On September 20, 2019, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted the traditional Sweden Dinner (Sverigemiddag) at Stockholm Royal Palace. The aim of the Sweden Dinner is to honor people who have made significant local, regional or national contributions. About 200 guests were received and welcomed by the King, the Queen, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel at Queen Lovisa Ulrika's Dining Hall. Among the guests, there were representatives from culture, industry, education and sports organisations in Sweden's 21 counties, as well as county governors. (Crown Princess Victoria wore a new jacquard patterned top and flounced skirt by H&M.) |
My favorite is Silvia here. She looks great in the red and her hair in the third pic is very pretty.

Agree.
DeleteAgree, Silvia wores her gown beautifully. Victoria is looking beautiful as well, but I do not like the bow.

ReplyDeleteI don't like this dress at all, but to describe her as a pregnant clown it's unnecessary, rude and unkind.
DeleteI wonder if that is how you address your friends and family when you don't like their choice if clothing, which is totally subjective, what you like could be something that somebody else hates.
There is a way to critique without being ugly, it's called manners.
I see it completely different - Victoria looks wonderful!
DeleteI agree wholeheartedly with Cherry Blossom.
DeleteAgree. Also in the 2nd and 5th shots, there doesn’t seem to be as much volume around her waist. Some of the pictures just may not have been taken at a flattering angle. Her make- up looks great.
DeleteThe ruffles at the u-neck look like the ruffles from a clown-costume. It is pretty easy to add those ruffles to any fabric. And it is cheaper than adding a lace fabric. The fabric of Victoria's dress is stiff. You can recognize this at the ruffles. In addition the stiff fabric creates an unflattering volume around the middle of her body - even or because she wears a band around her waist. This fabric and cut doesn't suit her bodytype. I'm pretty sure this dress creates gossip (pregnant or she ate to much - and I'm pretty sure that it's in fact not the case, but this fabric is absolutely unflattering).
DeleteIn my opinion this dress is not a good one of h&m, it looks cheap. Not a dress to be worn by a Crown Princess. There are still cheap AND elegant AND stylish looking dresses. But this dress isn't one of them.
Victoria combines a side chignon but I have absolutely no clue why. There is no asymmetrical line in this outfit besides her hairdo. In contrast to her side chignon the ruffles creates a chaotic but symmetrical composition. So why she or her stylist had the idea to combine a side chignon to symmetric ruffles? It obsolutely doesn't make sence to me.
In my opinion this outfit is a whole disaster and I feel sorry for Victoria.
Katharina, obviously you don't get it, your fashion opinions are yours and honestly, I personally find them totally incongruent . NO the dress doesn't look like a clown dress, and NO there is no reason to feel sorry because a person chooses an outfit that you don't like, she seems to me like a very well educated, prepared, emphatic, modern , and most of all happy woman, despite of making fashion choices that you don't approve of.
DeleteOn the other hand I do feel sorry for your lack of empathy and nastiness, even after your comment was removed just because of its uglyness, you continue with your mean diatribe, you know most people that aren't tone deaf would have apologized and try to learn how to critique without being cruel,
Oh cherry blossom, I said nothing about the Character of Crown Princess Victoria. But if you feel criticised by my opinion of this h&m dress, I feel sorry for you as well.
DeleteKatharina, please go back to your home, and stay there.
DeletePlease don't, I am rather fortunate, save your sorrow for yourself!!
DeleteNow, bye-bye.
Thanks.
DeleteYou actually told us a lot of you're opinion of what stranger people are thinkin (in you're opinion). In fact there was the possibility to ask me what I've wanted to say.
This is a fashion blog. If you have an other opinion on CP Victorias outfit - let us know.
Katharina... NO, people gets naturally turned off when they read your comment describing this lovely woman as a " pregnant clown" that is not a fashion opinion anywhere , that is just being unnecessary cruel. And other commentators have the right to call you on it, even the administrator removed your comment, that should be a clear indication for you, do you think you can opine about a dress without being so incredibly insulting?

I haven´t read Katharina´s original comment because it was already removed when I wrote mine. I don´t find the wording "looks like a pregant clown" especially nice, but if that was the only unkind thing she wrote, then I find the reactions exaggerated. She did explain later what she meant, and it was with regard to the dress and the impression it gives, not a personal attack that everyone accuses her of. Some people here are so quick to jump at comments they don´t like, without giving the writer the benefit of the doubt. Not all of us are native English speakers, some comments aren´t worded perfectly, some are written in a hurry and end up unintentionally offensive, but to let the commentator know, a short remark will suffice. No need to call people mean or nasty or to ridicule them for their opinion.
Delete@12:46, exactly, you didn't see her comment because it was removed by the administrator, which doesn't happen very often, and it was right down ugly, and no, she didn't explain anything, she doubled down on the clown thing, and made remarks as to feeling sorry for her, really? How many times have told somebody, oh! I feel sorry for you or your daughter because your outfit is a disaster? And to elucidate on my comment I didnt call her any names, I said that her comments were cruel and unkind, and they were. Honestly, there is no need fir such demeaning comments, it may not bother you, but this kind of of ugliness amongs adult women on a forum about fashion is unnecessary .

