On September 3, 2019, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain received members of the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI) at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid. The King and the Queen then received members of the Board of Directors of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts at Zarzuela Palace. (Queen Letizia wore a new asymmetric midi dress by Maje.) |
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteYes good for women who can wear that; I don't like pic1, but yes nice original dress.
ReplyDeleteMaryT: I think Letizia liked "pic1", it's what she wants, otherwise she wouldn't be wearing a dress like that. /Julie/
ReplyDeleteThis dress has wonderful movement when Letizia walks. The design is interesting. It is an asymmetrical skirt with what looks like godets added, which gives it the movement and a more feminine feel. As usual, the fit is impeccable. The gentle ruching detail on the sleeves adds a nice amount of interest and I am hoping there is no opening in the back of the skirt. Blue and red are two colors Letizia always looks great in. Gorgeous CH shoes.

ReplyDeleteElegant as always.
ReplyDeletePerfecto vestido.
ReplyDeleteThe dress flows nicely in motion. The openings in the skirt add interest. As expected the accessories are kept to a minimum. Blue seems to be the theme for today.
ReplyDeleteThanks to our host we see that there was a sit down meeting with the disabled guests, instead of the photo ops and copy cat reports, and no new info on such an important group typical of the Sp outlets. MB
Simply wow!!
ReplyDeleteWow, with the sparkle on the dress and the glam earrings, Letizia really brought some subtle va-va-voom to this occasion -- but to me it seems she was attired more for a dressy evening event.
ReplyDeletePerfect Queen Letizia, love her earrings !
ReplyDeleteAgree. Faultless.
DeleteLovely dress. Perfect style. -Siri
ReplyDeleteI see some Kate inspiration here.... Letizia looks impeccable
DeleteIn a French design?? I doubt it..
ReplyDeleteSimply elegant and relaxed .
ReplyDeleteI love the dress, and it fits Queen Letizia perfectly. When I first saw photo no. 1 I thought the queen and king might be ready to tango! I agree that the dress might have been a bit much for the event. But there is no question that she and King Felipe looked fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful elegant dress--the whole outfit in fact--though undoubtedly quite dressy for a daytime event. I didn't understand the tango comment until I looked back at the first pic and you are so right, Debra. Looks like they are taking position for a dance. Lovely pics of the couple.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks fantastic. Love this dress, the only thing I find a miss is the cut of the hemline. Her sling back shoes are divine. Her earrings sealed the deal for me they are gorgeous. The King looks very distinguished looking, love what he is wearing. He is getting more handsome with passing time. They certainly make a lovely couple.
ReplyDeleteSimply fabulous, the flow of the skirt is feminine and it looks like a dance... the fit impecable as usual, killer shoes and hair and makeup on point. I must say that I have seen this dress before, Juliana Awada wore it when the Spanish couple visited last year I think, and I liked it just fine on her, but Letizia takes it to another level. The king looks better and better every day!
ReplyDeleteLetizia does not need any inspiration - she herself is the inspiration. Of course, with a figure and posture like hers it is not an overly difficult task to choose something that suits her :-)
ReplyDelete(--Ann)
Exactly my thoughts. She really is inspirational and her continental, modern style could not be compared to an old-fashioned English rose -look.
Delete-Siri
Her good figure and posture is not something that is god-given, it is something she works on. Because Letizia is one of the few who has deeply understood that wearing fashion and even more so in a highly public role does not simply mean to buy expensive brands or to simply throw something over and call it 'individual style' - you have to choose and wear your outfit with awareness, with mindfulness, with grace, fitting the role, the occasion and the personality to make it look so effortless and chique as it looks on Leitizia. To say, she is lucky, she's good a figure and fits in everything, does not do justice to the whole concept behind Letizia's look and appearance. She puts an enourmous amount of thought in what she wears and how she wears ist, plus matching the accessoires, make-up and hairstyles. And although I believe she has great fashion sense herself, I am sure she has good stylists on hand as advisors - and what is more important, she listens to them. What some of the royal ladies stubbornly deny to do. The results are known.
DeleteAnn, who said that she needed inspiration?
Delete@ Cherry Blossom, one of the No Name Anonymous above believes this dress is a 'Kate inspiration' ;-)) Funny thought that, if anything it would be the other way round.
DeleteA new trend among young royal ladies to wear long dresses for day events? Letizia, Mary, Sofia e.g. have done it often lately.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Letizia looks absolutely très chic with the long slit in her dress!
- Louise
Louise, I don't think midi dresses are a trend amongst royals, I have been wearing them for years, specially in winter paired with boots, I personally find them more elegant and forgiving as one gets older.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous dress. However, a Queen should not show as much leg as in Pic #1. Where's the seamstrees for a minor alteration when you need them?
ReplyDeleteA Queen in 2019 can show any amount of leg she wants...like any other woman. Women have legs and if they want to show them, let them, Queen or not. Get with it. There's nothing wrong with showing legs, we all have them. What's the big deal? So sick of people trying to control women' bodies and how/what they should wear. You do realize the majority of these "rules" were set by men trying to control? It's ridiculous. We can't wear anything above the ankle, a bathing suit too far above the knee, I can go on. Modernity please. - Capt. Marvel
DeleteI’m sick and tired of people like you who confuse license for progress. Letizia is working at this event and as such, should wear professional attire congruent to what a man in her position would wear. I see her husband is wearing a full suit. He too has the “right” to show his legs but alas, we don’t see him wearing singlets and shorts while on the job. The dress is fine overall, but as Virginia stated, a little stitch would have kept it from showing her thighs (unprofessional on the job, fine in your off time). Yes, women have the right to show their bodies, but there is a time and place for everything. I wish more women and girls would realize that so as not to be objectified or ridiculed for not abiding by the parameters of professionalism.
DeleteReally just for curiosity; are you saying that Letízia was unprofessional, on this specify case, because on your opinion her dress have one little stitch less?
DeleteSurii
@ Capt. Marvel: is this a case of freedom ./. aestethics? I for sure prefer the latter. A hot summer in the city is not always a pleasure for your eyes.

ReplyDeleteBeth, Amen. Also it is obvious that she exercises, does strength training, and her genetics help to keep her in shape.
