Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia attended the wedding of their close friend Carolina Pihl. The wedding took place on the Italian holiday island Capri, and Carolina Pihl got married to Gunnar Eliassen. Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel, the sons of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, were also present at the wedding. Carolina Pihl is the godparent of Sofia and Carl Philip's youngest son Prince Gabriel. Carolina Pihl runs the company Pihl Strehl which sells scented candles and blankets. |
Lovely bridal gown! It fits her beautifully. I like how each of the bridesmaids has a different silhouette for her dress. P.Sophie looks very good in black and her gown is quite flattering. From the front the dress is so simple, and from the back...it’s a party! (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you .
DeleteAgree!! She is just stunning!!!
DeleteAgain, I don´t like black for a wedding, and even though it is clearly acceptable and a coordinated colour for the bridesmaids´dresses here, I still don´t think of it as a good choice. Sofia´s dress is too long in my view, and I find the tube-like thing on her back a bit odd (and her halterneck awfully tight-looking), but I do like that the dresses of the bridesmaid were coordinated but not exactly the same.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are nice, and I´m sure it was a lovely wedding (great location as well!). Everyone looks neat and polished, but I personally would have opted for a slightly more demure dresscode for the ceremony.
I would have cut Alexander´s hair instead of tying it back.
I can not agree more with Vanessa!
Deletei totally agree, why would one wear black to a summer wedding!
Deletesummer should be fun, vibrant, full of flowers and colourful
In my country (not Sweden) brides used to get married in black just until the 60s-70s...so that thing about white is the rare one in fact....
DeleteBlack is common for weddings. Great contrast with the white of the bride. But the bride chooses the color scheme. It is her big day. Looks like they were all having a blast. Beautiful place! Sofia looks really good. I like the risks and choices she makes. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. But she never looks matronly or too old that much. HA!
DeleteAlways a treat to see the little princes! And I'll always think of bridesmaids in black OR in white as a sadly missed opportunity to showcase ravishing pastel hues. (Oh well, there's always Easter 🙂)
ReplyDeleteCan't beat Capri as a backdrop for a sunset wedding.
Indeed.
DeleteYes, Capri is a wonderful place for a sunset wedding - but don't forget Ibiza!
DeleteVery nice look! Sofia is very beautiful. Black seems to be a trend color for weddings. -Jo
DeleteSofia is SO beautiful!
ReplyDeleteShe really is. They are a precious family. Looks like a very fun occasion. Love the Black/white contrast with the bride.
DeleteUne chute de rein digne de Pippa pour la mariée.. Les demoiselles d honneur ...bof , même Sofia
ReplyDeleteI love Sofia's dress, what an original back, midi length is perfection and it fits her like a glove. I also like the choice of black as it is the best contrast with the impolute white.
ReplyDeleteI rest my case as to whether black is OK and appropriate for weddings, now, personal preference is another thing.
Happy Sunday!!
Sofia's dress is a total disaster, in my humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteSofia ist sehr attraktiv, dieses schwarze Etwas jedoch ein totaler Fehlgriff -Schnitt UND Farbe !!
DeleteSeriously, instead of cutting a little boy's hair they give him a pony tail?? Sofia's dress is flattering from the front and even has its own built-in backpack; she can go shopping in it later. /Julie/
ReplyDelete:-) I love the built in back pack idea. I agree that the dress looks good from the front but distinctly odd from the back. Not a fan of wee boys with hair long enough to tie back but it seems to be a thing with some of the "trendier royals" Prince Jacques of Monaco had long hair for a while--I think tied back on occasion and Alexander's cousin, Nicolas, also had long hair when he was little. Both now have neat hairstyles so we can hope for the same for Alexander.
DeleteIt is very Swedish, many men in Scandinavia wear that kind of pony tail, I think that people here need to travel more..
DeleteMaybe Alexander himself wants to have his hair long, and if so, there is nothing wrong with that. As to the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses, in the 19th century, even the brides used to dress in black -- at least in my country. Trends and fashions vary and change.
ReplyDeleteCes
Totally agree about Alexander. He might want it that way. His curls may disappear when they cut it too. It happened to a friend of mine. Not the end of the world. Maybe they know he would t sit still. Who knows.
