Daniel wasn't wearing his favorite double-breasted jacket as well (*sarcasm*). /Julie/
Delete@Julie, you are right, Fashion trends go round & round, it's all about fun and we will survive this 80ies backslash....And yes, I am waiting for the first outing of Daniel and Victoria as twins in their double-breasted jackets....😝
DeleteLove Victoria's pink shoes and purse, dress is not my fav but I appreciate the colors and it is interesting. - Capt. Marvel
ReplyDeleteI love Sophia's outfit. Victoria's, not so much
