The Swedish Royal Family takes part in the annual National Day celebrations today in Stockholm. On June 06, 2019, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden attended the National Day Celebrations at Haga Park in Solna. Prince Carl Phillip and Princess Sofia participated in a ceremony celebrating Sweden's National Day at the Royal Palace. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden visited the province of Dalarna during Sweden's National Day. In the evening, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia and Princess Madeleine participated in a ceremony celebrating national day at Skansen. (Crown Princess Victoria wore a floral print blouse and top by Rodebjer.) |
Victoria had good intentions to be more original than usual, however it is half a success in my view. Cannot really say why.
ReplyDeleteSorry Victoria, but it's a no from me. Although I love flower dresses and skirts, this is too much. The cut doesn't do her any justice and somehow it makes her look bigger and a bit boxy. Pity!
ReplyDeleteI much prefer Sofia's outfit here!
I like Victorias dress! And I also love Sofias traditional clothing!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteMe too. I find the dress appropriate with the spring atmosphere of flowers and bright skies. Pity the men didn't brighten up their look a bit with a bright tie or a more informal suit. I think the fit of the dress is intended to me loose and free flowing to the point of perhaps being "baggy".
Delete_pour un barbecue entre amis ok! Pour une représentation princière non .
ReplyDeleteFlowers flowers flowers so boring.
ReplyDeleteShe can recyle that dress into a curtain.
ReplyDeleteBusy day in Sweden today. The RF is out in force.Estelle in the National dress and Oscar in a suit. The kids look adorable and grown up,I like Sofia in this National garb, the other Ladies look their best as well.
ReplyDeleteThey all look wonderful! Yes, I could quibble about the length of CP Victoria’s skirt, but the print is so light and fresh, and she just glows with happiness.
ReplyDeleteAs expected, Queen Silvia wins the day. She is always perfectly elegant and appropriate. Not sure why that did not rub off her eldest daughter.
ReplyDeleteVictoria's flowered dress seems to be a couple sizes too large and makes her look dowdy again. Sofia looks beautiful, young and fresh. The queen looks very nice. They all look good in their traditional costumes.
ReplyDeleteVictoria´s dress is too casual for the event. It was an outdoor event at a park but still somewhat formal, and therefore Victoria´s dress looks out of place amongst all those suits and the more formal dresses on the ladies. I do, however actually like this floral dress as such. And she was consistent and styled it right with sandals and sunglasses. As floral dresses go, this is one of her better ones. It has a bit of a bohemian vibe instead of the frumpiness I get from all the others.
ReplyDeleteSilvia looks very elegant. I almost think that the pillbox hat is a bit much, but she is one classy lady. And Carl Gustaf is equally well dressed. He has great style and is consistently one of the best dressed royal men (though he should have unbuttoned his jacket while seated).
I like Daniel with shades. And Oscar in that tiny suit is just too cute for words.

Princess Sofia and the others look great in the national dress. Victoria does not look good in the floral dress. Looks way too big.
ReplyDeleteI just love Sofia’s look today 😍😍😍
ReplyDeleteSince Sofia is a married women isn't she supposed to wear a hat with traditional dress? It was my understanding that unmarried women and young girls were the only ones to go hatless. I could have been misinformed. ???
ReplyDeleteI also wondered why Sofia isn't wearing her head scarf; she and Madeleine are the ones who look best in theirs. And... Victoria's dress is too fussy, too big, and the sleeves are waaaay too long. And don't get me started on her super-tight hair.
DeleteTraditionally married women wear the head covering, but in reality and especially these days I see many married women without them.
DeleteFor the past few years roayl ladies of Sweden do not wear the hat for the opening of the gates of the Royal Palace
DeleteI’m not a fan of the sloppy, too long sleeves. Otherwise a fresh spring look for the princess. She should try a Brazilian blow out one day since her choice of hair style ages her. If Duchess Catherine can smooth out her naturally frizzy hair, Victoria, who has just curly hair, would look lovely.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree about the hair! I would love to see her with a different hairstyle.
DeleteI think Victoria has found a hair style that suits her features. The long floral dress is lovely and fun, just right for an early Nordic summer!
DeleteYes, the super-tight-hairstyle emphasizes her Bernadotte attributes. CP Victoria does not take very much after her mothers family of Sommerlath.
DeleteI have understood that Victoria as the future reigning queen has Margrethe of Denmark (another reigning queen) as a model more than queen consort Silvia. It shows in many small details. And it's fully ok as Victoria will be the only reigning queen of her generation, other crown princesses will be queen consorts.
DeleteWhere on her head "sits" Victoria's bonnet? She is on the safe side with her National Costume for the Swedish Ladies. Lovely. The other one looks more like IKEA.
ReplyDeleteKönigin Silva bezaubernd wie so oft im passenden eleganten weissen Kostüm !!

ReplyDeleteAlthough this is how the dress is 'meant to be worn' it looks ill-fitting on Victoria... Shorter sleeves, length would have made a GREAT difference.
ReplyDeleteNia
Yes, with those changes this could have been a lovely, versatile spring dress.
DeleteWithout the too-thin belt, Victoria's floral dress would look similar to a kimono-style dressing gown. If altered and repurposed to serve that function, it would do so very attractively! It just seems way too long and a bit too loose to look appropriate at an outdoor, daytime public function. With some beautiful formal jewelry and gathered carefully at the waist with the right belt, she could perhaps get away with it at an evening event.
ReplyDeleteLove all the ladies in the Swedish traditional garb :-)
Sylvia looks really lovely in white. And although I normally don't like floral dresses on Victoria I think this one works.

ReplyDeleteSilvia looks wonderful. Love both of her looks.
ReplyDeleteWhen there's picture of mother and daughter next to each other, you can see how well Silvia's bonnet was placed on her head but then I look at Victoria's headgear...I could only see Victoria's big chin, it was not flattering at all!
