As the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development and Honorary Patron of the G20’s Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, Queen Maxima attended the G20 Summit held in Osaka, Japan. On the second day of the summit, the Queen attended an event on women's empowerment during the G20 Summit in Osaka. At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Queen Maxima gave a speech at the G20 side event. (The Queen is wearing a Natan dress.) |
Much better day for Maxima, and what a gorgeous, sleek updo.
ReplyDeleteI agree, a spotless appearance! Love her updo!
DeleteRoyalty fan
ReplyDeleteOh my word, isn't Maxima's hair styled stunning! Breathtaking! Can't her hair dresser always style her hair like this. She actually nail it out of the G20 summit, with this hairdo! I also love Theresa May's suit/jacket, something different from the always blue jacket/skirt set, which she so love
Agree. Maxima is really special Queen. Dutch people must be proud of their queen!
DeleteI know Mary and Letizia also make great speech. Cheer up Kate!
@6:01pm - "Cheer up Kate!"?? Do you think Kate is constantly crying into her towel because she wanted to attend this thing? I doubt it.
DeleteAgree with Anon 7:51 PM and agree with Royalty fan.
Delete@Anonymous 6:01 pm
DeleteCatherine would have had absolutely no cause to attend this summit. The Duchess of Cambridge is married to the second in line to the throne and has other duties which she performs perfectly. No need for a sideblow.
DeleteWow, this is how you do a chic and sleek updo. You finally nailed it, Maxima!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the floral dress of Ivanka, would love to have it myself :-)
O and am I the only one who thinks Maxima's dress is awful? The colour, the weird cut and very odd-looking around her bosom... Can't help it, but it strongly reminds me of the brown sacks of potatoes we used in earlier times...
ReplyDeleteO come on get a grip If you cant be kind say nothing at all Maxima is her own person and her taste in clothes suit her just fine.
DeleteDear Unknown, I didn't say anything negative about Maxima herself. I wouldn't do that because I believe she is a great personality. I only commented about the dress. And that is allowed, because this is a fashion blog.
DeleteYes, Rosalyn, you are right. This is a fashion blog and I totally agree with you. The color is not great and the baggy design in front is not attractive in my opinion too.
DeleteCompletely agree with you Rosalyn. The dress is awful. The hairdo is perfect!
DeleteI agree with you too, Rosalyn. This dress is not nice. I could live with the colour, but the design of the skirt is rightout ugly.
DeleteAlso, even if the design was more successful, I´d still find this kind of dress wrong for a political summit. This is not the time to wear a delicate, floaty dress of see-through fabric (even if properly lined), puffy or bell sleeves and big ribbons. The same applies to Ivanka´s dress - totally wrong for the occasion, although prettier in itself. Save those dresses and small evening clutches for cocktail receptions or something. What ever happened to ladies´ business attire?

No eres el único. Hay que tener muy mal gusto para ver en esto UN VESTIDO cuando es un HORROR
DeleteHope Angela Merkel takes care of herself. Feel sorry for her after twice watching her shaking so badly, dehydrated or not.
ReplyDeletei know. like Trump is taping her back like "are you ok?"
Deleteon the style view Ivanka's dress is great if it was a size smaller. I like Maxima's outfit but today is more about her intellectual influence at the G20, the Dutch are lucky to have her, she represents them well 💕
Angela Merkel probably will retire earlier.
DeleteAngela Merkel will be retiring next year after a long run as Kanzlerin. Hope she is okay.
DeleteI think she´ll retire later THIS year. Mainly because of expected defeats in regional elections, but health reasons will probably come in as a handy excuse. I wish her well health-wise, but I think she has more serious problems than she admits.

The dress of Ivanka, the useless Barbie, is awful.
ReplyDeleteYes, lizzie, Ivanka does resemble a Barbie, perhaps on purpose. Terrible hairstyle with roots showing, even when she met Queen Elizabeth. At least Ivanka's dress isn't two sizes too small - it actually fits her.
DeleteIvanka looks beautiful and well dressed as always. She's a very accomplished woman. Keep your snarky comments to yourself.
DeleteLove Maxima's hair today, best I've ever seen on her. Her dress, not so much.
DeleteAgree with Ninius - exceptional hair, sophisticated look on Queen Max and a beautiful First Lady.
DeleteI think Ivanka,s dress is beautiful, but not for the occasion and it doesn't fit her very well, the roots need to be retouched. She looks pretty in a very artificial way, in looking at before and after pictures, it seems like everything on her face has been redone, no judgement here, to each its own.
DeleteMáxima' s hair looks fabulous, the dress is just not oretty, busy, and unflattering.
Totally correct, Ninius.
DeleteWow..name calling just like in grammar school. Grow up!
DeleteLizzie, what a useless comment.