The skirt is not bad, but the top is like a nightgown and way too shiny, sorry.
ReplyDeleteit's the bow in front that makes her look pregnant. Also sure she is not. But that dress looks like a very expensive and fancy nightgown.
ReplyDeleteThe ladies look lovely, but Queen Silvia wins hands down, the beautiful lace dress the colour suits her so well. Her jewellery is stunning and yes the third picture her hair looks soft and beautiful
ReplyDeleteVous avez ce bons yeux pour voir les bijoux minuscules !
DeleteI love Victoria's gown, hair parted on the side, and the way the sleeves are sitting in the gown. She is a beautiful woman, these photos show her rested, relaxed, and so vibrant.... JT
ReplyDeleteI love Victoria’s dress! She looks absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, but a lot of color variations in the photos. Victoria's eyebrows have looked different lately. /Julie/
ReplyDeleteMy first thought about Victoria's was that it must be one of Silvia's old gowns from the 80s. The ruffles, the cut, the shimmer and the bad fit... was astonished to see that it's brand new. To me it's too much 80s vibes to like this dress. Christine.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, this was exactley my first thought: the 80s are back...Sorry, but not my favourite dress from CP Victoria.
DeleteVictoria looks radiant! The dress lights up her face! The Queen looks wonderful in red!
ReplyDeleteI'd like Victoria's skirt better if the bow were tied in the back.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet ... who wouldn't want to be a real princess once in a while? :-) When I saw the photos, I had to smile. It may be just a little bit too much princessy, but as a whole, I like it - kind of: for a change. Better more skin than flowers and ruffles from head to toe.

It certainly seems nice to have an occupation where taking care of your looks is an essential part of the "job". Especially when you are provided with time and money to do it.
DeleteThere is such a difference when Victoria has her hair and makeup done for her. I like the stronger brow and color on her cheeks. It is not overdone, but adds that little extra I think she needs.
ReplyDeleteSilvia looks stunning here, simply fantastic. The colour, the lace, the cut and the simple green pendant to break all the red... very well done!
ReplyDeleteI also do not dislike Victoria's dress. It's a lot of fabric and shimmering, but with the simple but elegant jewelry and a beautiful updo, she looks fine to me. Only the bow was a bit too much.
On the occasion of hosting the traditional Swedish Dinner, May prosperity of Sweden, the Swedish royal family and the Swedish people continue to reign
ReplyDeleteSilvia looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteVictoria looks radiant too, I like her hair, her make-up and jewellery. The dress has potential, but doesn´t look quite right. The waist´s too high, the tied ribbon too bulky, the uneven hem unfortunate as it makes her dress look too short in an unintended way. I don´t mind the fabric, and I think the silver print is festive enough so the dress doesn´t get mistaken for a nightgown. I often have issues with white floral dresses that give me nightgown-vibes, but not this time, maybe also because the cut is fairly structured. However, the horizontal ruffly thing halfway down her skirt wasn`t necessary.
Es muß ein schöner Abend gewesen sein, sogar die beiden Männer lächeln..
ReplyDeleteAlle Vier sehen großartig aus und Victorias Schönheit ist wieder einmal atemberaubend.
I don't like the fit of Victoria's outfit, it doesn't look good around her middle/waist and skirt's hem looks uneven. But her makeup looks wonderful. She has found herself good cosmetogolist, her lines are all gone from her forehead, and her skin looks really good.
ReplyDeleteSilvia looks lovely in red.
-Karin
I love how princessy this dress is! It may be a little too much, but I like it.
ReplyDeleteCP Victoria looks radiant and happy but I’m afraid the dress is “two thumbs down” for me. It lacks a defined shape and there are too many tiny ruffles that distract the eye. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteCP Victoria looks amazing! I like the dress. I disagree with the pregnant looking comments. I think her waist looks tiny in this dress and I can see her amazing figure. It's different and she looks beautiful. - Capt. Marvel
ReplyDeleteKatharina, symmetrical chignon.?? The hair needs to have symmetry with the dress??
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha!!
Oksana
Superbe la reine dans cette toilette d'un joli rouge très lumineux !!!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @7:22 exactly!!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @12:46, why shoud the written word be different that the spoken one? is the insult coming from behind a keyboard excusable? In what world , would you approach a young woman and tell her that she looks like a pregnant clown, and that you pity her because her outfit is a disaster? Not in my world. This is what bullying looks like, and it has nothing to do with freedom of speech or expressing opinions, and I will continue to call it out, because I despise what we are becoming, you can agree with these comments or defend the ones that make them, it's your choice.
Regards.