DeleteThe bride looks stunning. I like Sofia's dress the front looks great, but I have no clue what that big something is on the back? Each of the Attendance wear a different style nice. So nice to see Alexander and Gabriel there too. Hope every one had great fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't like tattoos. They might be ok on Rockstars, Sailors and jailbirds, but they ruin the apperance of women completely. Tattoos never look appropiate as soon as evening dresses are required and royalty & Tattoos are a 1. degree-cacophony for me.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Frieda
Ich bin ganz deiner Meinung. Eins zu eins meine Gedanken.
Delete-Elisabeth-
I agree with you, Frieda -- and when the skin loses elasticity (an inevitable part of the aging process), tattoos lose their well-defined contours and basically loudly announce that one's youth is a distant memory.
Delete@9:25pm - I agree with you totally. /Julie/
DeleteWhen there is a tattoo, the eyes' view is captured by it and not the dress. I hope that is a tattoo from Sofia's pre-princess days and that she has not added to her previous collection. To me tattoos are off-putting and a major turnoff. I just don't understand the mentality of permanently disfiguring the skin. If you want a tattoo, get a temporary one.
DeleteIn the era of digitization this world needs Software-Developer, Software-Engineers, Data Scientists… have you ever met one of them who does NOT have a tattoo? (I do not attack you, I respect if you do not like tattoos- but I like the people who have them!)
DeleteWhile tattoos are a personal choice and opinion, mine is also to not have one and to not care for them. They cheapen one's look imo.
DeleteEst-ce sa sÅ“ur à côté d’elle sur la deuxième photo ?
ReplyDeleteIs her back full of tattoos?
ReplyDeleteI just see one.
DeleteFor Anon 9:50 no it is not.
ReplyDelete@ Julie, I don't think that letting a child have long hair or put it on a pony tale should be criticized, a quick walk through history will show you that men started cutting their hair in the 20th century, long hair was favored by all classes & specially royalty and aristocracy, they are just trends, nothing to be alarmed.
ReplyDelete@ Frieda, although I personally don't like tattoos for myself, and hate the permanence of such decissions, I must say that in today's society having them doesn't put you in the category of the people you describe, not sure how social you are, but rest assured that people of all persuasions have them, from doctor, lawyers and engineers, to janitors, men, women, rich and poor... another trend, no more no less.
Bad enough, Anon 1:45.
DeleteToday I listend to German radio whilst driving through my hometown and learnt, that every 5th German has a tattoo. I do think, that meanwhile people WITHOUT a tattoo are creating a trend. A kind of unique characteristic! Frieda
Sofia's dress looks divine on her. I know the back of the dress will come down to personal preference, but I applaud the risk she takes. I am very tired of all the conservative choices. They show no individualism. Whether you like her dress or not, Sofia is expressing herself in a rather safe way. I love seeing different dresses for bridesmaids, each expressing her personality. Personally, the tattoo bothers me, but it is my personal issue. For a wedding, I would much rather see it covered. Again, a personal preference, I like the black. As long as it is done properly, I think it can be very chic.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. She seems to march to the beat of her own drummer and not conform to what people think she needs to wear. I will always commend her for that. She is a very pretty young woman.
DeleteI think she has one tattoo on her back. Didn’t see another one. Lots of people I know have them. Personal preference I guess. I think knthr bride chose black to make it easy for them to find a dress and also because it really sets her off in her white dress when they are photographed together. It is kind of a trend now. Love all their looks. It looked Like a lovely wedding. Those boys are just adorable.
ReplyDelete@3:42am - Sofia got all her tattoos in her past life. The one on the back of her neck was very visible on wedding day. She has a small one on her right ankle and I believe another one on the side of her right ribs. /Julie/
DeleteI realise it is the modern thing to have tattoo's but I dislike them immensely. Yes there are men in the Royal families that have them. But especially on a lady I think they are hideous. From the front Sofia looked lovely but the back completely spoiled
ReplyDeleteFor me I don't like plastic glasses on a wedding. That not good for the environment and very cheap for a wedding.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is nice in the front, but horrible in the back. wth did they think?
ReplyDeleteSofias hair is done very nice. I like that style and she looks very lovely (as long as you ignore that black thing on her back)
The boys are cute.