Delete@Ninius 8:23 - So only favourable comments are allowed? Ivanka would have gotten where she is with a different last name? So why isn't she "Ivanka Kushner"? We don't all like the same people. And Helen decides which comments get posted; if she posts this one or not, it's fine. And did QUEEN Máxima slightly bow to President Trump and feed his ego?
DeleteAnon 12:05 I had the impression that both were leaning in so they could hear above the chatter in the room. It is amazing where a person's mind will go. @lizzie and Anon 7:57 Name calling is childish behavior. Political opinions should remain taboo. There are many other places to voice those thoughts. This is a fashion blog, where it is acceptable to voice negative opinions about fashion, not the person.
DeleteMaxima's hair looks amazing, the dress, not so much. The dress is reminding me of drapery swags. Ivanka's dress is beautiful and very feminine. I don't know if she kept the bow at the back of the neck, but it would definitely make this dress over the top for G20.
oh well and, the show continues!
ReplyDeleteoh well and, the show continues!
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks lovely her hairdo is a wow, great look. I also like her interaction with other members of the G20. She seems to get along with Ivanka Trump- Kushner very well. Great Representative of the Netherlands. She has class and diplomacy wrapped up and called it her own. Great Job YM The Dutch people can be so proud of you.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks absolutely gorgeous .
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Ivanka Trump was officially a royal.
ReplyDeleteIf a picture of Barack Obama was too political to stay on this website, why isn't a picture of Ivanka Trump, an Official Senior Advisor to a very controversial president, also too political to stay on this website.
Une réponse intelligente !
DeleteLove the First Lady´s dress and Queen Maxima´s dress, well done.
ReplyDeleteWhy was Ivanka Trump even there? She's simply a private citizen who works in the Whitehouse
ReplyDeleteShe is Advisor to the President and has met and worked with Queen Maxima on other women's issues. I don't think it was up to you to approve the list of who attended.
DeleteDoes that mean President Trump needs on a meeting an advisor at his side? The other representatives of their countries can well do without that. They all have experts and advisors, of course, to discuss the topics of the summit beforehand. But an advisor - I dont' even know what Ivanka is an expert in and what qualifies her as dvisor - to sit in the middle of the front row for officcial photos of a global summit of world leaders is somehow disturbing.
DeleteFor her looks - the dress is nice where it belongs - it does not meet the more business like dress code of that meeting, which makes her stand out again in the group. Not in the best way in my opinion.
Anon 9:17 PM and Anon11:00PM Why so negative??? Enjoy the site.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:17 here.
DeleteA picture of Barack Obama was removed because he is not a royal and the picture was deemed too political by some, so it was removed. I want equal treatment for pictures of all non-royals in political roles.
Agree this is sad.
DeleteIvanka Trump is not the First Lady. Agree with Anonymous 11:00pm not sure why she is at the event and more importantly featured so much. The President’s daughter should not be in the front row while the PM of Canada and the Chancellor of Germany to name a few sit behind her.
ReplyDelete@2:43am - Totally agree. /Julie/
DeleteI'm not a big fan of Maxima's dress but I don't hate it. Her hair looks wonderful here and I love how enthusiastic and engaged she always appears to be.
ReplyDeleteI quite like Ivanka Trump's dress but not keen on her hair - colour, roots or even style particularly.
@2:19pm - Totally agree. /Julie/
DeleteOoh, ouch. What a lot of bickering from some!
ReplyDeletePersonally think Queen Maxima looks stunning. Her hair is amazing, I think her dress is flattering and appropriate for the event. I think I like Ivanka’s dress but agree that it seems quite big for her and is perhaps too summery for a business summit
I disagree with the comment on surname. When I married I chose to use my husband’s name, for the simple reason that I preferred it to my own, I have many colleagues and family who keep their own names for a whole variety of reasons.
Ivanka is there as part of the US delegation as her role as Advisor focuses on education and empowerment of women and their families among other things. Hence the photo of her with Queen Maxima and Christine Lagarde with the document promoting Women’s empowerment & the IMF
Finally, I doubt she chose the seating! I suspect that those in the front row may have made speeches.
Very last comment, totally agree with all those who point out how proud the Dutch must be of Queen Maxima, who attends these events not only due to her current position but also because of her impressive financial and business credentials
Why attention for Trumps daughter???.
ReplyDeleteShe is not a royal.
There were other woman too!
Maxima is wearing a beauttiful wig
ReplyDeleteI also tend to believe it is a wig. Because even with lots of extensions it would be difficult to create that modern and sophisticated updo with her natural hair. Anyways I am blown awy with that look. Maxima should stick to that hairstylist for ever.
DeleteI realize this isn't even on your main page anymore; however, even CNN is questioning why Ivanka Trump was at this event and making speeches. CNN called this "the hugely inappropriate weekend of Ivanka Trump".
