On July 5, 2019, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium received Belgian legend cyclist Baron Eddy Merckx at the Royal Castle in Brussels on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his first victory in Tour de France in 1969, on the eve of the start of the 106th edition of Tour de France cycling race. Eddy Merckx was accompanied by his family and his teammates from 1969. A delegation from the Amaury Sport Organization and general directors of the 22 teams participating in Tour de France 2019 were also present. On Saturday, July 6, the 106th edition of Tour de France will start with a 194.5km stage in the region of Brussels. |
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful dress on Queen Mathilde! Wonderful fit! Secret: she’s wearing the belt lower, thus extending her torso. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ReplyDeleteAgree. Love her hair style also .
ReplyDeleteSure. Eddy Merckx still is the most successfull cyclist in history ever. With 525 victorys in road races (five times winner of the Tour de France, five times winner of the Giro d'Italia, three times world champion in roadcycling) he still stands a class of it's own. By the way: I don't like that dress. The fabric is weird and the fitting is not very well. Makes Mathilde look way to formal for such a hot summers day.
Delete*sighs* Let me guess... Natan?
ReplyDeleteIndeed!!! and I sigh with you....
DeleteIndeed!!! and I sigh with you....
DeleteHm she wanted to wear a yellow shirt as well!!! Not a success
Prachtige jurk !
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice event the 50th Anniversary of the Tour de France. The Queen looks nice yellow seem to suit her. I must also say the King looks very handsome and he is 59, both look great.
ReplyDeleteIt' the hundredth anniversary of the yellow jersey which is celebrated.
DeleteIt's not the 50th Anniversary of the Tour de France - le Tour was born in 1903, only interrupted during WW I + II. It was 50 years ago in 1969 when Eddy Merckx won the Tour de France for the first time. So this is another reason why the Grand Depart will be held in Brussels today.
Deletesame cut and silhouette as always, the belt never helps her figure, but she seem to be very fond of this particular accessory. The fabric is jus horrific.
ReplyDeleteCherry Blossom, very true...
DeleteHow right you are! The fabric is not only horrific, but radioactive too.
DeleteWhat a lovely dress! The queen looks exquisite.
ReplyDeleteSame as with Maxima earlier in the week... great colour but horrid shiny fabric. Queen looks great, love her hair but not the best dress she’s worn.
ReplyDeleteShiny fabric can be nice, to judge on case by case; for me not this one.
DeleteWhat is the fabric of the Queen’s dress? Looks like raw silk.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the color or material of her dress. Her hair style is lovely!
ReplyDeleteB. Eddy Merckx....what a legend! Great celebration!!!
